The DFA* 50/1.4 was apparently too expensive, but the first 2 runs presold
prior to release.
As was, and did, the DFA* 85/1.4, and it was goofy expensive.
I'm not sure about the 70-210/4. It certainly didn't generate the buzz, but
it also isn't really a Pentax lens.

I agree that this will be tha fate of a K1III. I expect the 21Ltd will also
presell its first run, and quite possibly its second. Not a bad fate.

I'm not so hopeful about the updated 31, 43 and 77, though if they had put
them in new bodies with PLM autofocus motors they might have been onto
something. I'm not sure if new coatings and curved aperture blades are
quite enough. I really think they should have waited until after the 21Ltd,
and then given the legacy trio more than new lipstick.

That is a good shot.  It would have been better if it had been facing the other

Good job managing both focus and exposure.  Flowers are hard to get the 
exposure right without blowing out a channel.

Something I didn't mention was that those red flowers were the reason the bird 
was there, which is why I wanted to keep them.  I'll have another look at the 
other photos later and may post one of it feeding on them.

That is one of two trees it visits in our garden; the other is a banksia which 
is in much better light.  I think this tree is a bottlebrush.

That bird has been taunting me for ages but they move about so quickly and 
often announce their presence just before leaving.

Thanks, Paul, Alan and Rick.  I have a small "studio in a box" device that
comes with several different colored cloth background sheets, black, white,
red, grey and blue.  The blue seemed to make the flowers stand out better.

Ann, 

My deepest condolences on your loss, Ann. I'm sorry to be a day late seeing 
your note. 

I think I met Ashley first when she was a youngster and new to your friendship. 
And several times through the years since, last in about 2018 when i was there 
on my "big trip". She was a sweet kitty and a good friend. 

Our cat and dog friends are as much family as any humans we accept into the 
home. We must love them and let them go when they let Time go, just as with our 
dearest human friends. And remember them until our Time is done, so that they 
enjoy their eternity as well. 

Ashley will be long remembered and loved by many. Big hugz to you!

Yes, you are doubtless the Pdml'er who knew her best.. although Mark 
Roberts stayed here a number of years ago for a night or two and I 
thoink about a dozen others have come to visit at least once over the 
years.   I had had her for only about 6 months when you and Amita and 
Nate came for a lunch of pizza from Stromboli's and a photo shoot on the 
roof.


Thanks for the much needed hugz... from you and all the others here who 
knew her at least in Peso's and occasionally a video.

They certainly do. That's why we've always had two. It's still

I saw a message on my camera dealers website, which said that the first batch 
of the new K3 were due, and would go straight out to those who pre-ordered 
them. It won't be enough, so the next batch in next week will go out the same 
way - and anyone who ordered in the last week or from now it will be later in 
May when they see it arrive. I might have made the second batch to be sent.

The point is that a DSLR which supposedly is missing features and is very 
expensive is not so much flying off the shelves, but flying off before they 
make the shelves.

I see the future K1 iii selling as well as this.
