Package: kpowersave
Version: 0.7.2-2
Severity: minor

In the brightness settings, the slider is not updated when the
brightness is changed using the brightness keys on a
Thinkpad keyboard. Example:

1. Use KPowersave to set the brightness to maximum using the slider.

2. Use the keyboard brightness down key to set the brightness to
minimum. Note that the slider in KPowersave stays at the maximum.

3. Use the slider to lower the brightness. Nothing happens.

4. Stop about halfway and raise the level of the slider a bit. The
brightness increases, but KPowersave thinks it is much higher. So for
instance, KPowersave says the level is 61%, but the on-screen-display
from kmilo says only 14% (the next lowest level).

5. When the slider reaches maximum, KPowersave reports 100%, whereas
the level is really lower.

Hello,

When I made an upgrade of my Debian yesterday, with Kpowersace launched, HAL
was upgraded.
The s2disk process was called when the daemon was restarted during the
configuration process of the
hal package.
I could abort it without any problem.
I tried to reproduce this bug manually with success : a simple /etc/init.d/hal
restart causes the
system to suspend.
Pretty annoying ! :D

Package: kpowersave
Version: 0.7.2-3
Severity: important

When kpowersave is configured to lock the screen on suspend/standby, and if the
AC adapter state on resume is
different than what it was on suspend, the KDE session is lost. I'm greeted
with the kdm sign-on screen and the
other session is nowhere to be found. Needless to say, this can cause some
data loss depending on what any open
applications may be doing.

I have isolated this to the screen lock option; if I turn that off, this
problem consistently goes away.

One set of steps to reproduce:

- Start kpowersave
- Configure kpowersave to suspend to RAM when the sleep button is pressed
- Configure kpowersave to lock screen on suspend/standby
- Plug AC adapter in
- Press sleep button (Fn-F4 on my Thinkpad X60)
- After machine suspends, unplug the AC adapter
- Press the Fn button
- Machine resumes, but the session is lost and I'm greeted by kdm instead

I'm using Dell Inspiron 1520 and it is not listed in s2ram's whitelist.
I've added 'S2RAM_OPTS=-f' to /etc/pm/config.d/defaults.
/etc/default/acpi-support has SUSPEND_METHODS=pm-utils
pm_suspend works!
But when I'm trying to choose 'suspend-to-ram' action after right-clicking on
kpowersave icon it just locks the screen.

I'm not sure, maybe it's hal problem.

It makes user confused especially when don't know how determine this

Tested on Lenovo Ideapad -

Plugging/Unplugging the adapter is not reflected on the GUI. The system is
always shown as plugged in.

The full view (click on applet) gives correct time remaining till the battery
is off (same fo hover over the battery indication).

The ac adapter state is correctly reflected in /proc/acpi so this looks like a
kpowersave bug, not an underlying bug in the system.

Hi,

after suspending (uswsusp), kpowersave does not recognise PBTN ACPI
event nor my [Fn]-[F1] suspend-on-disk button (recognised by xev as
165 - NoSymbol).

It does on first boot but not after a suspend. However, if I simply quit
kpowersave, the PBTN is recognised by something else and if I relaunch
kpowersave, my suspend-on-disk button is recognised too.

Please ask for details !

Best regards,

Didier Raboud

Dear maintainers,

kpowersave is one of th emost useful applications in kde. But sadly I have
to report of a bug:

When kpowersave is activated and switching to suspend-to-ram, two things
happen

1. Suspending at battery-mode: At wakeup the screen is locked and the
screen-saver is started.

2. After unlocking the screensaver, the screensaver (with its settings) from
KDE are
activated.

It would be nice, of you could take a look at that. As I said, IMO kpowersave is
very, very useful!

May I ask for a wish?

I suggest to implement a new feature:

In the settings of battery (the one, where you can define the percent
related actions of the battery), I suggest to add an option, to add selfmade
profiles, too. I, for example, made an own profile called 0-level, where I
shut down all high processes (cpu down, lights off, screen off and so on),
but this cannot be choosen in that menu. Maybe you might like to add this
feature in one of the next versions? Would be nice!

All in all, thank you very much for this nice application and your work!

Best regards

Hans-J. Ullrich

Package: kpowersave

Hi,

Recently kpowersave had functionality updated such that it became
capable of dynamically recognising multiple batteries that have been
inserted into a machine. Just some feedback there, this does work well.

My Thinkpad X40 has two battery options which can be fitted at the same
time or idependantly and kpowersave does a very good job of working out
when one or both have been inserted or removed.

What does confuse it though is say if I boot up the machine fresh with
one battery installed and hibernate the machine (S4). Now if I
installed the 2nd battery and resume the machine, kpowersave will not
show this second battery has been inserted.

I have tried exiting kpowersave and starting it again and this has now
effect. I have also tried invokeing a restart of HAL which succeeds but
doesn't seem to help, even if I close kpowersave and start it again
after.

It is difficult to ascertain if this likely to be a kpowersave bug or a
HAL issue. If on the basis of what I have described (and your knowledge
of how kpowersave works in respect of what HAL tells it) you reassign
this bug to the HAL package, then so be it.

I just installed lenny on my new EeePC 900 using the custom installer
image. I use IceWM as window manager. kpowersave is started from the
icewm startup script after ksmserver.

When I press the power button just after logon, I see a dialog message
asking me what to do (logout, reboot, shutdown). But after suspending
the system using eeepc-acpi-scripts, waking up and pressing the
power button again, nothing happens. I need to restart kpowersave to get
this prompt working again.

When kpowersave is running, using the brightness-adjusting keys of my
laptop (which are Fn+KeyUp and Fn+KeyDown on my Inspiron 1420) causes
the brightness to skip states. For example, sometimes pressing Fn+KeyUp
will push brightness to the maximum value, even though there were a few
intermediate brightness levels.
Stopping kpowersave causes the keys to work normally. Disabling the
brightness-adjusting feature of kpowersave doesn't help.

Hi,

after suspending (uswsusp), kpowersave does not recognise PBTN ACPI
event nor my [Fn]-[F1] suspend-on-disk button (recognised by xev as
165 - NoSymbol).

It does on first boot but not after a suspend. However, if I simply quit
kpowersave, the PBTN is recognised by something else and if I relaunch
kpowersave, my suspend-on-disk button is recognised too.

Please ask for details !

Best regards,

Didier Raboud

I just installed lenny on my new EeePC 900 using the custom installer
image. I use IceWM as window manager. kpowersave is started from the
icewm startup script after ksmserver.

When I press the power button just after logon, I see a dialog message
asking me what to do (logout, reboot, shutdown). But after suspending
the system using eeepc-acpi-scripts, waking up and pressing the
power button again, nothing happens. I need to restart kpowersave to get
this prompt working again.

'General Settings' is configured to call shutdown when battery reaches
critical level, but shutdown is not being called. I allowed the battery
to drain out, it passed critical level, all notifications were issued,
but the laptop was not shutdown. The battery finally drained out
completely and the laptop was simply powered off, directly.

I'm attaching a snapshot of the general settings.

Recently I am unable to view or change the cpu frequency policy on my dual core
centrino, when returning from suspend to disk. If I remember correctly this
behaviour is present since the recent update of kpawersave in testing.
Restarting only kpowersave fixes the issue, so it cannot be related to eg. hal.

Hi.

Upoon startup, kphotoalbum prompts me with a dialog saying that Images/Videos
Are Not Sorted : ... you don't have EXIF support available... It is strongly
recommended to recompile KPhotoAlbum with the exiv2 library

Well... what can a regular Debian user do : something's missing during package
compilation ?

However, there seems to be a build-depends on libexiv2-dev, so it may not be
the real problem ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards,

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#521601: closed by Marco Rodrigues goth...@sapo.pt (Package kpowersave has been removed from Debian)

2009-12-27 Thread Anton Ivanov
Close it everywhere. It was doing it for the first week or so. From
there on it has been rock solid.

I suspect that it is doing it until the battery calibrates fully.

You filled the bug http://bugs.debian.org/521601 in Debian BTS
against the package kpowersave. I'm closing it at *unstable*, but it will
  remain open for older distributions.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/53. That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed and suggestions of possible replacements.

Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.

Thank you for your contribution to Debian.

  Package: kpowersave
  Version: 0.7.3-3
  Severity: important

  Tested on Lenovo Ideapad -

Plugging/Unplugging the adapter is not reflected on the GUI. The system is
  always shown as plugged in.

The full view (click on applet) gives correct time remaining till the
battery is off (same fo hover over the battery indication).

The ac adapter state is correctly reflected in /proc/acpi so this looks
like a kpowersave bug, not an underlying bug in the system.
