Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

It sounds like a problem with your network to me, I'm not aware that
anybody else has an issue like that. There have been issues with
reconnecting to players but that has been fixed a long time ago.

You said I acknowledged the bug: which ticket number is this?
You are still seeing this with the latest version?

I'm a longtime user of ipeng and ipeng for ipad on two different

Does sound like a network problem, but unfortunately, I'm no help in

Occasionally I have to disable / enable wifi as well to get on the
network again. But this happens only with my iPod Touch 2nd generation.
I believe it' an iOS 4.x issue and not an application issue. When it
happens, I have no more network access; meaning that Safari, e-mail,
iPeng and any other application that needs network isn't able to connect
until I reset the iPod's wifi.
I don't have this issue with my iPad 2 which is running that latest iOS
version.

If you set the font to be Large on the remote, the screen saver gets
obliterated. IMHO, the screen saver should use the fonts it needs and
ignore the user's selection. Weather Date Time does this.

Hello Folks,

I have 3 groups questions:

1) I have various 24bit 48Khz, 88.2Khz, 96Khz, 176.4khz, and 192Khz
audio files. When I stream them to the playback feature on iPeng, all
of them play and work so I am confused. Which sample rates does iPeng
playback losslessly? What does it do with the others? Say 192Khz
is not played back losslessly, is it downsampled on the LMS Server
(latest version) to what level, or somehow downsampled on the iPAD
itself?I cannot see where to look and verify this behavior.

2) Replay Gain: When I turn it on for the iPad 1 player, does Smart
Gain work, or Just Track Gain?

3) Headphones : Any recommendations on what the cheapie headphone
circuit can best drive (iPad 1) with the highest quality bass -- My
Sennheiser HD448s don't sound that great with the iPad -- I think they
are not a good match.

Thanks!

garym wrote:

My iOS 6 iPad3 sometimes completely loses the wifi network. Every other
device on the network is fine, it's the iPad. This most often happens if
I've been out with it and used it on 3G or other wifi networks. Sometims
turning the wifi off and on on the iPad fixes it, but at other times I
have to completely shutdown (press and hold top button until it asks to
slide to power off) and then switch back on the iPad. Ironically iOS 5
never did this to me, it appears to be an iOS 6 feature.

So to the person with the original problem, when it happens check if you
can access the App Store on your iOS device. If it says the App Store is
not accessible then it's a problem with the networking and there is
nothing iPeng can do about that.

1. iPeng supports up to 96kHz, 24 bit. Anything above that will have to
be resampled by the server.
iPeng itself doesn't touch the audio (unless you use equalizers) but iOS
only supports 48kHz with the exception of the iPad using the camera
connection kit (with iOS 7, also iPhone 5 shall support 96 kHz). What
this means is that except on iPad wit CCK and a USB DAC, iOS will
downsample to 48 kHz.

2. Both

3. No idea.

Try playing from the player and then check the helper app logs - do you
see any entries saying connected for the time when the player tries to
connect - if not then you need to look at the network/firewall to see
why.

Thanks Pippin for a great product and feature (Replaygain will be very
nice when just listening to my random tracks). Also, it is clear now
that anything I listen to will be downsample to 48Khz on the Ipad. I
wonder how IOS handles this downsampling --- just eliminating the bits
-- or some proper refiltering?

On (3) above, I am just curious...do you ever enjoy using this great
feature you created? If so --- what headphones do you use in your
portable devices with iPeng? Just trying to get some ideas.

Well, if I truly want good sound I use speakers

When on the move I prefer light luggage so it has to be in-ears for me
and I have a tendency to break two pairs of headphones a year so I have
pretty much given up on expensive ones.
The last ones I used was a pair of Sonys that was decent since they
broke I use Apple's EarPods. I don't like them but I have three pairs
lying around so I'm going to use them up

Also, when I really travel I want to have headphones with a microphone
so that I can use the. For phone calls, Bluetooth for some reason never
really seems to work for me.
