Since adding a.c.c. can be done without other changes, i'll just do that and wait for necessity to happen. > You might wanna consult d-devel@l.d.o - as you know my judgement have > been horribly wrong in the past :-) > > Hmmm maybe another time :) Jérémy ___ Pkg-javascript-devel mailing list Pkg-javascript-devel@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-javascript-devel

Hi Jérémy, Quoting Jérémy Lal (2015-05-17 19:56:06) > it seems dh_acc or direct call of abi-compliance-checker could play > the role of checking when the ABI breaks. > However, this doesn't fit well with a soname based on upstream > version: it could happen that version 3.50.1 is compatible with > version 3.49.12, and 3.50.2 breaking compatibility with 3.50.1. > So i'd like to move to an integer based soname that is incremented > each time there is a detected abi break by a.c.c. > I can do this as soon as the next v8 upload. Sounds good to me! I am not an expert in soname handling, though. I think the common thinking is that we should not as distro "invent" SONAME but leave that yo upstream, because ideally it should be identical across distros. But concretely for v8 I guess that is highly unlikely to happen - and we should deal with it when it does. You might wanna consult d-devel@l.d.o - as you know my judgement have been horribly wrong in the past :-) - Jonas -- * Jonas Smedegaard - idealist & Internet-arkitekt * Tlf.: +45 40843136 Website: http://dr.jones.dk/ [x] quote me freely [ ] ask before reusing [ ] keep private signature.asc Description: signature ___ Pkg-javascript-devel mailing list Pkg-javascript-devel@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-javascript-devel
