alternatives:

1. A "Random Song" menu that works exactly as the current "Random
Album" menu that just chooses 20 random tracks. If would be possible to
view the tracks before playing in the same way as the current "Random
Album" menu. If you choose to play all these they will be played but it
will not be a dynamic playlist that continuously selects completely new
random tracks.

2. A "Random Song" menu that actually is just a link to the RandomMix
"Random Song Mix" menu. This would result in a dynamic playlist using
RandomMix plugin. This solution would not make it possible to right
click and view the tracks before playing since this is not supported in
the RandomMix plugin.

3. Add specific playlists from DynamicPlayLists plugin to the top menu.
This would make it possible to put a link to any dynamic playlist to the
top browse menu, for example the "Random songs" menu from the
RandomPlayList plugin. This solution would not make it possible to
right click and view the tracks before playing since this is not
supported in the DynamicPlayList plugin.

BPA

I am tending to agree with you that it was interference. I have
adjusted the settings up andf down and cannot reproduce the efdfect any
more. Yet Saturday I could not get an alienBBC station to play for more
than a minute or two. I wish I knew what could cause such an
interteference.

Anyway thanks for your help and I will repeat my earlier comments that
the new installation pack of AlienBBC is a great improvement.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Warnings from IRBlaster

2006-10-24 Thread max . spicer

Firstly, thanks to all involved in the IRBlaster plugin! I downloaded
it the other night and plugged a cable between the IR out on my
transporter to the IR in on my amp. After a maximum of ten minutes,
I'd got SlimServer to learn a few of my amp's commands and programmed
the plugin to do what I wanted. Now, when I turn the transporter on,
my amp turns on and selects Aux. When I turn it off, the amp turns
off. When I adjust the volume on my transporter the volume knob on my
amp turns up and down. This is fantastic stuff! Many thanks!

A few weird bits however: ;-)

- If I use the volume knob on the transporter, the volume on my amp
goes the opposite way - turning the volume down makes the volume go up.
Only with the knob - using the remote or web interface works fine.
- 22:16:52.6552 Use of uninitialized value in string eq at
/usr/local/slimserver/Plugins/IRBlaster/Plugin.pm line 1364.

Finally, would it not be possible to get SlimServer to completely
ignore volume commands, other than to relay them on? I realise this
would be server code, but might it be acceptable to add a hook that
plugins could call to say "we'll sort out volume changes, thank you
very much, just tell us when they occur"?

Thanks,

Max

The "Custom Browse" main menu can be added to the top level menu, and
in the latest version it can be renamed to something else than "Custom
Browse".
The sub menus below "Custom Browse" will be visible below the "Custom
Browse" menu and optionally also below the standard slimserver "Browse"
menu.

OK. That makes sense. I believe I was playing from the
DynamicPlaylist plugin when I clicked the 'mm' icon to generate the
playlist. Then, trying to add the entire MusicMagic playlist would
have caused the slimdevice to turn off the DynamicPlaylist plugin
before setting the new playlist.

For the record, this is now working great and I'm already loving it!
It feels very similar to the 'IMMS plugin'
(http://www.luminal.org/wiki/index.php/IMMS/IMMS) I've used for a
couple of years now with XMMS.

Thanks for your help!

been updated for 6.5 yet so thats why it doesn't work.

As I understand it slimserver can't play tracks that isn't in the
database, so if thats the case for you you will have to do something
like this in the getNextDynamicPlayListTracks:
1. Get the full filename to the track you would like to play, this
probably includes scanning the directory you are interesting in for
files. Have a look at slimserver code in Slim/Utils/Scanner.pm
(findFilesMatching) or maybe Slim/Utils/Misc.pm (readDirectory)
2. Use Slim::Utils::Misc::fileURLFromPath to convert the file path to
an URL
3. Use Slim::Schema->updateOrCreate to check if the file exists in
slimserver and add them if they don't exist
4. Return the tracks

If you know that the files are in the slimserver database, you can
search the database directly instead of the steps above using the
Slim::Schema->resultset('Track')->search method.

All you have to do is hit the up or down arrows on your remote.
Hitting them lets you view various bits of information (like Tonight's
weather). Eventually you'll get to one that just shows the 8:24 - 24 C
you're looking for.

In file Slim/Formats//Playlist.pm - the 3rd line in this routine is the
fix - reference to wrong tagClasses variable. Below is correct code.

Code:

  sub registerParser {
my ($class, $type, $playlistClass) = @_;

$::d_parse && msg("registerParser: Registering external parser for type
$type - class: $playlistClass\n");

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC not ignoring r2online_id.rm

2006-10-24 Thread wprice99

I've recently upgraded to SlimServer 6.5.0 and AlienBBC 1.06, which
works very well for the most part.

However, AlienBBC no longer ignores the r2online_id.rm file, as it did
with SlimServer 6.2 and a previous version of AlienBBC.

Running SlimServer with --d_plugin gives the following:

It appears that the plugin is not parsing the fmg2.rpm content

OK, changing the size to 1 or 2 gives output, but large (3) gives no

I have upgraded to the latest beta version.

This gives me output no matter what the size...but now it seems to be
ignoring my string on the large size font, which is set to:

%1 - %T

...for all 4 of the weather strings.

Instead of getting 8:24 - 24 C as I do for size 1 and 2, as I'd expect,
I get

Tonight: Mostly Cloudy

So close

Yeah, if you turn on logging via the library's file menu, then do a scan and
email me the resulting logfile off-list I'll have a look.. Not sure how much
logging I've put in the scanning code, but it may show something..

Are there any strange file-formats in your music collection, or is there
anything strange about it ?

Thanks. I'll try to read the readme.txt file again, and see if I can
set permission. I guess your program is ok, so it's just my rights I
have to configurate :-)

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Complete Idiot's Guide To DynamicPlaylist And Plugins

2006-10-24 Thread ceejay

Can't help on the DynamicPlaylist, but the CLI is documented in the
slimserver web interface - go to Home / Help / Technical Information /
Command Line Interface

Plugins are refreshed EITHER on server startup OR on entering the
server settings / plugins page, depending on what you have set on that
page (At Startup or On The Fly). It has been said recently that only
very well behaved plugins are likely to work well in the On The Fly
mode, however, so At Startup is safer.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: MuiscIP + SlimServer != 'Browse folders'

2006-10-24 Thread Dougal

Hi,
When MusicIP has finished analysing your huge music collections please
don’t forget to back up the relevant files or create a disk image.
I speak from experience, A while back I installed a dual core processor
and did a fresh install (WinXP) but I forgot to back up MusicIP and had
to do this over again.

I think the relevant files are: - "default.m3lib" and "(user).m3usr"
Doug.

Seems you have to set permissions on the slimserver folder. You should
post to that thread (or at least the 3rd party hardware list) for
questions regarding SSODS.

What NAS? How did you install? Where did you install?

I have bought a DS-106. I have followed the guide made by flipflip. (
http://oinkzwurgl.org/ssods ). It worked vwery well, but I have no
folder called plugin.

There is, I'm sure. But probably not in the place you're looking for.
Where's slimserver installed?

I guess it's installed in the root. I'm not a linux-expert, so I'm
actually not quite sure.

I followed the guide, so mabye you can tell me?

There's no plugin-folder as there were on the Slimserver on my pc. Or
