[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#875377: RM: hupnp -- ROM; unused, dead upstream

2017-09-10 Thread Pino Toscano
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hi,

please remove hupnp: it was supposed to be used by kde4libs/solid, and
kipi-plugins, but the former does not use it anymore, and the latter
had an own copy which lately got moved (and modified) to digikam.
Also, the upstream is dead, with no commits nor releases in the last
four years.

Thanks,

Don't get me wrong. I did not intend to push for a pre-release of
KMyMoney in Debian (unless speaking about experimental).

Anyways, I've just [asked] upstream for more details about a real KF5
based release.

The fact that "works for him" does not make it automatically
release-worthy material -- in fact, looking at the current Git master
(i.e. the current Frameworks branch):

  $ git grep -n TODO | grep -i port | grep -i kf5 | wc -l
  51

(to catch comments like "TODO: port KF5" or similar)

Upstream didn't publish any Frameworks version yet, and considering that
kmymoney manages accounts and money, I'm not keen to upload
pre-release/unstable/alpha/beta/rc/etc versions.

2017-09-10 Thread Micha Lenk
Control: block 874961 by 823215
Control: block 875012 by 874961

Hi kmymoney maintainers,

as the Qt maintainers announced recently, Qt4 is about to removed from
the Debian archive in the future. If I read the bug log for #823215
correctly, a Qt5 port of kmymoney is under way, but upstream didn't
publish an official release yet. Martin Steigerwald mentioned he
succeeded to get a "stable enough" build that he is using.

I conclude that in principle it should be possible to build kmymoney for
Qt5. We (Debian) probably need to ping upstream and ask them to publish
an official Qt5 ready release. Once we have that, we hopefully can
resolve #823215, which will probably automatically resolve #874961 too.
After that the libgwenhywfar source package can drop the Qt4 support (no
other package than kmymoney build-depends on it).

I am updating the bugs's block relations accordingly.

Regards,
Micha

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#875315: QJson removal form Buster

2017-09-10 Thread Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer
Source: amarok
Version: 2.8.0-8
Severity: important
User: debian-qt-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: qjson-removal

Hi! As you might know we the Qt/KDE team are preparing to remove Qt4.
This means that we need to remove QJson from the archive too.

In order to make this move, all packages directly or indirectly depending on
the QJson library have to either get ported to Qt5 or eventually get
removed from the Debian repositories.

Therefore, please take the time and:
- contact your upstream (if existing) and ask about the state of a Qt5
port of your application
- if there are no activities regarding porting, investigate whether there are
suitable alternatives for your users
- if there is a Qt5 port that is not yet packaged, consider packaging it
- if both the Qt4 and the Qt5 versions already coexist in the Debian
archives, consider removing the Qt4 version

= Porting =

Some of us where involved in various Qt4 to Qt5 migrations [migration] and we
know for sure that porting stuff from Qt4 to Qt5 is much much easier and less
painful than it was from Qt3 to Qt4.

Noreover porting from QJson to Qt5's QJson (part of the official API) tends to
be quite easy.

Don't forget to take a look at the C++ API changes page [apichanges] whenever
you start porting your application.

Currently Qt4 has been dead upstream and we are starting to have problems

Hi,

the following vulnerability was published for kde-cli-tools.

CVE-2016-7787[0]:
kdesu: Displayed command truncated by unicode string terminator

If you fix the vulnerability please also make sure to include the

Please adjust the affected versions in the BTS as needed. I'm not sure
if kde-runtime is as well affected (it looks source wise, since the
same file can be patched).

Package: kdesudo
Version: 3.4.2.4-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
if you try to restore the default kdesu behaviour (that is ask for root
password not the sudoer password) by running the command dpkg-reconfigure
kdesudo and aswering "No", then nothing happens unless your current locale is
english (or "C").
The workaround I found is to prepend LC_ALL="C" to the command 'dpkg-
reconfigure kdesudo'
In fact, the kdesudo.postinst dpkg script greps for the "by kdesu" string which
is output by dpkg-divert *only* in english locales.
To reproduce the issue on a debian(wheezy)/kde(4.8.4) system (you must also
have kdesudo installed of course):
1) install a non english locale by running 'dpkg-reconfigure locales',
selecting for example 'it_IT.UTF8', and set it as default locale
2) logout and login
3) execute 'dpkg-reconfigure kdesudo' in konsole and *change* your selection to
'No' (you may have to select the other way before so that it changes)
4) No any dpkg-divert message is output, while in english locale you would get:
Removing 'diversion of /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kdesu to
/usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kdesu.kde by kdesudo'
Removing 'diversion of /usr/share/man/man1/kdesu.1.gz to
/usr/share/man/man1/kdesu.kde.1.gz by kdesudo'
No effect, either, so you're stuck to kdesudo mode.

Best regards

Package: kdesudo
Version: 3.4.2.4-2
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

gksudo, kdesudo and lxqt-sudo currently provide similar services, and having
one of them installed on a system should be sufficient IMHO. However, as it
stands, packages are recommending, or even depending on, a specific one
of these frontends.

Please consider creating a virtual package (e.g. sudo-graphical-frontend),
and a desktop-independent executable (e.g. using alternatives) so that packages
that require generic graphical sudo services can depend on and use those.

Maybe that some applications do require a specific frontend, but I'm sure there
is a significant number of packages that works fine with whatever sudo frontend
happens to be installed.

I am submitting this same bug for gksu, kdesudo and lxqt-sudo.

Kind regards,

Rogier.

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#875107: Removed package(s) from unstable

2017-09-10 Thread Debian FTP Masters
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

   kdesudo | 3.4.2.4-2 | source, hurd-i386
   kdesudo | 3.4.2.4-2+b1 | amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, kfreebsd-amd64,

ROM; Deprecated upstream and superseded by kdesu

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors until the next
dinstall run at the earliest.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.

We try to close bugs which have been reported against this package
automatically. But please check all old bugs, if they were closed
correctly or should have been re-assigned to another package.

Hi! As you might know we the Qt/KDE team are preparing to remove Qt4
as [announced] in:

[announced]

Currently Qt4 has been dead upstream and we are starting to have problems
maintaining it, like for example in the [OpenSSL 1.1 support] case.

[OpenSSL 1.1 support]

In order to make this move, all packages directly or indirectly depending on
the Qt4 libraries have to either get ported to Qt5 or eventually get
removed from the Debian repositories.

We also understand that there is still a lot of software still using Qt4.

Don't forget to take a look at the C++ API changes page [apichanges] whenever
you start porting your application.

[migration] http://pkg-kde.alioth.debian.org/packagingqtbasedstuff.html
[apichanges] http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/sourcebreaks.html

For any questions and issues, do not hesitate to contact the Debian Qt/KDE
team at debian-qt-...@lists.debian.org

The removal is being tracked in

Lisandro,
on behalf of the Qt4 maintainers
