A very attractive train - well captured.

Just across the road from the Santa Fe terminus is the Flying Star
restaurant where we dined on our two nights in Santa Fe. I remember
seeing the Rail Runner arriving while we ate. I would have liked to
have had the time to take the train to Albuquerque for a day trip.

Cheers

Thanks for looking, Larry.

Not even in New Mexico would they name their prized new commuter rail
system after that loser !

Actually, although I have heard it called "the Road Runner train," it is
officially the New Mexico Rail Runner Express, or NMRX. The line opened
only 10 years ago, and service to Santa Fe (from Albuquerque) began in
2008. There are nine engines, and the one shown is NMRX 101. There are 11
scheduled daily runs in each direction.
http://www.nmrailrunner.com/rio-metro-schedules/train-schedule/train-weekday
It apparently operates at a substantial deficit.

Which was entirely predictable. I like trains but they make no economic
sense if population density is below a certain level. We only approach
that density in the US in a very few places. I live in one of them and
even here they struggle.

I am a big fan of trains, old and new.

Thanks, Malcolm.

I shows how a little graphic design work can transform an ordinary train
into something interesting and even a bit artistic.
