Interesting, you seem to be the only one with this problem.
By way of diagnosis:

Two ways of looking at the album on flickr

https://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/sets/72157708846575623

Here it is via flickriver:
https://www.flickriver.com/photos/ellarsee/sets/72157708846575623

It should be the first album in this collection of photos of vehicles
https://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/collections/72157605203126374/

And it's about the fifth (at the moment) in my list of albums

There were some VW utility/work vans that had doors on both sides. I've seen
them for sale on Samba.com

Did he really put a second set of side doors on it? IIRC, my VW Bus only had

One thing for sure: You're going to need earplugs to drive it. That thin little
wall and clear glass dividing you from that engine is not going to keep
interior noise under 150db... :)

Hopefully it is built on a frame with a bit better suspension than the VW
Transporter had. Or it's just a blaster for drag racing...

True enough. In fact, conventional dragsters are engineered to break just in
front of the engine in a collision. Plus, weight transfer is accomplished via
the chassis bowing. This guy is riding on the wrong and very dangerous end of
the machine.

Yeah, that would work well. I haven't seen that in SA yet. The popular
conversion here is the Ford 3L Big Six. The converted buses are mostly
used as towing vehicles but very heavy on fuel.

Very impressive. Clearly the fastest splitty on the planet. I
remember there were very quick Volksie buses with Corvair flat 6
engines (Volksvairs) some years ago but nothing like that. However,
they did manage to shoehorn the 6 into the engine compartment so the
buses still looked quite conventional.

These days the common swap seems to be to drop Subaru motors into the
Vanagons (the later style VW bus). A friend has one and says it has
twice the power and gets better gas mileage.
