That lens has been back on BH for almost two years now (that I've been aware of it) so I don't think it's proof of full frame. The last time I checked the price was $475, though. It hasn't been listed on the http://www.pentaximaging.com web site for any of that time. It was officially discontinued at BH three years ago and by Pentax at the same time. I don't think it's been there all that time, I kept haunting there hoping to find one. They could press a K-Mount onto a wet turd, stick a full frame sensor into the other end and I'd buy the thing and pretend that my shit doesn't stink. The main problem with Pentax's loyal customer base is that they got involved with Pentax because they were the budget brand. Note how every time a new model is released, the number of people who say they will wait until the price comes down outnumbers the people who actually buy the thing out of the gate. bill I'll let Pentax know. Re: Perhaps the rumors of a Pentax FF cameras are true after, all...
When I first bought into Pentax it mas a middle of the road camera manufacture that built rock solid hard to kill cameras. My original Spotmatic took a 3 foot drop onto concrete and after having the meter re calibrated took photos just as well as it had before, (but with a huge dent in it's prism housing). It did not survive the later fall off the 50 foot cliff to the jagged rocks below unfortunately, but that's another story. When I got tired of trying to swap screw mount lenses fast, (possible but usually problematic), I looked at a lot of different camera systems, and really was leaning towards either Nikon in the form of a nice Nikkormat FTn, (which I had used at a couple of Newspapers), Olympus with the tiny jewel like, OM1, or a Pentax KX. Anyway you looked at it I was going to have to buy all new lenses, Not a huge problem as I only had a 35mm f2.8 a 55mm f1.8 and a 150mm f4, which I[d gotten a fantastic deal on at some point. I really did like the 150mm aov. I had pretty much decided on an OM1, (and a Zuiko 70-150 zoom to keep the kit small), when Pentax announced the new M series cameras, and the MX which was pretty much the same price as the OM1 with a full information viewfinder, and Vivitar had just announced a 70-150mm Zoom that was just a little faster than the Zuiko, and was reputed to be the same Optical formula as the Legendary 70-210 Series 1. So I ended up with Pentax yet again. Not because it was less expensive but because of it's superior features at roughly the same price. Funny :) By the way, apparently Pentax Japan confirmed the FF, in a not-yet-released Pentaxforums interview. Since last year they started talking about FF (as in: we're developing it, marketing must think about a profitable solution). I hope a certain event involving a hat would be properly documented; fortunately, there is plenty of time to find the proper seasoning. Re: Perhaps the rumors of a Pentax FF cameras are true after all...
Well, when I bought my K10D in 2007 it was because I got it for the same price as the Canon Digital Rebel of the day. It was like comparing apples and oranges (if fruits could take photographs). The K10D out-spec'd the Digital Rebel every which way, and thus my fate was sealed. I've always said that all those people complaining about the lack of a FF Pentax would NEVER BUY IT if it were announced because it would cost ~$2,500, which Pentax cheapskates would find too high.
