Re: PESO: Amaya II
Thank you, Bob. If I'm not mistaken (my memory of the layout at that location is a tad sketchy) that's a war memorial monument. The spot is located between the county courthouse and city hall, and there's a fountain in the center with various flower trees, shrubs and planters around it. It's actually a decent place to take photos if you can keep other people out of the background. But, yes -- I see what you're talking about. It's not quite enough to ruin the shot, but just enough to make me wish I'd framed it a wee bit differently. -- Walt On 7/20/2013 12:43 PM, Bob Sullivan wrote: Walt, Very nice photo and little to criticize. Thank you, Christine -- and thanks for the kind words on the B&W shot, as well. :) I'm actually kind of anxious to deliver this set to her mother. They really did turn out much better than I thought they would given the weather. And I think they represent, as a whole, my best work to date. Re: PESO: Amaya II
Thank you, Bruce! I am a bit of a contrast junkie, I admit. I almost always use the medium contrast curve preset in LR. I actually have CS2 installed (downloaded it when Adobe put all those licenses up on their server for the old apps), but have yet to use it on a single photo. I'm pretty much lost trying to use the tools, having no clue as to what adjustments are available, what those adjustments do, or much of anything else. There are just so many features that I'm at a loss as to where to even begin. I keep telling myself that one of these days, I'm going to sit down and learn how to use it, but it's like drinking from the proverbial fire hose. I'll see if I can figure out how to do what you're talking about, though. That would be a huge help in a lot of my photos. Thanks again! -- Walt On 7/19/2013 12:52 PM, Bruce Walker wrote: That's a real winner, Walt. It's all good: light, expression, background. The flash would help stop motion in the face. (I have a pretty much sure-fire retouch for shiny skin using Photoshop. Very soft Clone-stamp brush, Blend Mode Darken, Opacity 100%, Flow 5-10%. Thanks again, Gerrit. The K-5's shake reduction must be a bit better than the K-x's. I was able to get reasonably sharp images with it as slow as 1/30 sec., but I had to brace or rest my elbows on a solid surface to do it.
