An Ipod without a computer
Hi! Does anyone know of a device or Hi-Fi system that could let a person use an Ipod without a computer? I'm sure you all know that in order to get the songs onto an Ipod you must have a computer to facilitate the importing of your CD collection or to download tunes from the Itunes music site or similar. I'm not worried about the downloads side of things, just wanting something to enable the ripping of CD'S to an Ipod, anyone any Ideas? Something in the air
Hi! I just cannot live without my Airport Express, Airtunes, Airfoil and Airfoil Speakers, these things are just so handy if you want to stream audio around the place. For the uninitiated, the Airport Express is a small Network base station just right for those who are starting with a wireless network and a couple of machines, this device has an analogue/digital audio output which can be connected to a Hi-Fi system, external speakers and so on, you can use this as a pair of "Speakers" in Itunes thus streaming audio from Itunes to your Hi-Fi. Airfoil is a piece of software which "Hijacks" the audio from an Application such as DVD Player or Safari and streams it to the Airport Express or Airfoil Speakers. Airfoil can be thought of as a tool to turn a computer, Iphone or Ipod Touch into a pair of speakers which Itunes or Airfoil will recognise and stream to. So given all that there is one huge problem, suppose you're streaming your Itunes library to your Airport Express or whatever, there's no way to control previous or next track selection remotely or is there, does anyone know of or have they heard of a tool which may allow remote operation of Itunes somehow? ** Dane Trethowan >From Melton Victoria Australia mailto:"grtd...@internode.on.net Twitter: http://twitter.com/grtdane blog: http://www.grtdane.wordpress.com Phone United Kingdom 02032874641 Phone Australia 0390058589 Phone United States 8159261869 Fax: +61 3 9743 7954x MSN grtd...@dane-trethowan.net skype:grtdane12 ** To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

Using platforms listed above, I went there and get the following messages... 1. I have the Java scripts turned off.. 2. I do not have the current version of flash player. Any thoughts on how I may get this, or any other youtube files to open? I have W/mediaplayer set as my default player. Some questions about batteries in the Olympus DM-520
I just placed an order for the Olympus DM-520 and was reading through the manual which I found online at www.olympusamerica.com. In reading, I saw that when using the supplied rechargable batteries, one must connect the unit to a PC and hold the stop button until the indicator lets one know that the unit is charging. How is this accomplished if you can't see the indicator? If I choose not to use the rechargable batteries and just plop some regular batteries in the recorder, will the recorder try to charge the nonrechargable batteries when I attach it to the PC to transfer files? RE: Youtube..getting it to play
Are you using a web browser to get to Youtube? If so, it sounds like this is where your problem is. Assuming you're using IE8, go into Tools -> Internet Options. I'm not exactly sure how to fix your problem, but I'd suggest going over to the Security tab and trying different zones and different levels of security for each zone. Once you find the lowest security level that let's you use Java script, you can decide if there are other security settings you want to customize. To get the latest Flash Player, go to the Adobe site and look for a download. It looks like http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ should do the trick. -- Christopher chalt...@gmail.com -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Morey Worthington Sent: Saturday, December 05, 2009 9:57 PM To: Pc-audio Subject: Youtube..getting it to play Hello all, Using W/Vista Home premium, Jaws 11, W/media player 11. RE: Some questions about batteries in the Olympus DM-520
Re batteries on DM-520 1. When USB is connected from the pc, you need to select (with voice feedback whether you want to charge, or connect the unit for data transfer. 2. It doesn't automatically try and charge any batteries, you either need to initiate this, or select the mode. 3. I had some reliability problems - but really didn't dig deeply to resolved it, with the supplied batteries, which it said were fully charged, but which were behaving oddly, so I mainly use regular AAA's in the device. 4. As with the DS-71, the batter level is announced when ever you power the machine off and on, so it is easy to be sure your batteries have sufficient juice for a recording session ahead.
