Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: MuiscIP + SlimServer != 'Browse folders'
Well, I'm stumped. I've read this thread 3 times, the WIKI post on how to integrate MIP (latest version download...V 1.7.1) with SS (I'm using version 6.51), and read the page hosted by MIP. Nothing works as advertised. Any input appreciated. Have you tried running MIP from the command line? - stop SlimServer - start MusicMagicServer.exe from the MIP folder - restart SlimServer - verify the MIP plugin settings I make sure that in the Services tab of Preferences in MIP that API is checked and the service is started. This often didn't work for me. I make sure that in the Services tab of Preferences in MIP that API is checked and the service is started. I start SS. In the general server settings, I do NOT see the Use MusicMagic option at the bottom of the screen. I then try all sorts of permutations of starting, stopping, rescanning, clicking, praying...you know, all of the supertitious things we do when the logical stuff does not work. One clue, if indeed it is a clue: I do NOT have SlimServer listed in the Send To tab of Preferences in MIP. I see this in the screen shot of a previous poster on this thread. Should it be there? It is quite hard to determine, as the support Forums are all referencing old versions of MIP (or is it MMM...I'm lost in acronyms). Can anyone help. Seems like SS doesn't know MIP is there, or MIP isn't addressing SS, or something. I've left the port at the default on both the SS and MIP sides. Can anyone help? I have found the following; * Make sure MusicIP validates ALL songs before being connecting it to SS * Once MusicIP is ready, start SS (and allow SS to start properly... might take some time... I went away 30 minutes) * SS 6.5.1 is the nighly build, and they differ quite much... I tested several and found that that the 2006-10-20 worked for me... the previous ones did NOT work especially good (read crashes and similar). Was your experience the same...the length of time for MIP validation (what ever that is...not exactly well explained in the help file) - was it incredibly slow? Yes, it is. It took me almost a week for 7000 songs... The time taken heavily depends on your hardware: the faster the CPU, the quicker you get it done.
