 7. Just for giggles I went to router and portfoward 9090 to the sever

OK, crashing after 6s with a 7.3.3 server sounds bad, never had that.
A few things to check:
On Penguinlovesmusic.com only these issues refer to the App, the rest
is about the plugin and apply to you:
http://penguinlovesmusic.de/ipeng-application/how-to-use-the-ipeng-application/known-issues/
So your #2 doesn't apply here.
also, #6 should have no effect as should #7 (iPeng doesn't use port
9090).

Apart from that:
1. Could you check whether all your players really have names. That
bug's supposed to fix but I can't test this very well since a player not
having a name is not a legal state in SC and thus I can't reproduce it.
You can change a player name in the SqueezeCenter settings under
Players
2. Are you sure there is no other machine on your network running
SqueezeCenter 7.4? If so, temporarily shut it down until you have
connected iPeng to your main server.
3. I don't believe the issue is that you can't connect to the server
since I don't believe iPeng crashes after 6s without a server. In any
case, you can add a server if you turn off wifi, start iPeng and then go
to Settings-iPeng Settings.

If all this doesn't help, could you grant me access to your server? You
would have to forward port 9000 (not 9090) on your router.

I can't get this to work @today's nightly (on a Mac).
I can see it under plugins (had to manually uninstall every old

get into the Settings.
I also see a TrackStat menu, and I can select which menus to show but

2009-07-10 Thread Craig, James
Hi all,
I am guessing that LastFM have turned off the legacy radio service that
SqueezeScrobbler uses.
To be honest I do not plan on fixing this as it would require a complete
rewrite of the plugin code.

However, if anyone knows differently and it's just a minor change that's
required let me know.
I had a look on the LastFM forums and I could not find any discussion on what
had happened.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Browse: Track by Artist From Album listings

2009-07-10 Thread IMGrant

Just getting my head around Custom Browse, I have customized my menus
and templates, but there is one more thing I can't figure out how to
change:

When you get to an album listing, it lists the tracks as 'Track' by
'Artist' from 'Album'. In the default SbS behaviour, the by artist and
from album are omitted if they are superfluous. e.g. When viewing album
A by artist B, the 'by B' and 'from A' are the same for every track and
so not needed. For a VA album, the 'from A' is omitted, but the 'by X'
is kept as it is different for every track.

Is there a way to implement this in Custom Browse?

AlienBBC is now installed using the Extension Downloader plugin . The
latest version is 2.5.

The BBC have recently enabled all national Live streams WMA format to
be available worldwide so there is no need for AlienBBC for live streams
(except if you are using a software player on Linx/OSX). Outside the UK
the WMA streams are slower.

So to play BBC on you Squeezebox goto Internet Radio / More Radio / BBC
- and then pick your station.

No you don't need to run a browser, instead your computer runs the
Squeezecenter server in the background. The XM Online Plugin (installed
in the server) emulates the browser going to the XM site and is
controlled remotely by the Duet Controller, Boom menu, etc. You just
need to configure your XM email and password into the plugin.

Hope this helps

[SlimDevices: Plugins] WaveInput on Linux - I'm stuck on setup

2009-07-10 Thread Dingostrategy

Dear friends,

I recently moved over to linux for my server. I'd like to still use
waveinput which I used on my previous PC setup.

I've installed and configured the plugin but it's not working at all.
I've followed the instructions at

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49584

But using wavin:default, there is a suspended 'connecting' on the
players - but using the GUI for SC, the timer ticks over.

Is there anything obvious in this information that would assist you to
help me set this up?

Many thanks in advance

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2009-07-10 Thread Aylwin

gharris999;437491 Wrote:
Anyway, with that out of the way, you could try this:

Create a script by performing these commands in a terminal window...

Thanks for the comprehensive reply! The test script was a very good
idea and it helped me sort things out. I'll try to recall what I've
done while I can still remember...

SqueezeCenter/SSOTS on the QNAP TS-509 can't seem to run terminal
commands directly. But it's able to run commands/scripts found here:
/share/MD0_DATA/SSODS/bin/

Under /share/MD0_DATA/SSODS/bin/ there are many command including
'sudo'. This sudo's sudoers file is located at
/share/MD0_DATA/SSODS/etc/.

So all I had to do was create a sudoers file and a script to shutdown
the TS-509:

1) Create sudoers file under /share/MD0_DATA/SSODS/etc/.
Tip: You can simply make a copy of the file sudoers-template already
there.

2) Add the following lines:

Code:

admin ALL=(ALL) ALL
  ssods ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /sbin/poweroff

Note: The TS-509 has no root user. So my root user is 'admin'. On
older/lower QNAP models, I believe the shutdown command is
'/sbin/kill'.

3) Create a script (I named mine shutdown.sh) under
/share/MD0_DATA/SSODS/bin/ and add the following:

Code:

#!/bin/sh
  sudo -u admin /sbin/poweroff

4) In the SvrPowerControl settings for Shutdown Command simply put:

Code:

shutdown.sh

That's it!

I don't think Suspend and Hibernate are applicable for the TS-509
and I have no need for Restart or Restart SqueezeCenter. But I
guess it would be easy to create an extra restart script to reboot the
machine, if needed.

One problem though with version 20090701.14. I'm not able to set Push
players to SqueezeNetwork on “external” shutdown. I will check the box
and then Apply but after refresh the box is unchecked again.

This is not a big problem since I'm now able to shutdown the TS-509
using SvrPowerControl. But it would anyway be nice to get this feature
working.

By the way, thanks for such an awesome plugin!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Browse Menu Order

2009-07-10 Thread IMGrant

Bit of an old thread but surprised there are no replies. I want to do
this too, but I don't think it's possible, the Custom Browse menus seem
to be ordered alphabetically when added to the home menu.
Furthermore, all the menus look to be alphabetically ordered by their
'id', so the Random Mix and Music Folder items actually have ids that
are 'BROWSE_RANDOM' or something, so a Custom Browse 'Composer' menu
would come after this, but before the Playlists item, as that id starts
with P.
So I have resorted to naming my Custom Browse menus with letters
between C and O so that they appear in the order I want before Playlists
(but after the Music Folder).

I had Alien BBC working fine and moved to 7.3.3. on an XP server. When
testing from the settings plugin page it work fine but will not stream
to a player when I use the IP:9000/stream.mp3 method. This includes
iTunes running on the same machine. It used to work fine streaming to
Tuner App on iPhone also but this has stopped as well. This is the log

also to hide the Music Folder item):

Code:

artists.src = /html/images/artists_25x25_f.png;

I would love to help you test the plugins, but I have a few questions I
hope you could answer. I quess I should first update Squeezecenter and
then install your beta plugin(s)? Is TrackStat statistics destroyed
after an Squeezecenter upgrade to 7.4? If it is; would it be possible to
import an pre-7.4 backup to the new 7.4 SC when CustomScan for 7.4 is
released?

Thank you for taking the time to update your plugins - I really
appreciate it!

supposed to survive but it didn't in my setup.

If you like to keep TrackStat statistics you should take a TrackStat
backup in 7.3.3 or in the MySQL version of 7.4 before you upgrade. Make
sure to store this TrackStat backup file in a safe place, because you
might need it again when the final version of TrackStat supporting 7.4
is released.

Ah well,

5 days and ZERO response to my ticket from wunderground!!!

Being in the UK, where it rains a lot, the precipitation% chance
(line3) is the real value adding part of the display. If the feed is
screwed with no chance of a fix (or explanation from wunderground) any
time soon, I for one will be abandoning weathertime. Not due to any
fault of the weathertime plugin itself or Martin - your plugin is the
ONLY plugin screensaver I've used since I bought my SB3 and slimserver
years ago!

What a pity, as this was a cracking plugin! - only let down by the
underlying data provider :-(

The only saving grace is that I never upgraded my wunderground
membership!

Basically it requires an extra menu level at the top of the structure,
if you are familiar with XML you should be able to to see how to by
selecting to customize a Artists by Letter menu and look at the XML.

2009-07-10 Thread erland

IMGrant;439460 Wrote:

Which interface are we talking about ? Controller ? Web interface ?
Squeezebox Classic display ?

If it's supported currently it's done through the Menu sort order
(1-100) parameters on each menu. I don't remember exactly what I did
regarding this, there might be things in the Custom Browse code that
could be changed to support it.

It looks like your SC is trying to transcode WMA to MP3 but it is not
setup.

Please give details of SC - what OS are you using ? If it is Linux or
OSX then perhaps AlienBBC is not properly installed as it will be
providing WMA decode.

In WebUI Settings/Advanced/Filetype is WMA - MP3 enabled or greyed out
?

The only saving grace is that I never upgraded my wunderground
 membership!

Thanks for praising Weathertime ;-) But to fair to the Wunderground
people: When we switched over from Weather.com to them it took them just
a few days to add the precipitation info in the first place (it was not
even present in the feed before).

I don't remember who managed to make them do that so quickly. But I
haven't given up hope that the problem will be fixed some time soon.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC

2009-07-10 Thread mitip

Yes correct all boxes to transcode to mp3 are greyed out, wonder why?
I am running 7.3.4 on an XP PC SP2. According to extension downloader I
have Alien BBC but an earlier reply suggested I no longer needed it as I
could use the Internet radio, More radio for BBC channels, do I still
need Alien BBC?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC

2009-07-10 Thread bpa

If you are trying to playing a WMA stream to stream.mp3 - yopu need
something to decode WMA and lame to encode it into MP3.

On Linux and OSX - AlienBBC will decode WMA, on XP there is a SC
supplied app to do the job.

I don't know the iPhone capabilities - is it not able to play WMA
streams directly ? If so then just let iPhone play the BBC URLs
directly and forget about SC.

No put lame.exe into the SC Bin directory which also has apps such as
wmadec.exe, faad.exe and alac.exe.

I am not sure which version of lame.exe SC is setup to use - lame.exe
use of -x changed between versions. The wrong version will result in
static audio. Start with 3.96.1 and then try 3.98.

pippin;439383 Wrote:

You can change a player name in the SqueezeCenter settings under
 Player-Player Name

Ge this is so much FUN!! My player had a name so I renamed it to
myth player, thinking maybe that will fix it. NOOO know the player
just flashes red, Not amount of resets or unplugs fixes it!!! UG

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC - 7.3.3 - cannot stream?

2009-07-10 Thread jimwillsher

Help! I have SC 7.3.3 installed on Ubuntu 9.04 server

Version: 7.3.3 - 27044 @ Mon Jun 15 15:12:32 PDT 2009
Hostname: redleg.x.co.uk
Server IP Address: 192.168.1.50
Server HTTP Port Number: 9000
Operating system: Debian - EN - utf8
Platform Architecture: x86_64-linux
Perl Version: 5.10.0 - x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi
MySQL Version: 5.0.75-0ubuntu10.2
Total Players Recognized: 3

Until last week I had 7.2 installed. Installation has always been via
apt-get.

AlienBBC has stopped working. I now get silence when connecting to
Radio Scotland, even though the GUI and LED display says it's playing.

I've increased the logging, and the only logging info I get is dozens
of lines of this:

Is anyone else experiencing problems?

I have mplayer installed (confirmed on the plugin page).

Many thanks,

Jim
