Very cute. I wish that brush on the left of his head was just a bit
less intruding into his head. The difference between the barber and
your grandson's look on their faces is great. Obviously someone had
more fun than the other. It tells a nice story.

I like this one a LOT Gonz.
Perfect BW Photo. Only change would I'd have liked is to have the items on
the counter frame his face a little better.
Great family photo though.

A marvelous picture. Everything but the people just out of focus and
those two expressions. Give a copy to the barber for her collection.

Actually, Frank, Norman Rockwell was a great photographer. All his painting were
first shot on film in his studio then he painted the picture using the photo as
a reference. Remember, he started out before color photography. I tend to think
of him as an illustrator rather than an artist myself. Maybe the best
illustrator of American life who ever lived. Of course American life is no
longer much like what he illustrated, and probably was never quite as nice as he
made it out to be.

He was an illustrator, quite famous for his American patriotic and
slice o' life magazine cover illustrations. He seemed to specialize
in tow-headed youths, doing stuff like getting haircuts, going fishin'
and stuff like that.

I don't know that he was a great artist, or even an artist at all
(whatever the heck an artist is - sorry, don't want to get into that one
again g), but he was a wonderful and well-loved illustrator in his
time. I don't know that he captured America in the 40's and 50's,
rather I think he presented a fantasy of what Middle America thought it
wanted itself to be.

I seem to recall that he painted more than one (but at least one) young
boy in a barber's chair, which is why I thought of him when I saw Gonz'
photo.

Despite what may seem a cynical view of old Norman, I meant it as a
compliment when I mentioned Rockwell in the context of the photo.

cheers,
frank

I am with Frank on this one. Except the Norman Rockwell reference. I
simply don't know who it is - don't beat me, ok?

I am stealing your idea for future reference g...

Thank you. Yes, as I was looking at the photos shot during this
occasion, this one was my favorite and I thought it would make a nice
gift to the barber/stylist. She has been doing haircuts for our family

Thank you.
You caught the moment there, not only the grandson, but the semi-scowl
of the barber (do we call them stylists these days?).

Yes, she kept telling me to keep her out of the frame, but this one was
just too tempting! I'm sure she'll appreciate a copy though.

I saw someone else mentioned that darned brush. Yeah, too bad, but it
was there, you saw the smile, you had to snap. Nothing you could do
about it, and had you moved, the moment would've been lost. It really
doesn't detract, but it would have been a teeny bit better if it
wouldn't have been there.

Exactly. You don't have time to recompose in those moments.
A wonderful photograph. It's like a Norman Rockwell sort of shot.
thanks,
frank

Thanks Bob. I know, that's the first thing that caught my eye when I
reviewed the photos. I knew that I had possibly a real interesting shot
when I snapped it, but it wasn't until I went home and looked at them
that I realized what a classic set of expressions were there. I had
been concentrating on his face when it happened, so I did not know that
she would look like that. This one is going on my wall.
