No, like all good libertarians we call those who overreach their authority stateists. Those who finally rebel are called rebels. Terrorists are a different kettle of fish entirely. It really doesn't matter if they think there's a law or not. The police couldn't shut down an official press photographer that way, and the same rule applies to a casual photographer as well. I am sure this fellow will wind up with a nice monetary award. The problem with this is that people will either become afraid of stepping out of line with the police, making it easier for them to abuse their privilege, or else people will start baiting the police in an attempt to get monetary settlements from them for abusing their privilege. Neither is especially desirable. It's a pity the cops can't just do their jobs without abusing innocent people. Re: Photography = obstruction of justice?
This is so stupid and so ironic. Philly (where I live) is on its way to breaking its record for the number of murders in a year, which was set (IIRC) in 1993. The police say the main problem is the large number of intimidated people who won't cooperate with investigations--don't snitch is the rule in the streets. So, to encourage cooperation, the police are abusing law-abiding citizens. Sheesh.
