[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Plugin request -- Sleep

2006-08-11 Thread Paul Webster

Having had a peaceful night - I can confirm that it worked for me.
However, I know that this does not address the full requirement of the
original poster. However, it is much closer to what I wanted to
achieve.
A change to PowerSave to make a Sleep option that would be essentially
be the same as PowerSave/Always, except would only run once would make
it easier to use in this guise.
i.e. using PowerSave as a once-off Sleep request would require the user
to go back into the PlugIn menu the next time that the Squeezebox was
used and turn it off again otherwise the Squeezebox would get turned
off in regular use.

I'm away for a few days - but would happily look at doing this one
return and would pass it back to you (jth) for review/inclusion.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Visualisation - How?

2006-08-11 Thread russell_i_brown

Well I've made some progress.

Softsqueeze outputs through ALSA and arecord(1) can use
its dsnoop thingy to copy the output sound. So doing

SoftSqueeze
arecord -t cd -f raw -Dplug:dsnoop | goom2

sends audio stuff to goom2.

Now I just have to work out what format stuff goom2 really
likes :)

[SlimDevices: Plugins] DVB-T Card Control (Non Alien BBC)

2006-08-11 Thread ian_heys

I live in UK and have a DVB-T card in my slimserver PC.

I have been trying to remote control the card from the Squeezebox
remote for some time.

With the help of bpa and My Picks I have now got to the stage where I
can now assign a single favourite key to a DVB-T radio channel and the
DVB-T card changes channel and the SB displays the channel name and
plays the appropriate channel on the SB at relatively high quality
(Better than DAB/Not as good as top notch FM).

I thought I'd share this here and see if anyone can take it a stage
further by developing a dedicated plug-in which is beyond my
capabilities.

My foreshortened menu is

1 BBC World Service
2 BBC Radio 2
3 BBC Radio 3
4 BBC Radio 4
5 BBC Radio 5 Live
6 BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra
7 BBC 7

Of course this can be edited from any of the available DVB-T radio
channels or even TV channel sound.

The card is a Hauppauge Nova-T (90002 Variant) using My Theatre
software and the AVBroadcaster plug-in to provide a web-server for
changing the channel. (I believe My Theatre works on other DVB-T cards
but I haven't checked any of them). The AVB broadcaster also streams TV
but unfortunately does not stream radio only channels and is used here
purely for it's channel changing function.

My Theatre allows the construction of personalised graphs and a radio
only graph can be created in which the TV/Video filters are not called
up and the audio stream can be passed in the digital domain to an
external program like Virtual Audio Cable.

This stream is then fed to a shoutcast server through Winamp or a
slightly better GUI/better encoding options is available in the
Simplecast software.

Playlists are created for EACH radio channel with a simple two line
formula

Line 1 webserver channel change
Line 2 Shoutcast server output.

Now a My Picks menu is created with a reference to each play list
(Thanks bpa for sorting this out for me). Slimserver can't play the 1st
line but sends the code to the web-server and changes the DVB-T Channel
- it then moves on to the second line of the playlist and ensures that
it listens to the output of the shoutcast server and displays the
correct channel name.

I have seen this as a Nice to Have on the wiki.

Is there any interest?
Does anyone want to take it further?

Some suggestions for a single integrated plug-in:

1. Elimination of Shoutcast server and feeding of Virtual Audio Cable
directly into slimserver and conversion from output stream to FLAC. (I
think andyg has suggested this elsewhere).

2. Integration of My Picks like menu editing plug-in allowing two line
options per menu item.

have checked the use iTunes checkbox. Should I turn that off?

Might be interesting to know, yes.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Choppy and broken live feed on AlienBBC

2006-08-11 Thread Rajesh

I am having problems with live BBC feeds which are choppy and broken and
usually stop after a few minutes.

I am reasoanbly sure that the wireless LAN / broadband connection etc.
is ok as I can get Radio 5 Live through the SqueezeNetwork and it works
fine.

I'm using SlimServer version 6.2.2-7135
The Server is running Windows XP Media Centre
AlienBBC version 1.04_6.2-3
Playing it through a Squeezebox v3

I would appreciate any help that anyone can give.

Your radio 5live test is not valid as it is in WMA whereas AlienBBC
access uses Mplayer and RealAudio.

Does the standalone mplayer test work OK or do you get choppy audio
with it ?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Announce: Plugins for rating and smart playlists using SQL

2006-08-11 Thread LoZ

Okay, sorry to be a pain but I've got to go back to what snarlydwarf was
saying originally. When I recreated the synch between the two devices,
initially both worked fine for rating. Now the slave doesn't want to do
it anymore.

All very odd, but I can live with it! Have you got a donation link so I
can help you along the way to buying another SB for testing purposes

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC RTSP Convert error

2006-08-11 Thread ashimmin

I'm running SlimServer 6.3.1 - 8468 - Windows 2000 - EN - cp1252 against
a Slimp3 firmware version 2.2. I've been using earlier versions of
AlienBBC in this environment without any problems up to and including
server version 6.2.

However, with the latest install of the slim server and running the
AlienBBC v1.05 installed with the Install pack for SlimServer 6.2.x and
6.3 I am now unable to play any BBC content on the slimp3. I get the
error 'RTSP Convert error - check file types'

Interestingly I do not get this error when I play on a remote laptop
using SoftSqueeze so I'm not sure this is a server side problem.

Can someone suggest what the issue is and what I should check.

Thanks

Alice

Do you have lame.exe installed in the Bin directory?

If you enable d_source debugging it will show on the log what is
causing the problem, but I suspect the above.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Announce: InguzEQ / InguzDSP room correction

2006-08-11 Thread CarlOtto

Thank you Inguz, good work there. If it works, it is surely better than
buying a TACT. I have some different problems though - have you (or
anyone) got a clue?

SoftSqueeze

When I use the setup with SoftSqueeze (2.8) I get something like pink
noise and can only very faintly hear the original sound in the
background.

I had to dig out my retired Squeezebox 3 and then I got the sound (but
not sounding very nice - see below).

Could there be a setting somewhere within SoftSqueeze, do I need to get
a later SoftSqueeze, SqueezeSlave or whatever - or will it simply not
work with anything but a hardware Squeezebox?

Tunnel-sound

After installing the plugin with the newly created filters the sound
could best be described as closed in or coming out of a tunnel. A
bit boomy bass, lost a lot of the high frequencies etc.

I tried different filters; Normal, Soft, NoCorrection etc with no major
difference to the tunnel-sound. Only None took it back to normal
sound.

The measurement was done with a Behringer ECM8000 and it went
reasonably smooth, no obvious problems. I had to turn down the preamp
line level a bit to prevent clipping, so the live channel would no
longer be on -6dB while I left the reference channel at -6dB
(instructions didn't mention whether to change that as well or not). I
noticed that the recorded wavefile looked very modulated and far from
flat like the reference - I have no clue if this is normal. I tried
saving recorded wave-files with and without the clicks at start and
end (again: instruction not clear on this point).

I tried bk-3-spline.txt as well as flat.txt for the target response,
but no difference to the tunnel-sound. I do have a subwoofer (an old
REL, of the type connected to the power amp output) so maybe I should
have chosen something else here?

I tried looking in the DRC manual.and gave up.

What could I have missed?

Equipment

I normally don't use a Squeezebox. I have a professional sound card and
I use SoftSqueeze for playing. The reason for this is to get master
clock control and balanced outputs, none of which SB3 can handle (yes I
know the new Transporter can do this, but I don't need the DAC there so
it seems silly to pay for that).

The souncard feeds an upsampler (dCS Purcell) which in turn feeds an
external DAC (dCS Delius).

I had to plug in my SqueezeBox to get past the pink noise problem and
then I took the digital out from that and fed into the upsampler so I
did not use the analog out from SB3 at all.

Yes, I managed to get their on my own after seeing the error when trying
to select the RTSP/lame type in the server settings. I put lame.exe
into

SlimServer\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread

and now all seems well.

Thanks for the speedy reply.

I tried to setup the SoftSqueeze player synchronized with my SqueezeBox
and the events TrackStat gets from slimserver is not what it expects. So
if you are using the slave remote to control the music or do rating it's
just luck that it's working at all.

Would it be acceptable to have a setting in TrackStat where the user
could specify if all or none of the players are synchronized ?

The disadvantage of this solution would be if you have 3 SqueezeBox'es
and 2 of them are configured as synchronized players and 1 is not part
of the synchronization group.
