It's a $350 travel tripod,  $700 if you want carbon fiber. That's more
than twice as expensive as an equivalent Manfrotto BeFree and the carbon
fiber BeFree is on sale for $150 less than the Aluminum model.  I never
thought that Manfrotto products were inexpensive before.

I've also got the original Q & the K-01. The Q is my take-anywhere camera,
simply because I can fit the body, 2 zooms and a couple of spare batteries into
a ridiculously small pouch. The K-01 produces fine images but both it and the Q
are virtually unusable in sunlight. Neither can come close to my two Olympus
OMDs. My K-5 rarely gets a workout these days and I know for sure that I'll
never buy another DSLR.

I have got the original 'Pentax Q', a mirrorless with a tiny sensor, which
works quite
well when there is enought light. (I have one prime and 2 zooms with that)

That is the big disadvantage on the simpler mirrorless cameras,
like the K-01 and the 'Q'.

However, on a more upscale model like a Panasonic D9 or the Sony A7
the EVF makes up for most of that.

I still prefer an OVF in most cases, but there certainly are situations

I have two mirrorless digital cameras, both Pentax. I use the WG-3 GPS for
the beach, snorkeling and canoeing. I use the K-01 for street photography,
indoor events, and anywhere I want to keep my camera and lens compact.

I find it much harder to compose with a mirrorless than with a DSLR. ( I
mostly use my K-5 IIs). I would imagine this to apply even more so to
photographers who are more serious and artistic in their work than an
"enthusiast" like me.

Notice that the Ricoh person comments on switching back after a couple

Some strong opinions indeed.

I know for sure I am going to enjoy the optical viewfinder and very good IQ
from my K1 for a long time.

That said, I have been seriously looking at the Panasonic G9 (micro-4/3) and a
few
of the Panasonic/Leica lenses for that, specifiacally the 100-400mm.
(which is an 800mm equivalent on micro-4/3)

For action, birding, but also video and focus-stacking it would be far superior
to the K1,
although the IQ is a bit less due to the smaller sensor (less DR, more noise).

But hey, who said we need to choose one over the other, when we can have both :)
