Rev. 135 of DEP5 which you use is open about comment field naming.

Newer revisions define Comment for this, so I suggest using that -
even with older revisions of the spec.

Philipp,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Debian better.

I've seen your message in the CMus development mailing list, so I was
wondering if you already have a patch for the current version in
unstable. If so, I'll apply it with a new upload to Debian
experimental.

Cheers.

gmerlin new upstream!

2011-01-10 Thread IOhannes m zmoelnig

Hash: SHA1

hi all,

burkhard plaum has finally released a new version of
gmerlin/gavl/gmerlin-avdecoder.

i see that alessio already started with updating gavl.

i tried to do the same with gmerlin and gmerling-avdecoder, and pushed
my changes (so far, far from finished) to the repository.

however, it seems like i did something wrong, as the code with the
problematic license (lib/GSM610, lib/libw32dll) is still there.
i guess i still don't fully understand how to use git-import-orig and
pristine-tar.

this is what i did:
$ git-import-orig --filter GSM610 --filter libw32dll --filter os.c
- --filter os_inet_aton.c /tmp/gmerlin-avdecoder-1.1.0.tar.gz

$ git archive --prefix=gmerlin-avdecoder_1.1.0.orig/ upstream/1.1.0 | $
gzip -9 gmerlin-avdecoder_1.1.0.orig.tar.gz

it's _not_ done automagically (no ac checks for libgsm, path to gsm.h

Instead of filtering during import, do it earlier on using CDBS:

  debian/rules get-orig-source

That should get you both the pristine tarball and next to that the
repackaged one.

i think we can assume that we do have posix-semaphores, so we can get

after a quick inspection, it turns out that the file is used by 3

the bad news is, that bg_sem.h is installed into /usr/include/gmerlin,
so we sould indeed have to provide a replacement, to keep source-code
compatible

after a quick inspection, it turns out that the file is used by 3
C-files, so that's easy to handle.

the bad news is, that bg_sem.h is installed into /usr/include/gmerlin,
so we sould indeed have to provide a replacement, to keep source-code
compatible

Sounds sensible.

So...:

 1) strip ill-licensed file from source
 2) add your one-liner replacement file via a patch

Clearly, mma couldn't have been packaged without
a changelog. Do you know where to find it?

I would hope there is another location for these files
than the package itself. Mma's package control.tar.gz only contains

mmadebian

For example, a different package I maintain has these
files in the debian/ directory.

changelog

So my question is where can I find the
original files used to create this debian package?

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you are confusing upstream and Debian parts: Even if
upstream do ship a debian/ subdir, we should care for that ourselves,
and will ship our debian/ part as a separate file when redistributing
sources for our packaging - either as a diff or (with new dkpg-source
format 3.0 (quilt)) as a tarball.

As for your underlying question - how to start working on this package,
based on existing official packaging efforts, here's a smart oneliner I
just discovered to day, which generates a new Git repository from all
officially archived prior releases of a package (i.e. relevant when the
package was not previously maintained in a VCS):

  git-import-dscs --debsnap --pristine-tar --sign-tags mma

Hope that helps,

Comments regarding xcfa_4.0.2-1_amd64.changes

2011-01-10 Thread Mike O'Connor
Hi maintainer,

In reviewing the xcfa package in NEW, I've got a few quesitons.

Does this software do anything much different than the numerous other pieces of
software we already have in debian which are able to rip audio CDs into other
audio formats?

I'm a little confused about parts of the description.

XCFA is a tool to extract the contens of Audio-CDs and convert musical
audio files conversion to FLAC, WAV, OGG, M4A, MPC, WavPack and many
 other formats.

What does musical audio files conversion mean?

what does Handling of files shared volume before a recording mean?

When you say Small cover creation for Audio-CDs. Does small mean that you
create cover-art with few pixels? or what does small mean here?

I don't know if these errors stem from mis-translations, and perhaps you could
get help from someone with translation or if
http://lists.debian.org/debian-l10n-english/ could help

bye,

apt-get source libffado2

for other versions ( etc ), look to the debian archives. this package
looks to be in SVN, so use apt-get source to get the upstream SVN link
and work from there for tags.
