hi folks, you haven't heard from me for a while, but i look in on the group now

Fastmail, which requires a modest payment and has no ads, no tracking; i
transitioned from Thunderbird to the web version about a year ago, but even
when using Thunderbird i wasn't seeing PDML hit my spam folder in any
significant way

So you guys think the test worked... alas, there is an odd annoyance
that attributed at first to communications only invloving email from Dan
when he sent mail using both PDML and my email address. turns out not
so. He just happened to be the first person who replied to me on list
when the problem started.

I have not updated to the latest Thunderbird version (yet) so I guess
that could be causing ths oddity... that is , abug that needed fixing.

I get an ! symbol on the bottom of the mail in bright yellow that says
"A unique identity matching the From address was not found. The Message
will be sent using the current From field and the settings from identity
ann sanfedele "

In otherwords, right now, although my table of contents has the name of
the PDML who responded to me , once I open it, said person disappears
from the "FROM" and is replaced by mine.

I get all the mail, but the little box to click reply or reply list or
reply all does not appear when I open any PDML mail written recently - I
am just typing above what came in..

... and the hot links in the incoming PDML mail don't work..

anyone know what could be causing this?

Re: Testing the weather sealing

2018-10-31 Thread Igor PDML-StR

Yep, I had figured out that expression, but it took me some time before
started thinking about non-literal meaning... :)

The curious fact is that in [at least] a few East-European languages, the
head can be called (very informally) a cauldron or teakettle.
Also, people can talk about something cooking or boiling in it, describing
the process or ability of thinking. E.g.

"The ball hit him on his teakettle". "His cauldron is cooking very well."
So, I suspect the original of the phrase you used might actually stem from
a similar usage. (The Stackexchange crowd wrote that the etimology is
unclear).

(But then "teakettle" is also often used exactly as "newb" in
English. "I am a total teakettle in tango.")

Cheers,

Igor

It's possible that the lenscap for the 15-30 hit the rock, there also
seems to be a little bit of dampness at the front of the 15-30. Water
might have gotten in around the lens cap there. The back seemed dry.

Re: Testing - using Thunderbiird software and plain text

Thank you Bruce.
I didn't have this book, but I just ordered it :-)

I have been shoting strobes since 1992 - attempting to learn by doing -
a very time consuming process - full of dissapointments - and joy :-)

I am using a PhotoCubic FlashBox A21 (good for allmost anything but
jewelry) and a Kaiser Toptable set-up for macro photography.

And I found the Alex Koloskov Youtube videos very useful.
Also I found the Elincrome Skyport trigger (hot shoe accessory) - that
allows me too adjust flashes from the camera, very usefull.

Re: Testing - using Thunderbiird software and plain text

2015-01-03 Thread Jens Bladt

Thanks for answering Steve and Dan

After a long break - a year - I finally found time to sort out my
mailproblem.
Though I have been reading some mails, , which I wnI haven't been able
to post messages.

It turned out my email supplier (one.com) had stoped supporting plain
text...

So, I got Thunderbird, which allows me to choose the format for outgoing
mails :-)

In the meantime I stoped working as an architect (urban planner) - and
now I'm a full time photographer - mostly product photography (pack shots).

I found out that jewelry is quite (very) challenging - especially silver
and white gold is difficult. What I am photographing isn't the silver,
but everything that is reflected from the mirror-like, colourless surface.

So, I got a lot of new lamps and strobes, boxes and tables. And even at
645D, whick I wanted for years. Unfortunatley I can't really justify
getting the 645Z yet, even though it seems to be a huge improvement with
high ISP, moveable screen etc.

Jens

If that was the topic Looking to get a compact camera for video,
probably waterproof then, yes, it came through as did Stan's reply.

Didn't see a second message, though.
