won't (or can't?) say what the problem was.

Very strange indeed. I have to ask - what made you decide to try that? By

Hmmm - don't think I can help. I don't use Windows Live Mail. For normal
email
I use Thunderbird but for the PDML I use my lyons-ryan domain's web mail
so

that
list messages don't get mixed up with other mail.

Perhaps there are others who might have a better insight into the issue.

quick skim so far, but it's very nicely done. Thanks Mark! and everyone who
contributed. Things like this are an inspiration. :-)

All insects numbers have declined. On apiaceae, the white umbrella like
flowers, you normally find dozens of insects. Currently none or one insect.
A clean windscreen is very very strange and a flower feeld without any
buzzing even stranger if not scary.

We have one small photography store in this area (about 20 minutes by car.
They carry very few Pentax items, but in the past, I have told them what I
want and how much it is selling for at B or KEH, and they will order it
and discount it as close to the NYC price as possible.

I hope they hang in there and stay in business until my eyesight fails

Re: PESO Silver-studded blue

What tends to happen when ecological balance is disturbed is that competition
or predation for certain species is reduced and they breed prolifically. For
example, reduction in ladybird numbers due to invasion by alien competitors has
allowed their aphid prey to increase numbers exponentially. You will usually
find that the majority of roadkill on the front of your vehicle is very limited
in diversity.

Re: Pentax Photo gallery

2018-05-22 Thread Daniel J. Matyola
The Pentax Photo Gallery is back online, and appears to be functioning
normally. Both Bong and I have been able to log in and access the images.

The approval process is now almost 7 months behind. I don't think that is
explained by a smaller pool of voters, because the pool of submitters would
also have decreased proportionately. I think it is a case of benign
neglect by Ricoh.

For the time being, I shall continue to submit and vote, even though I
suspect the gallery's days are numbered.

I read something about this on the CBC news website (or I may have heard
it on their science program Quirks and Quarks). Anyway, what you are
seeing is the end result of an overuse of pesticides on crops.
Eventually, farmers will have to use Q-Tips to hand pollinate their
crops as we kill all the pollinators along with the pests.

Except there won't be any cotton to make cotton swabs with..
Oops.
I suspect we have, at most, a couple of decades before the entire
ecosystem collapses under the weight of our collective stupidity and
hubris and we all starve to death.

Bone up on your cockroach recipes, that might be the entree of the future.

Subject: PESO Silver-studded blue

This one is almost gone, like all insects. Apparently all insects show a
70-80% decline in the last years. Can't remember the last time I had to
clean my windshield from splashed insects.

Bear Images Photographic in Palo Alto. There are near where K used to be, on
Lambert Street. They don't have a storefront, they cater mostly to commercial
and professional photographers. I did a lot of business with them when I was
running my photo business a decade ago. Good folks.

SJ Camera used to be another good shop, but now all I see there is mostly the
kind of stuff that I bought and was done with an age ago. I see little of the
old store where the personnel are knowledgeable and helpful to someone past the
newbie period of photographic efforts. It's sad ... that would be a great and
convenient place for me if there was anything there I needed or wanted, it's
just three miles away.

I think K has been gone two or more years now. I knew the guys there for
twenty-five years at least. They were a full service shop, with consumer and
pro sections, darkroom section, their own processing lab, a repair department,
and a gallery room that I hung at least a few photos in one or two exhibitions.
I was very sad to see them go out, but all the profit had disappeared from the
business with the rise of internet buying and ebay. People would go there, get
loads of help and information from them, and then go buy their equipment
elsewhere at cut rate prices. The processing business that used to fund a lot
of that is simply non-existent now. A B just cannot survive that scenario in
this area, the cost of doing business here is too high.

Pretty shot!

There were certainly enough insects kamakaziing into my faceshield on my way to
and from Orange County this past weekend. I had to stop and clean off the
shield at least three times on the way down and then again on the way back. If
the little buggers would stop flying into cars, trucks, and motorcycles ...
LOL!!

I should stop back and visit it again. I've visited the mission a couple of
times, at least once when my mom was visiting me, but the most recent of those
times has to be 23 to 25 years ago. I remember some interesting story about the
organ there, but don't recall what it was.

It would be a nice day ride there and back, and there might be some nice photo
ops ... Some time this summer! :-)

Waiting for lens number three now. I see from the UPS notice that the weight is

arrives in the Pentax box I will again refuse delivery. Amazon will have to
refund my money, but they might cancel my account. They do that.

Here's one of Mom and the kids:

full set for them that are interested:

All shot with the sigma 50-500 on the K-3II, with a few of them I set up
lights to get a few more photons under the eaves.

And in the department of just because I could, some photos of a hummer
taken at 75mm

"duck duck".

:Re: :Re: Test::

2018-05-22 Thread Alan C
I use Live Mail like that. Separate folders for everything & Storage
Folders/Archives too. I did set up Thunderbird yesterday (just in case) but
am reluctant to leave Live Mail in spite of the fact it is now discontinued
by Microsoft. It was a big wrench leaving Outlook Express which didn't work
beyond XP.

that way of working.
