Re: Irfanview replaces Adobe Camera Raw for PS CS2

2018-07-30 Thread J.C. O'Connell

Once I get the K5-IIs, I'll just switch over to the dng format for good.
I'm not sure which interface will launch when I open the dng files in cs2
though, acr or irfanview, well see.

PESO Rachel of Hotsy Totsy

2018-07-30 Thread Larry Colen
This Jazz singer is not Ms. Denoise. The band Hotsy Totsy (formerly
Rose and the Honeysuckers) played at the monthly live music night at the
local swing dance. I hadn't planned on taking photos, but on my way in
the band asked me if I was going to, and I took the hint.

I feel that the majority of the aesthetic value of this photo is due to
the subject matter rather than the photographer.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/43755300141/in/album-72157693855328620/

The lighting absolutely sucked. Most of the light is above and behind
the band members. There is a color changing LED lamp to the left of the
band, so much/most of the front lighting is in wonky colors.

At one point I got a battery powered LED lamp (from costco) and put it
on a speaker to try and improve the lighting. It helped but not enough,
so I went back out to my van and got a LED headlamp and played with it.
I make it a point to avoid using flash at dances, but I realized I could
cheat and still avoid using flash.

Good luck with calendars this year..

I checked out FAA - don't think I would bother. Retail prices about the
same as cafe press for the duvet twin , no curtains and no pillow
casesso not much point unless the fabric was superior to c p.

I've been on cafe press for years as a designer -- I don't have to pay
them anything at all- I get 10% royalties on anything they
sellin the market place.  I have a few hundred designs loaded... its
like stock photography :-)   I was sorry they are nto offering wall
calendars
anymore for new designs but theystill have a bunch of my calendars
listed there - they will doubtless continue to offer wall calendars
until their stock

runs out.  since I have the thoer palce, I don't mind.

Best,

Good job JC. I have this lens and use it with an Olympus Pen F.

Irfanview replaces Adobe Camera Raw for PS CS2

2018-07-30 Thread J.C. O'Connell

Last week I was looking for solutions for developing K=5IIs raw files
into jpgs as my ACR for PS CS2 does not support that camera. Someone
suggested
Irfanview, so I installed the latest version V4.51 64 bit. opening the raw
files
from my istDS to try it, I was disappointed compared to ACR and PS CS2. I
left

Irfanview installed on my system however.

Then later, something interesting happened. While in PS, I opened a istDS
raw file
from the file menu and instead of ACR interface kicking in, an Irfanview
interface
kicked in, with sliders for exposure, shadows, highlights, brightness,
colorspace,
etc and an "open" button. Basically its a replacement for ACR, but if Im
lucky, it
is up to date with all models of pentax DSLRs and it should be able to
open K-5IIs

raw files as well as istDS file.

Anyone else using irfanview interface instead of ACR with PS?

Although my sample photo doesnt show it, the lens is known for excellent

It and the vivitar series 1 version both go by the nickname "Bokina".

2018-07-30 Thread Paul Stenquist
Interesting. He mentions the Vivitar Series 1, 90/2.5 and says it’s heavier. It
is indeed because it’s all metal and built like a tank. He also fails to
mention that the Vivitar came with an optical converter that makes it 1:1. I
was heartbroken because I thought workers had stolen my pristine copy, but I’m
happy to report that I found hiding at the rear of a shelf just the other day.
