Rick, I really like the point of view but:

* The building seems to have a bluish cast on its top part...
* It does not seem sufficiently sharp given that you probably were
shooting at infinity with well stopped down lens...

Boris,
What's the root of the word in Russian?

Råd means council in Norwegian.

OTOH, it gives a nice spin to the animal's latin name Rattus

Rådhus means City Hall. So you are quite right, it is rathouse. The
house where the rats work ;-)

Just for the record, it is Towns Hall.

In Russian we have a word Ratusha which means the same... Wonder
if this is yet another word we borrowed from the Vikings :-)...

creating a screensaver looks like an interesting job. Will you create a

Would pictures in landscape format not suit a computer screen better?

That's what cropping is for :)

That reminds me, I must start looking into making a calendar while
there's enough time before the end of the year. I'd love to do a
high-quality, limited edition large sized panoramic format calendar
but budgetary considerations might get in the way of that. Maybe
I'll just buy some kitten calendars instead.

N! You see, I'm only doing the pphotographing. I'm not, making the
screensaver. Some pro's are. They will lay out the whole buch very
artistically and probably show more that one photograph at the time.
But you are right - if I was going to make a slide show or PowerPoint

Thanks Markus.
I don't know. I have seen many kinds of screensavers. A bacground shot may
not be changing as often as the foreground picture(s). There can be added
text and other effects. I'm quite confident, that these guys can do a great
job (if the photos are reasonably interesting), no mater what the picture
formats are. I know that they have access to quite advanced software, that
can really do almost anything. It not a slide show. Whenever I make a slide
show, I'll use landscape formats only.

You're right, Boris. But it's not as sharp as I'd like it to be. I stick to

It's hard to judge my the jpeg's. I must do some serious RAW shots one of

But the 18mm wideangle is so nice in situations like this :-)
I must get myself a Sigma F.2.8/18-50mm or perhaps a Pentax 16-45mm. Or even
better: A F.2.8/16-60mm (equal to 24-90mm) - prefereably for less than 500

I don't think Pentax introduced any DA f/2.8 zooms this far. I don't
know how much sharpening is at 126 but please explain what you mean.

My solution was to buy a prime lens, Sigma 18/3.5 PAWs of which you saw.
I am yet to make large prints from this lens, but it looks reasonable.
And as a prime it still has less glass elements in it, so it is quite good.

I suppose I'd be taking it with me to London trip as a wide angle. We'll
see how it fares...
