Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Music Artist Information plugin
Early versions of this plugin populated this folder with %artist%.jpg files, allowing the manual replacement of artist photos or addition of photos if the plugin couldn't find one on the web. Yesterday I saved and then deleted the folder with the intention of getting an updated series of photos when a new clear and rescan was run. To my surprise, no %artist%.jpg files were added during the Artist picture lookup phase of the rescan and it took an hour longer than when the folder was populated. (I have since restored it). Please check your preferences. This definitely should still work. Enable debugging for the plugin and check the log files. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Music Artist Information plugin
Yeah, recently installed 7.9, now rolled back to 7.8 and everything working again for me Oh, I see a potential problem: I removed aforementioned modules from 7.9, as they are part of a default perl installation. I don't know how SSOTS does handle updates, but maybe it left parts of it in place, or put its own binaries in the binary folder, colliding with the system's perl or something. Would you be willing (and able) to dig a little deeper doing some command line work on the NAS? This might help other SSOTS users having problems with the update. If that was the case, then please open a new thread on the topic (or refer me to an existing thread). Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: WaveInput for Linux
Hi there, I'd like to stream the analog Output of my Yamaha Receiver to my SqueezeBoxes. What I've read so far, this should be possible with Linux systems as discussed in this thread. My setup would be the following: I'd like to use the WaveInput on my 'ODROID Device' (http://www.hardkernel.com/main/products/prdt_info.php?g_code=G138745696275) with 'max2play image' (http://shop.max2play.com/en/image-max2play?___from_store=de) (based on Ubuntu). Now, my question is, what USB Sound Device should I choose. Has anyone here made experiences with an external USB device? There are a few I would consider: 'Creative Soundblaster E1, E2, Omni, X-Fi HD' (http://uk.creative.com/p/sound-blaster), 'Sweex' (http://www.sweex.com/nl/notebook-pc-accessoires/geluidskaarten/SC016/) or another one someone made good experiences with. Are there some performance considerations using the WaveInput on a Logitech Media Server? Are there some performance considerations using the WaveInput on a Logitech Media Server? Thank you for your feedback ... The Waveinput plugin was aimed at redirecting audio from Linux application through LMS to Squeezboxes. Using it to handle analog input is possible but you won't get many comments from user as that is not the main aim of the thread and so your post will not be read by many users. I suggest start a new thread (or a post on the Max2play thread if you are that setup specific) about 1. Whether any user have got the devices working on Odroid digitising analogue input (if so on which OS) 2. What is their opinion on the quality of the device digitising ability and the load on the host OS. Getting the devices to work with WaveInput is a secondary issue. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49584 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: WaveInput for Linux
Thanks for your fast reply. Stefan, who made the max2play image has tried WaveInput with a Logi-Link USB sound device and got it runnung. His instructions: - activate WaveInput plugin in LMS - create a favorite with the URL wavin:hw:1,0 and name it Waveinput - add user squeezeboxserver to the group audio (usermod -a -G audio squeezeboxserver) A first test showed a delay of about 2 seconds. Do you have any suggestions to optimize the latency? hpk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36144 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49584 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: WaveInput for Linux
I don't think you'll get below 0.5sec as there are will be network tdelays as well as various delays going between audio subsytems and pipes. By default the plugin will use the Radio Station Timeout setting to determine how much data is bufferred before playing starts. You can override this by adding your own routine to return a value by adding the Perl routine Code: sub bufferThreshold { 100 } to WAVIN.pm Start with 100 but too small and stream will stutter - IIRC 255 is the max value. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49584 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: WaveInput for Linux
thank you for your tips, I'll do some testing first. I think, 0.5s would be acceptable as all the Squeezeboxes are in different rooms and do not interfere with the 'original' sound in the living room. But 2s seems to be a bit high. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Music Artist Information plugin
I'm still a bit confused as to how artist pics hare handled, though. Had to read my code myself, to be sure. With artist.jpg symbolic links to my composer.jpgs, I'm now seeing both artist.jpg composer.jpg show up under Local Artwork. But the Good. artist.jpg isn't displayed on the Home-Artist page. Is there a way to get MAI to prefer display the local artwork rather than what last.fm offers up? (which is frequently completely wrong! E.g. last.fm offers up a picture of papa Bach for Bach, W F. Scandalous!) Yeah, last.fm definitly is a poor source for information about classical music. So here's how the code is supposed to work (I'll pick jpg, but the check looks for 'jpg', 'JPG', 'jpeg', 'png', 'gif'): - first check the defined artist picture folder for %artist%.jpg - then get a list of tracks for that artist, grouped by album. Check the track's folder for %artist%.jpg or the literal artist.jpg Thinking of your setup (/Artist/album.flac) I understand that the latter would do some redundant checks, as the folder for all tracks would be the same. But that's not the problem we're seeing... Is your file all lower case artist/composer or is any upper case involved? I'll add some more logging to the scanner code to help figure out what's wrong there. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
