A long time, yes; but I clearly remember the video you starred in with your
K10D (or maybe the K10 starred, with you). It was during one of those moments
when Pentax thought that some advertising might not be a bad thing.

2019-09-23 Thread Rick Womer
That’s a lovely photo. I like the three layers of falls, and the color of the
rocks. I might have brightened the whole thing a bit, and definitely the far
left, which goes to black with bits of green.

I spent eight years in Rochester many moons ago. I haven’t visited the Finger
Lakes since I left (though I have visited Rochester several times).

I've always believed OT was meant to indicate non-Pentax though still related
to photography, not open to other issues.

This is however the Pentax Discussion Mailing List.

I believe most of those had some relevance to photography.

I'm sorry I offended you, Ken:

  In my defense:
This thread is clearly marked "OT" and "political", so no one who is not
interested has to even open it.
I never argued any side of any political issue, just marveled at the
strangeness of it all.
Participation is the list is so low l thought any discussion would be helpful.
There are important and fascinating events happening all over the world.
This is the only group I belong to that has a broad international membership,
and I am curious to see how people in other parts of the globe feel about these
events.
There have been many long discussions about cars, bikes, hiking and other
non-photography topics to which I never objected.
There has been damn little photography discussion here of late, or in fact,
discussion of any sort.
Back in the day, this list was very valuable to photographic hacks like me,
because when we posted something, several list members would point out all the
flaws, and a few would even offer guidance on how to approve the image. Now
the comments are similar to those found on FB, if indeed there are any at all.

Your point however is well taken. I shall cease and desist, and go away
quietly.

Re: Pentax Photo Gallery - Revived?

2019-09-23 Thread John
It's in the upper right of the GREY area, just above the 3rd artist on the top
row (I see three across when I click on Artists).

It's just a small banding box the same color as the background - Grey on Grey.

You come up when I search for you, but a search for "Dan Matyola" returns
"Sorry, No Artists Found".

I searched for a search box but didnt see it maybe a problem with my firefox

Ann, you don't have to scroll.
If you go to the "Artists" page, there is a search box in the upper right.

harumph.  what I uploaded today was decidedly not animals or nature :-)

but I like the new look and once I figured it out and got in it was a
much easier submission form than before... less work..

shouldn't have gotten into it today though -- too much actual work to do

I like the new look very much, but mostly I am just thrilled that Ricoh

I was not able to sign in, but using the search, I found my gallery, and
all the images are there.

I hope this is an indication that Ricoh intends to continue to support

and

court loyal Pentax photographers.

I don't think this has been posted before but it seems that the PPG has

It seems to be a work-in-progress - I can't find any way to search for a
particular photographer other than by scrolling down the 'Artists' Page
and the
old links to an artist's gallery no longer work.

Perhaps not dead after all?  But still work to do.

Cheers

Re: New Pentax Flagship DSLR Prototype to be Exhibited

2019-09-23 Thread John

I wonder if that's a real thing or just some kind of sarcastic comment by ADMIN?

So the Pentax 100 years meeting is/was to be held today, or yesterday based on

The New Flagship DSLR was/is to be exhibited there so I figured I would do a
search to see if there was more information on the new camera.

Instead I found this:

Truly RIcoh's marketing has absorbed it's lessons from Pentax and has become the
Best of the Worst.

Strangely enough I'd like one, but damned if I'll buy one.

I received this today from Pentaxforums and also from the Spanish Pentax/Ricoh
