Many many thanks to those of you who have been working to put together a workaround but I feel it needs to be sorted by Logitech. I think you are a bit hard on Logitech. Mountain Lion introduced a new sleep policy (hard drive activity is ignored in resetting the sleep timer, only keyboard or mouse activity counts) that might not have made it into the final version of ML, so it wasn't really something to concentrate on. And ML has been out for less than a month. Also, it is primarily an Apple issue, as any program that runs for a long time without human interaction (large downloads, video conversion, etc) gets caught. If you look at the Mountain Lion section of Apple support community, the thread help with caffeinate, you will find, as soon as I have time to put it up, instructions on how to write your own script to keep a Mac awake. Someone else will need to write a simple program to put this in the menu bar, in the way that Caffeine did. I know a fair bit about this kind of problem, because of the reverse issue. My Mac running Snow Leopard refuses to go to sleep according to the Energy Saver settings. That got solved by using a third party sleep timer, but those were not reset by hard drive activity. So I had to use Jiggler or Caffeine to keep the Mac awake when I needed to (or Really Prevent Standby or Sever Power Control for Squeezebox use). danco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95980 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
[SlimDevices: Plugins] Buffalo LS-VL - how to upgrade to Media Server ?
Bought the LS-VL with the inbuilt SqueezeServer in order to finally be more eco and shutdown the old XP server etc. However now unable to use my Random playplug-in and my controllers have downgraded to version 7.5.1 (which is what runs on the LS_VL). There seems to be a firmware upgrade by Buffalo - but my LS-VL says 1.56 is up to date So how to upgrade ? If requires Linux skills - I would need a full how to as no real experience (but otherwise quite techy). [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC livetext availability?
Annoyingly, BBC have removed their livetext information on the BBC Iplayer feeds so Triode's plugin no longer supports livetext. BBC are running an experiment with RadioVis that Triode has got to work with a Touch or a SB Radio (won't work on the Boom though). It's actually quite good - if you happen to listen to Radio 1 or 1Xtra but as it happens I don't. I'm running a Vortexbox version of LMS btw. I've tried Tunein but all you get via the Tunein feed is a picture of the relevant DJ and the show - when it's working which it doesn't do reliably. Is there another plugin, app or feed that does still provide livetext? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
Excuse my double-post, but I asked some questions in the General thread before I saw this. [modified slightly] Hi - I just added the streamng service to iPeng. I've read your guide, and I have several questions before I start setting up my music server for remote access (which I would prefer over Audiogalaxy). I will be using a VPN. I have a Linksys router (which supports VPN) and know how to access it's settings. First - my regular music server is on an Windows XP machine which offers PTPP. The iPhone settings have that as an option as well. Will that work with iPeng? Second - by default my Linksys router is set to DHCP. If I'm using VPN, do I need to change that to Static IP in the internet setup section ? If I do so, I then see an address beginning with something other than 192.168 as my Internet IP Address Third - do I also need a static IP address for my VPN Server? Do I achieve that by turning off DHCP in my network address server settings on my router or can I set it for a particular machine. (Couldn't find a way to do that.) Do I need to be concerned with port forwarding? I'm guessing that using VPN moots a lot of this. Finally - Setting up VPN on the iPhone do I enter the external IP Address of the Router as the server? Logically, somehow the external device has to find my router on the internet I tried searching for VPN in this thread, but the search term may be too short. In any event I got no results. john greenwood's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41039 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
@dave epoch1970 Yes, but it looks like a hell of a complex feature. But nice, I agree... https://trac.penguinlovesmusic.de/trac/ipengnat/ :) @john Whatever VPN you use will work with iPeng as long as you get the VPN to work. What I use is the one my router supports which was the easiest thing to do for me. Usually, it will just continue to work in this case because the IP address of the server will stay valid in the VPN so iPeng can just reconnect. If, for some reason, iPeng _loses_ the connection you might have to manually configure the server's IP address (depends on your router) because some router-based VPNs don't support UDP broadcasts so the automatic server discovery won't work. You can do this in Settings-iPeng Settings. You don't need to switch to static IPs, but the 192.168 are the internal addresses and once your iPhone is connected over VPN it will appear to be in that address range, too, since all communication would be routed through your network. You don't need a static IP address for your network, VPNs on iOS work fine with dyndns addresses, routers that support VPN should also support dyndns. You then configure that DNS address in iOS and it asks for the credentials to connect. Once that's successful you will have an additional VPN switch in your iPhone's general settings, when you tap that it will ask for a passwordf and you're done. pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I assume I just need to drop the -q parameter? at the moment the best quality is using the pipe but still with a 30 second delay, as you expected moving the pipe to a ramdisk made no difference. atca's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56880 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49584 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
It seems to work - at least it shows up on my iPhone. Right now I'm using PPTP and forwarding ports 9000 and 3483. Is that correct? john greenwood's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41039 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

LMS thinks everything is OK so no message from it. To get debug message from ecasound you need to use -D to get output to stderr as well as -dd or -d:x. Since you are running LMS as a service, to redirect stderr you need to change the conf file to run shell script (e.g. ecasound.sh in a Bin directory of the waveinpu plugin). The shell script ecasound.sh would have a command something like ecasound $@ 2/tmp/ecasound.log The shell script may need to be more complicated depending on ecasound default use of stdin and stdout. I usually just run LMS from a shell prompt and get message from subprocesses (e.g.ecasound) in the same window but you need to have the various directories and ownerships setup properly to do this. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49584 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

If it's really using PPTP: yes, that's what you need. pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
