Kostas,

Any idea what that lens will be and when it'll be released? I'm
suddenly in the market for something after the untimely demise of my
SMC-F70-210 while on holidays in Newfoundland. Definitely not the
highlight of my trip.

I'm trying to figure out how to replace it. Do I go with the 50-200? I
was also toying with saving up for a Tokina or Sigma 70-200/2.8. I'm
also toying with finding a half decent 200mm and perhaps start a
transition to primes.

life was so easy when I didn't NEED a lens. 'Course trying to justify
spending $$$ on a lens after holidays won't be the easiest thing
either.

Trying to unsubscribe by mailing your request to a mailing list is like
trying to cancel your party line phone service by calling all the other
folks on your party line! Most folks are smarter than this. When you
subscribed, you received an email telling you how (among other things) to
unsubscribe. Apparently, you didn't read it.

To learn how to unsubscribe from this list, go here:

I just created a utility like this in 4 minutes with AppleScript on Mac
OS X and checked it with a data recovery utility. All I get from the
data recovery effort is random noise back from the last iteration of
the write loop. It's pretty efficient, takes only about thirty seconds
to run on a 1G card.

Godfrey, I did not know you and I were kindred spirits ;)... Though I
am Unix/Windows guy. No experience with Mighty Mac.

Hi!

So what, you captured all the details, just use Photoshop and make the
door white or black. :)

May I interject... Thank you.

Correct exposure is about saving information, the information provided
by the light. If you misexposed, you lost some information forever. No
PhotoShop can get it to you if it hasn't been recorded...

Hence correct exposure does matter. May be not in the case of a door though
:).

pardon me list for leaving all the stuff he wrote
in replying -
that's how I save things - I never empty my sent
mailbox :)

Good info - of course I need to get some sort of
filter immediately
I simply cant keep a lens cap from getting lost...
and even if the
filter is next to useless it you can shoot in a
hurry with it in place
and it keeps the lens safe.

No trouble at all, in fact Doug did so for a long time. But they were still too
stupid to figure it out, or reading to the bottom of a message was too much
work. I guess a bit of code could be written to automatically forward anything
with unsubscribe in the subject to the list server. Then all us wise guys
could get kicked off the list every week or so too...

BTW when you consider 600 or so list members, probably 100 or so only staying on

fwiw, I bought one on ebay for about $700 three years ago,
then I got a M42 Tak version (no smc) about a year later for about $550,
 and then I sold
the SMC K version for about $900.

I prefer the M42 version as it's a manual lens anyway, fits more
cameras, and the lack of SMC
doesn't really mean much on a 5 element lens. What I could have done
in hindsight was kept the SMC version and swapped the rear mounts
so I would have had a frankenlens, SMC PENTAX, with M42 mount.
Never occurred to me until now
