Re: A good and free cd burning program?

2013-08-26 Thread Larry

John,

I think the program you are referring too is
CDEX, and it is not a burning program, but a
ripper. This meaning that it doesn't burn cds,
but rips tracks from a cd, then converts them to
.mp3, .ogg, .flac or any desired compression
format. I've been using CDEX for over a decade,
and it does what it does and does it quite well.
However, it doesn't burn cds. I use Nero to that purpose.

Renaming the songs doesn't help with all mp3 players. You sometimes have to
rename the tags, too. The stuff you i.e. see as information in winamp.
Winamp lets you rename tags.

Take care,

the best one is BurnAware.
There is a free version, and a very nice one called premium that also has

 Hi all,
Sometime ago, folks were talking about a simple but good and free cd

give me some good suggestions to use in my recording studio? I don't
care to use anything too complex.
Thank you,

Question about CD burning

2011-11-29 Thread Mark Meusborn
Howdy,

I am using Goldwave. I am pretty new at this. I have a cassette with a live
show on it. I created a FLACK file that includes both sides of the cassette
to make one long file. I put all of the q's in, but now the problem is, I
don't want to split it all up. I want to burn a CD and keep the q's in place,
so that when someone listens to the CD, they can skip through, just like a
regular CD, or listen to it straight through without any spaces between songs.
I hope I am making myself clear on what I am trying to do, and I hope someone
can help.

Mark

Windows media Player will allow you to burn cd's and so will winamp. Below
are directions for Windows Media. I am getting ready for work or I would
write Winamp's directions as weel.

1. Place a blank cd in your cdr drive.
2. When you see/hear what do you want windows to do, press the letter o
followed by tapping enter once.

3. Move to where you have the files you wish to burn to this cd.
4. Select a file you wish to place on the cd and press control plus the
letter c.?

5. Press alt plus tab back to the cdr drive window.
6. press control plus the letter v.
You could select all the files in a folder and press control plus c if you
wish. You do not have to do them one at a time.

7. Once all the files are in the cdr window, press alt plus the letter f.
8. Press the letter t.
9. Tab to next
and press enter.
10.Windows Media Player will open. So tab to copy and press the
spacebar. Do not press space on copy to cd or copy to device.

11. Tab to next: again and press enter. When the cd is finished
recording, the drive will open.

Have a good day.

Houdy,

There's a lot of different fre one's out there. It really depends on what
you want. For audio CD and Data CD and DVD creation you can get deep burner
from http://www.deepburner.com. For a more advanced program which will
create movie DVD's as well you can get tiny burn from
http://www.tinyburn.com, however, this program uses a different type of
installer and you also have to be careful because it wants to install a ton
of additional unnecessary toolbars and bloat ware. Then there is DVD video
soft's free studio4.8. This robust 25 program suite is a complete
collection of converters, rippers, and burners which are all screen reader
friendly. and allow you to do numerous tasks. You can get that one from

Hope this helps.

CD BURNING

2010-09-05 Thread Olusegun -- Victory Associates LTD, Inc.

Hi Everyone:

Seeking info on software that I can use to burn a data CD. I'm trying to
burn a Seagate Disc Setup utility until CD so I can use it to FORMAT several

I'd be interested in knowing if any list member has tried a free CD burner
that is reasonably accessible. Where can I download such a software? Much
thanks for all help.

RE: CD BURNING

2010-09-05 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I would think you could do this with Windows XP, Vista or 7, without any 3rd
party application, although I haven't done this myself. A web page
explaining how to create data and music CD's in Windows XP is at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/expert/bridgman_august13.mspx
. I'm guessing it works similarly in Vista and 7.

Are you looking for a bootable CD or just a data CD? The above should handle
a data CD, but I'm not sure that could give you a bootable CD.

hi.
well got a cleaner kit for my dvd / cd rom drive.
as some cd -r disks would burn using express burn, at max rate, then tried it
at 24 x, and one time at 8 x.
now got a jvc boom box or portable stereo or could be called portable ipod /
small audio.
cd boom box.
it comes with a media player.
if i burn say tracks as a data disk.
now purchased some rewriteables today from harvey norman.
how many mp3s, wmas, could i put on one stadnard data cd, burning using express
burn.
or other accessible audio burning software.
and what speed do i need to burn so it burns correctly and does not give me
errors.
and how to use the media player.
have not used it.
can i just play it like a regular cd.
i have the cd tray, with the play, repeat toggle buttons.
a button, which is push button for forward, then below a button for rewind.
has a single cassette player, am / fm radio, base, graphic eqaliser, two
speakers, and a media player.
have not use th e media player feature yet.$99 harvey norman.
but cannot find the model number.
so how to use this.
any ideas.
would it be better just to burn to as a data disk, to mp3, wmas, etc.

Re: cd burning question

2010-05-14 Thread DJ DOCTOR P

Hello Marvin,
If you're using Windows Explorer to burn the tracks to CD as data, the
computer chooses its own speed.
But to your boom box, a CD is a CD, it will play it as if it was a normal
audio CD.

The only difference is, the files on it are either mp3 or WMA.
Sorry, can't help you with the media player on your boom box.
But my guess is, you have to have some kind of a memory device in order to
play mp3 or WMA files without having to use the CD player that's built in to
your boom box.

Hope this helps.
My best regards.
 John.

frustrated cd burning music help

2010-05-10 Thread Marvin Hunkin

hi.
if your sighted partner can read the screen shot.
then i use a program called express burn from http://www.nchsoftware.com
and now have tried to burn a folder.
purchased maxette cds.
but for some stupid reason.
gets to track 10 53 % which is out of touch by hall and oates.
and then gives me errors.
and got cd -r.
this is how i use the program.
1. the program loads in windows vista.
2. click n, then select audio cd.
click okay
3. the name of the disk is created.
4. i click on add folder.
and then navigate to the folder called MoreMoreMusic
5 then click burn.
6 a dialogue, comes up with the name of my dvd drive, burn speed. which i elect
burn, and use default track pause.
then click burn.
then it starts burning.
so what am i doing wrong.
i get the blank cd from my mum, stick my finger in the hole.
then gently stick the cd in the cd tray, using the side of the cd to slide it
in snugly.
so wish there was some software could tell if my mp3s, they play fine on the
laptop.
got track given my friend, and also downloaded some tracks.
do have a program called mp3 direct cut from http://www.mp3directcut.com

2010-03-30 Thread Kevin Lloyd
Try burning it again with windows media player. The problem is most likely
with the media or as another poster has suggested, the writing speed.
Depending what format your music is in, there will probably have been a
conversion to write it to a standard audio CD but it's unlikely that you
would hear a difference in the results between the two programs.

High Garry,
What I'm hearing, are distorted pops in the right speaker of any stereo
that I play the CD on.

But that is the one that I burned using WMP 10.
But the CD I burned using Express Burn, doesn't sound like that.
I should point out, that the CD that was burned using WMP 10, has a kind
of dull sound.
But the CD that was burned using Express Burn, sounds like, it came right
out of the studio.

What's up with that?

I suggest that the media that you are using can't handle a faster writing

don't know of a way to slow down the burner using media player. I guess it
sounds scratchy or something?

Subject: CD BURNING QUESTION

Hello list members,
I used Windows Media Player 10 to burn an audio CD.
But when I played it back on my stereo, I heard degradation in the right
speaker.
I thought I was hearing things, so I tried the CD on another stereo that
I have here in the house.

Needless to say, I heard the same thing on that one too as well.
Even the highs weren't sounding the way they're suppose to.
But when I used Express Burn to burn those same files to CD, I didn't
hear what I heard on the first one that was burned by Windows Media
Player 10.
My question is, why is this happening with one CD burning software and
not the other one?

Thinks in advance.

Hello Kevin,
The files that I burned to CD using both peaces of software, are PCM

They are also 96000 KHZ 32 bit-stereo which is the format that I recorded

WMP 10 shouldn't have a problem with those types of files, should it?

No, shouldn't be a problem but you'd really need to repeat the burn to see
if you have a real issue or whether the problem was due to faulty media.

Re: CD BURNING QUESTION

2010-03-30 Thread DJ DOCTOR P

High Garry,
Well if it doesn't work, then maybe I should discontinue using WMP 10 to
burn CD's.

I tried it again earlier before I left here and went to work.
I didn't have time to play it back here at the house, so I gave it a spend
on a CD player at work.
What do you know, even with that one, I'm experiencing the same problem that
I did before.

So I guess it's either Express Burn or Winamp.
My best regards.

Re: CD BURNING QUESTION

2010-03-30 Thread Robert Logue

Two more ways to get there instead of the tools, options menu:

File, cd and devices sub menu, burn audio cd. Or: view menu, go to sub
menu, burn. Then tab around till you hear display properties and settings
button and press spacebar.
Fast way to get there is alt+v, g, b. Then ctrl tab to move to the burn
pain .

Hello list members,
I used Windows Media Player 10 to burn an audio CD.
But when I played it back on my stereo, I heard degradation in the
right speaker.
I thought I was hearing things, so I tried the CD on another stereo
that I have here in the house.
Needless to say, I heard the same thing on that one too as well.
Even the highs weren't sounding the way they're suppose to.
But when I used Express Burn to burn those same files to CD, I didn't
hear what I heard on the first one that was burned by Windows Media
Player 10.
My question is, why is this happening with one CD burning software
and

not the other one?

I tried it again earlier before I left here and went to work.
I didn't have time to play it back here at the house, so I gave it a spend

Re: CD Burning

2008-05-28 Thread Curtis Delzer
grin yes, my point is that if you have an archive with several mp3
files in it, you can use your computer to play them within the
archive, but if you want to do anything else, you must de-archive
them first to a directory on your computer, then, burn them to a cd,
either as data, meaning they won't be changed, or as audio,
meaning the software will do the magic to turn them into audio cds. grin

Unzip the file first. Press alt F while on the file and arrow down until
you hear extract and press enter. This assumes you're using XP. After it's
unzipped get rid of the zipped file just to make things easier. Now, you'll
have a traditional file which you can burn to a disk.

Fwd: Want easy cd burning software for lazy people?

2008-05-11 Thread Steve Pattison
From: Theresa Granger
To: GW-info

To lazy people and people who don't want to learn much:

This program is not meant for all of you guys that have mastered window eyes
with Nero, Roxio, xp, etc.

I know it's cheating, but if you haven't managed to master burning cd's with
Nero, windows xp or Roxio, you need to check out a demo of this program. The
demo gives you 30 free burns. It is Premier cd/dvd creator by Premier
Assistive Technology. It doesn't even do but a fraction of what Nero or Roxio
can do, but it does not require use of the mouse at all! It was written with
screen reader users in mind.

I might be slow or something, but so many people on this list say how easy Nero
is. A couple of years ago, I didn't seem to have any problems with Nero 6, but
Nero 7 eludes me. I don't burn cd's enough to remember how to use it from one
time to the next. (I have to fight with figuring it out every time.) Also, I
am personally only interested in making regular audio cd's, data cd's and data
dvd's. The Premier cd dvd creator is enough to do this. It came with the user
manual, but I haven't read it yet -- and probably won't. I simply started
hitting tab and looking around. It was made for simple-minded people like me
who require options such as make audio cd, make data, etc. Just tab to it
and press enter. If you go to the help menu, you can find out all of the
keystrokes, but that's not really necessary. Just press the alt key and check
out your menus. (The only ones you need to remember are F7 for select folder,
F8 for select file and F6 for write options.)

Check out the demo -- it's free, (under the products link) at:
www.readingmadeeasy.com
(reading made easy)

Forever lazy (except for when I'm at work)
Theresa

PS: If anyone is willing to give me fail-proof 1-2-3 a-b-c step-by-step
instructions for Nero 7 (the kind of instructions designed for dummies), I
would be more than happy to give it another chance!!!.

Re: CD Burning Problem

2007-10-16 Thread Kevin Lloyd
If the tracks have been ripped from a CD drive with no offset problems, you
should be able to join them together using goldwave. I've done this many,
many times, especially with Pink Floyd albums and the results have been
seemless. If the drive they were ripped from does have a slight offset
problem it might explain a noticeable blip between the track joins.

I'm using Nero Burning Rom to burn some CD's which have tracks which run
together--most notably, Pink Floyd and Chicago.

No matter what I do I cannot get the transitions between tracks to go
smoothly. I've even tried a couple different ideas in GoldWave.

I would appreciate any ideas on how to correct this problem.

 Thanks.

Audio CD Burning Software that Works with Windows Vista Home Premium?

2007-06-04 Thread Kenneth Washington
Hi gang,

I'm having major problems trying to get Nero Ultra 7.9 to work under
Windows Vista Home Premium. Everytime I attempt to create an audio CD
using .WAV files, the program hangs and Windows Vista prompts me to
Wait or Close.

I'm sick of it!

Can anyone suggest a good Audio CD burning program that works under
Windows Vista Home Premium. It must allow the creation of Gapless
CDs. Meaning no 2 seconds of silence will be inserted after each
track. I have a lot of Live CDs to burn and having 2 seconds of
silence after every track takes away from the listening enjoyment.

Thanks for any help.

Winamp CD Burning Issue

2007-01-15 Thread Wes Derby
Okay, I've had an error that's been popping up lately, just all of a sudden the
last few days, and I'm hoping someone here can help. I'm running WinAmp 5.32.
The error is pasted below:
Nullsoft Burner Error
Error during Audio CD burning process.
Library error: The SCSI command sent by the function returned a check condition.
Drive error:Power Calibration Area Is Full

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Winamp Pro, and it hasn't made a
difference.

I looked for info in the Troubleshooting section of Winamp to no avail...I
also tried joining the Winamp Forum, but they have one of those visual
verification things, and unlike many sites, don't appear to have a link for
blind and visually impaired users who can't see the image to be able to get
help...So, so much for that.

Any help on how to correct/get around this problem, or what it actually means,
would be appreciated. Thanks.

Nero 6, big difference is that the Nero wizard is no longer

to hit control-1 to paste from the files' window to the compilation window.

copy by accident of a disk. I need to be able to copy CDs and maybe even
DVDs, although the DVDs are data disks and nothing more, with OTR or
books on them. Does anybody have any suggestions? I want a burning

to use Nero 5.5. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Kurt

Re: best CD burning program for making CD copies

2006-01-16 Thread nick danger
Hi,

I tried to use easy CD creator back in its infantcy and that was pretty much
a nightmare. I've been using nero for the last 4 years and haven't had any
troubles with it. I'm using ultra version 6.6 right now and it gets the job
done without any hassles. Like they say, If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

 Hi,

I agree with you, both philosophically and also in your
 favorite cd/dvd burning software!

 Rusty
At 09:11 PM 1/14/2006, Don Ball spake thusly:-
Why did you stop using the Nero program. I have been using easy CD creator
6
for three years. I know there are newer programs out there but I use what
I
like in spite of that. Did the Nero stop working in some way. Now if the
cd
data base stopped working or some such thing I would have to change
programs. Until then I am staying. You don't have to have the latest thing

I am going to be buying Premier CD creator so I can be sure of copying
files and folders for my OTR. Is there a program which is easy to use to
completely copy commercial CDs? I have gotten a nero 6 but only made one
copy by accident of a disk. I need to be able to copy CDs and maybe even
DVDs, although the DVDs are data disks and nothing more, with OTR or
books on them. Does anybody have any suggestions? I want a burning

Thanks. I eventually discovered that, and, rather than convert all my files,

must be recorded at 16-bit stereo and 44.1khz. This is the standard.

2004-11-29 Thread Kevin Shields
Marie, good advice on blank CD's. I have yet to find that I have a
problem with CD's I've burned in my computer, but I'm sure that time will
come. But I've had to throw away CD's that have errored in my home CD
recorder. With kassettes, there was always, or most of the time if
something went wrong, you could maybe fix the tape, by splicing it or
what ever. But with a CD, when it errors, or you get a bad CD, the only
thing you can do is to use it as a koster, or throw it away. When I get a
CD that's bad, I hold it over the trash canand in to the trash can a bit,
bend it in half till it brakes. But be careful of the sharp edges of the
small pieces, when you do this. They tend to fly. That's why I hold the
CD in to the trash can before braking it. Sure is a good way to take out
your frustrations on a bad CD.

Re: nero or cd burning question

2004-11-29 Thread Donald L. Roberts
Hello,

It has been my experience that often the problems which are found in audio cds
occur
because someone tried to burn the cd too fast. I find it silly that people
brag that
their burners can burn at 48 or 52 x when many cds can't be burned at those
speeds. For
that reason, I burn most audio cds at 8 x although I burn data cds somewhat
faster.

Imation from Office Max or Regata from
Radio Shack. Something that is a more
reliable brand and will work every time.
The cheaper the disc, well, it's like
buying the cheapest cassette, and you
know what happens there: bad quality
sound and tapes very uneven in
 recording.

Also, I have Nero set to play a trumpet
 sound when a disc is burned successfuly;
a dragon when it is not. When the
dragon sounds, I just throw the disc
out, because I know there is nothing I
can do to fix it. You burn CDR's once.
Rewriteable discs, you can burn for a
limited amount of time. Some CDRW discs
I bought, I found some bad ones in the
pack, as well. There is no way for a
blind person to tell when a bad one's
coming up until it is burned. Yes, it's
 annoying!

The other thing I had to do is slow my
burner speed down. 52x is too fast for
my processor. When I talked to someone
at Radio Shack about this, that's when
they told me this. I thought that could
be the trouble, but had to have someone
else confirm it. Radio Shack sells
computers, too. I guess you did not
know this. Also, if you are ever in the
market for a new computer in the future,
why not ring Excell here in Sacramento
about it when you're ready? They sell
computers to the Society for the Blind
here, and won't treat you like a dummy.
In fact, I am thinking of getting them
to fix me up with my next system. You
remember Excel, don't you? And, of
course, that's where Curt got his
computer. I'm sorry my answer baffles
you in some way, but I have to tell you
that not all CD's are created equal. I
stay away from real cheap ones, even if
the deal sounds good. I'd reather pay a
little more for good blank discs I can
rely on year after year. It's very
 crucial to me.

Re: nero or cd burning question

2004-11-28 Thread RQJ
Hi Mimi, and Marty,
Best to stick with name brand media, and burn at the slowest speed for best
results.
Here is something interesting ,I found out.
Some burners work best with certain media, and sometimes, the manufacturer
of the burner will say which brands.
Although this is more the exception than the rule.
Here is what I have done to get the right cd's.
I started out buying 5 packs of cd's until I hit on one that gave good
results with my burner.
Fortunately, I only had to buy 2 different ones, and ended up with Memorex.
There is a website which has more imformation about cd's, but I can't
remember the name,
however, you can get to it from the following website.

Re: nero or cd burning question

2004-11-28 Thread Marty Rimpau
Hi, mimi, the frustration is, that this disk I got in the mail is the
third disk where it either A., doesn't work, which happened with one of
the four disks, or, not all the files play on the disk, or, if they
start, they cut off, and I don't want to be in a position where I have
a disk where even 99 of the 100 files play fine, but the last one cuts
off, or, doesn't play when I press enter, because I'm still on the
list, and it is now apparent, that the person volunteering to help me
out, buys his cd's in bulk, and is content to throw ten of the disks in
a batch of 100 away, for example, but I have never had a cd burner, and
have no bench mark to compare things with, and so when the person says,
I'll burn you another, I'll burn you another, over and over again, I
have to ask, and sorry for the rant, but, how many disks do we go
through, before finding a good disk that's perfect? I am prepared, if
I have to, to spend about 50 cents a disk for a music cdr, and I
understand that tdk, memorex, and foogy are good, particularly tdk, but
this person, didn't tell me, until last Tuesday night, that he didn't
have the money to spend on premium disks that wouldn't fail, and while
that might be fine, I at least think that the quality of the disks
you're burning should be good enough, where, if they work on your
machine, they'll work on any machine that plays them, hope this is not
an unrealistic expectation, but when you've never had a disk not work,
you wonder.

I'm not sure if this is in keeping with the subject line here. But I just
had something happen that's..well..kind of along this same line; a friend of
mine burned a CD for me..one that he had bought. It won't play on my CD
player that is hooked to my stereo receiver; for that matter..it doesn't
seem to want to play in the CD player in the bomb box! After checking this
out..I discovered that the CD he used is a CDRW! Does this account for why
it didn't burn correctly? The CD will play on my computer..but doesn't seem
to want to play on my other CD players. I have also heard that..how
slow..or how fast..you burn a CD can have a baring on whether a CD will play
on a conventional CD player. Insidently..the CD player I have back here is
an old Sony that I got for Christmas in either 90 or 91. I'm told that this
can make a difference. Is this correct?

Hi Tom,

Yes, you are right in thinking that it will depend on how old the said cd
player is as to whether it will play the cd's. It tends to only be newer cd
players, in my experience from the year 2000 onward, and dvd players that
will play burned or copied cds.

Re: nero or cd burning question

2004-11-28 Thread RQJ
Hi Tom,
CDRW's, should be used for data disks only.
For burning audio disks, use CDR's.
Several factors come into play here,
if you want an audio disk to play on other devices other than your computer,
it should be burnt as an audio disk, the format is CDA.
This format will play on most CD audio devices, and some DVD players,
if the player supports that particular format.
Likewise, if you want to make an audio disk, with mp3's on it, this can be
done by simply burning a data disk,
using a CDR.
This type of disk will also play in other audio devices, as long as the
device supports that format.
No matter what type of disk you are burning, you should always select the
slowest speed avbailavle, make sure all other applications are shut down
before starting the burn process.
The reason for this, is because the burn process is processor intensive, no
matter what your processor speed is.
Computer activities, can be a little quirky at times, so you want to create
the best possible environment for creating CD's.
As I mentioned in a previous response to another question,
you should do a little testing to find out what brand of disk gives you the
best consistent results.
I don't mind spendingmore on good quality disks, because it is cheaper than
throwing away a lot of poor quality disks.

Richard Justice
