Very nice set, Stan. I agree with Ken. I made numerous 12x18 prints from *istd
files. They held up well.

Charming, stunning and really beautiful. Those early Pentax DSLRs were
astonishingly good if you didn't overdo it with the ISO. I still keep my
*istDS because of its 'built-in' IR capability. Should also work with
the *istD.

Thanks for sharing.

Stan, don’t sell the *istD short. I’ve printed numerous enlarged images taken
with the istD and they’ve held up very well as wall hangings. I remember we

I am working on coordinating some day-trips in conjunction with a cruise we’ll
be taking this summer. A collaborator in the process is from Singapore. Which
reminded me that it had been awhile since I had revisited my pics from a

Re: Epson 2400

Could very well be build-up on the feed roller(s).  If the rollers don't
grab the paper right in order to feed it into the correct position the
sensor just tells the machine to eject the paper.

On my R2000 there's only on driven roller, all the rest are merely
guides.  Use an alcohol pad or small piece of cloth saturated with
rubbing alcohol held against the feed roller(s) and press the paper feed
button.  Do that a couple times and you should get the roller pretty
clean.  Happens with all papers but is most prevalent when you print a
bunch on matte paper.

Re: backpack recommendations

2020-01-31 Thread John

I have these two LowePro bags:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/278343-REG/Lowepro_LP19900_PEF_Mini_Trekker_AW_Backpack.html

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/279102-REG/Lowepro_LP19803_PEF_Nature_Trekker_AW_II.html

The Mini Trekker is sometimes too small (almost always too small) and the Nature
Trekker II is usually too large ... i.e. filled up it's *REALLY* heavy and
definitely *NOT* airline carry-on compatible.

I'm still searching for a "Goldilocks" bag.

I think in the current LowePro product line these bags might be the equivalent:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1077478-REG/lowepro_lp36775_pro_trekker_450_aw.html

Gearing up for GFM NPW, I'm looking for a new backpack and hoping to
gain a bit more altitude than in previous years, so that means
something suitable for light hiking. My current one is an ancient
Domke with detachable shoulder straps and zero built in padding. It
is literally falling apart. I'd like something a bit more modern that
fits the following:

Two SLR bodies with primes attached. Room for a couple more lenses,
some film, and the odd accessories like filters, batteries, remote
releases, SD cards, etc. If it has a laptop sleeve, that's fine, but
it's not critical. Some way to lash a tripod to the outside would be
extra nice.

Chest and waist straps would also be nice, but these aren't a deal-killer.

Does anyone have something they like, or would recommend? Thanks!

I'm not sure if this will help, but my Epson 4800 was doing the same
thing and it turned out that a little flap in the paper ejection
section, I presume it covers a sensor, had become dislodged. Putting it
back where it belongs cured my printer. I believe that our printers are
pretty much the same except for size.
