Yes, beta versions run on the device in parallel to the "official" one.

Writing the protocol alone is a task. It's more or less to write down a
list of everything you can do through the NowPlaying screen, the
MultiPlayer control (only top level), including hidden features plus
synchronisation and all volume control. I might have forgotten a few
things.

supose there is a large set of functions if one wanted to test in a
systematic way, supose it also goes with several rescans as some sort
settings gives you a different database :-/ ? I could possibly run more
versions as i have a desktop with 2 OS and one virtual machine on one of
them and my server , I do work 500-600h overtime each year and live more
in hotels than home so the time scale would be geological if I tests
things :-/

If you ever tackle this systematically i suggest you enlist 6 volunteers
(one for each version ) and have a test protocol .

But the iPad device itself ? i never seen how you run beta versions on
them , if you want some unsystematic beta testing done (which you say is
inefficient unless your beta group is very big ,but anyway ) and is it
possible to have a beta installed at the same time as the current
version ?

I _know_ how it works.
The problem is that I have to change all of iPeng's state model plus I
have to do full regression testing with (at least) SBC 7.3.3, SBS 7.4,
SBS 7.5.1, SBS 7.5.6, SBS 7.6.1 and LMS 7.7.2 because all of these
behave somewhat differently and _all_ the relevant player states are
part of this query.
If you agree to do that (test each player function at least a dozen time
with all these server versions and all different players that are
available for the respective server version), fine, then it's probably
only a week of work for me.

But from a testing and reliability standpoint this is the biggest single
change I can probably make to iPeng. The testing alone makes it a
complete no-go for me right now and beta testers are generally no help
here since they just use the App and don't do systematic testing, they
currently only find like 10% or so of the bugs discovered in iPeng.

The Logi App only supports server versions 7.5.4 and newer and only uses
a small subset of the state information iPeng uses.

On the web-UI you see "albumartist, artist ,artist" at the top but
artist & artist in the playlist depending on how you set title format.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Windows Media Center .WTV file plugin?

2012-11-11 Thread peted

Hi triode et al

I am looking for a plugin that will read .wtv files (as output by
Windows Media Center when it records TV, and stored on a Windows Home
Server share in the usual way) to allow Squeezebox to play the
audio-only from these files, a la the youtube plugin. A search on these
forums of wtv yields nothing - so I am not too hopeful... Has anyone
investigated this please?

The playlist does not show the albumartist for a track it shows a random
contributing artist from that track.

iPeng on startup defaults to the view where you left it. However, a lot
of views are not immediately available because they are server-provided
(e.g. all the "Apps" and plugin menus as well as e.g. "New Music"). If
that happens, iPeng defaults to the closest one of the already existing
menus, which is often facebook due to the sort order. If then the
original menu doesn't load fast enough, iPeng stays on the facebook
page, otherwise it will switch to the original one.

The library/browse menu definitions are stored in the directories which
are specified in the settings page for each plugin.
The general settings are stored in the plugin/custombrowse.prefs and
plugin/multilibrary.prefs files in the "Preference folder", you will
find the location of this in the LMS Settings/Information page.

Yeah, I need to sort the hosting out.

You can't assign a profile to a menu item as that would make the current
profile change as you scrolled through the menu. But you can assign a
profile to a menu and make that menu a sub-menu off the main menu,
eg, If you had a main menu with Lounge & Bedroom on it you could link
those to a Lounge menu and a Bedrrom menu which could change the current
profile accordingly. Alternatively, you could bypass the main menu and
set the Lounge and Bedroom Menus as the entry points for each porfile so
that you had a different main menu depending on the current profile.
It's your choice really.

There are reasons (which escape me at the moment but are probably
concerned with the very basic xml parser) as to why the playerActions
and action have to be kept separate but the idea of separating the
actions from the events is a good one.

Now that IS a consequence of the very, very basic xml parser that I use
as the controller does not have one built in. However, your numbering
does not have to be sequential, you could do 10, 20, 30 etc which would
make inserting extra codes easier.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] qobuz plugin - Duet and Transporter bufferring in FLAC

2012-11-11 Thread matka

Qobuz plugin works fine in FLAC when using Touch, but I had a bad case
of buffering in Transporter and Duet.

I have increased radio buffer size but this did not change anything.
Searching forums I have seen a post related to buffering mp3 radio
stations and the advice was to change player setting from MP3 "direct
streaming" to "proxied streaming". So I tried and... buffering stopped
on both Duet and Transporter.

Both my players are on wired network, stream info still says "FLAC".

I have already bought some CD here, and now I try the 10 € plan.
When you buy a track (True CD quality lossless) you can download it with

The way I understood those plans is not exclusive but progressive:
10 Euro - everything in 320 CBR
20 Euro Classical - classical in Flac, everything else 320 CBR
30 Euro - all in FLAC

This is how usually how flac downloads work, once you pay for FLAC you

The translation isn't perfect but I guess it is clear enough. Replace
