thanks Walter, for looking and the nice words. glad you liked them.
the shot you are referring, besides a couple of others there, were
taken with the sigma 10-20mm which i quite like though i am still
learning to use it well. it was taken just before sunset as the
fishermen closed for the day

About 12 years ago, when I spent one month travelling in the South of
India. Surely things will have changed, but your pictures look like the
Kerala I saw. In fact, I shot very similar scenes in the old part of Kochi.

Re: GESO: Kerala (was) Re: bazaar

2009-01-17 Thread Luiz Felipe
Subash, you have some very interesting images there. The one suggestion
I can think of is more attention to details.

One detail that did bother me was the man in the boat - needing either a
fill card or a very, very weak flash. The church, the boilers and the
the boat would be my faves. The boilers could also work without the boat
and the wires.

The sunsets are good moments but I'd change their framing - the horizon
is too close to the middle for my taste, and the one with the fishing
net could possibly benefit from a slightly different position. I also
liked the song, but the person in the foreground is sort of blending to
the ones standing in front of him - standing just a little to the left
would probably place him against the lighted floor. As they are, very
interesting images that could (for my taste) be even better with minor
changes. As I say that, it's not easy to compose a grabshot, and we
often have just one shot before we are noticed and the mood spoiled. But
if you have the chance, move a little and shoot again. ;-)

Please post more!
