Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Annouce: Squeeze Control, a squeezebox remote app, is now available for Android
Ok. Got it. I had a customized home-menu with Music Source turned off. Stupid me. However. I still have issues. 1. If I switch to a server (top menu) that has no players connected the Home-screen stays blank. There's no way to assign a player to that screen. 2. Now the app has server/player handling at four different positions/menus. It would be nice if player to server assignment and sync of players could be arranged from e.g. the bottom player menu. That bottom menu shows server and assigned players already. It would be nice if by e.g. a "drag" a player could just be moved to another server in that list. Players that are not connected to any server should show up in a third list as not connected. Sync of players could be arranged by marking certain players and e.g a long tap would sync them. This way the "Music Source " and "Managed Player" menus could be removed. Only two menus to handle servers/players would be left. Just a thought. Thx. soundcheck's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=34383 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96757 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Dear philippe_44, I fail to get Shairtunes running on my system (LMS 7.8.1 on Win 7 32 Bit, pearl 5.14.1 - MSWin32-x86-multi-thread). Installation seems to have been completed successully. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayerExtra v1.0
Thank you both very much for these techniques. I didn't try PaulinPosset's because I don't have playHLS installed, but BPA's was just what I needed. For any others using this, BPA's method worked for me when I substituted the "http:" at the start of the connection tag href urls with "dash:" in the tune in box. I also discovered I can play the 320k DASH stream with: dash://open.live.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/5/redir/version/2.0/mediaset/audio-syndication-dash/proto/http/vpid/b08k1srz I assume this is the "mtis url" that BPA referenced a few posts previously. An "iplayer:" url: iplayer://aod?dash=http://open.live.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/5/redir/version/2.0/mediaset/audio-syndication-dash/proto/http/vpid/b08k1srz seems to allow the system to pick up the title from somewhere too. This my 'quick and dirty' method. Only works for HLS and you may have to have BPA's PlayHLS plugin installed for it to work. 1) Ascertain the (v)pid of the desired programme from the web browser. 2) Modify the following text string with the new pid. "http://open.live.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/5/redir/version/2.0/vpid/b08n22tq/mediaset/audio-syndication/proto/http"; 3) Cut and paste the new url into the "Tune in URL" box 4) Press play and away you go. Nevertheless, I can't work out what the difference between a pid and a vpid is, although I've seen similar hash-looking things applied to brands, episodes, images, etc. The "Programme Ontology" seems to call them "POs". I agree with you that encouraging use of these APIs and then pulling the rug out again a few years later is pretty shoddy behaviour. I think it's a result of too many managers (all of whom have to come up with new imperatives to justify their position) and too little money to let people quietly doing a good job get on with it. I'm probably oversimplifying it (you've referred to new platforms making existing systems obsolete, for example). > To convert a vpid to a playable URL can vary over time, the source and > age (i.e. archive or recent) of the programs but for most normal > programs it is a case of wrapping the vpid into an mtis URL. If I look at the web page for a particular episode of a particular programme (say the "Gramophone" episode of 50 Things That Made the Modern Economy: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04x6xg6), what is the "p04x6xg6"? pid? vpid? The JSON version of this page has no other identifying information, which is why I assumed this must be used by iPlayer (Triode's, not the official apps) to construct the playable URL (but I haven't looked at iPlayer to investigate). Do iPlayer / Extras (when data's available!) get a fully-formed URL from somewhere based on more than just this hash? > There is - it is called Nitro but mere mortals cannot use it > https://developer.bbc.co.uk/nitro We spoke about Nitro further up this topic a month or so ago. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayerExtra v1.0
I see that there is a JSON feed of data from the "www.bbc.co.uk/programmes" stem (as pointed out in the maintenance message) but all the radio stations and TV channels are mixed together with no obvious way of filtering. Nor can I seem to get JSON data for the individual episodes there (although the error messages for [hash]/episodes/player.xml and [hash]/episodes/player.json are different, the latter being a 404 rather than the maintenance "not here any longer" message). I assume this is therefore of limited use. Out of interest, presumably it is straightforward to start a programme playing once the hash (seems to be called "pid" in the JSON) is known (presumably, in fact, the only way)? I'm wondering about the (admittedly manual and less user friendly) process of finding the programme of interest using the BBC website and then feeding the pid into Extras (or iPlayer) to start it playing. It's not very good, but at the moment there is no way at all, unless I've missed something, of playing anything that has not been on in the last week. as Spotify has announced to pull the plug on the underlying library later this year, too... So, the Squeezebox has come to an end of life. Squeezebox has been EOLed years ago. There's nothing new. What changes is that Spotify is pulling the plug on stuff the Squeezebox uses. Doesn't mean it renders the SB useless in general. Any plans to replace it with more supported player system? However very large amounts of third party content (especially sport and recorded audio) came with significant rights restrictions, and the BBC were very worried that unless they enforced visible safeguards to restrict straightforward redistribution then obtaining this content for broadcast would become either impossible or horrendously costly. Since then there have also been the large BBC budget clamps and need to monetise as much of their own content overseas as possible. get_iplayer etc. were and are a definite target but my take was that Squeezeplayer, although non-commercial, was regarded with benign support. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer V1.5.2 beta test
As to whack-a-mole, I think the BBC have decided they only want people using Apps or the BBC web site because they have tighter control of those. They probably regret ever officially supporting third party hardware internet radios, the feed for them (which this plugin uses) probably only still exists because the BBC don't think they can get away with annoying the manufacturers. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer V1.5.2 beta test
I like the idea of the plugin accumulating 7 day schedue information until it has 30 days worth. It's reasonably elegant, and it uses the official published feed for third parties so I don't see how the BBC can do something to break it. But anyway, I now also have the problem that since a couple of days, Spotify Search (and Top 100...) is no longer working with the Triode plugin. I hope this gets solved, It's not going to be resolved. Spotify is about to pull the plug on legacy libraries. because without Search there is no point in having Spotify on my Squeezebox. For the moment you should install the official Spotify App on mysb.com, configure it, and use the Spotify Protocol Handler plugin. That's basically just the playback part of Triode's, but without the menus. I say for the moment, as Spotify has announced to pull the plug on the underlying library later this year, too... JSON maps better to Perlo data structure whereas with XML you have to direct parser as to wther data should be an arry or a hash. BCC developed XML well before JSON and so parsers used XML and then migrated to JSON. Point is moot - BBC have changed so that data layout is now done infront end application and html is pushed to browser because there are now iOS and Android Apps to support and the architecture had to change. > For the ".inc" feed that remains, it looks like an HTML reader is what > would be needed now, unless the XML reader can be made to understand it. > The HTML that is sent does appear to be a well-formed (in the XML sense > and when it is enclosed in a single root element) fragment of HTML > rather than a complete web page. Without all the guff that web pages > normally come with, perhaps this would be less onerous to process and (I > hesitate to suggest) not really screen scraping in the usually > understood sense of the phrase. Extras started off parsing HTML pages using XMLin but it was simple formatting . It was painful then and it would be going back full circle only this time the formatting is much more convoluted and I just don't have the time. With html the data is not tagged with its meaning - it is just tagged as to where it is to be formatted. For example, at present with the ".inc" - to determine if a program is available in iPlayer - you need to find the program and then check (i.e. scan many different html tags looking for a specific sequence) if there is an overlay graphic (the pink thing) on the program icon OR if the text "episodes available" is in a specific location as opposed to the XML version which is parsed in one line, programs are hash keys each of which had a boolean which is called something like "episodesavailable". BBC keeps promising a new 3rd party API (checkout Nitro which is used by Android app) but haven't provided keys to public even though it was promised in 2015. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72709 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I don't care when The Early Music > Show was broadcast, I just know that's what I want to play so A-Z is > easier to find it. My only thought on the 30 day issues was for the plugin to save the BBC 7 day feed and merge with previous day so that after a while there is a accumulated feed which would provide the 30 days. I liked A-Z (and other feeds) it meant you could find programmes easily (search current BBC web site for "In our time" and you get any program with "our" "time" as well). Look at BBC web site now - I challenge you to find the A-Z menu there (it is still there but no longer front & centre) and it also seems to me BBC have either deliberately slowed it down or changed the database so that it is very very slow. At the moment I don't have the enthusiasm to develop these ideas (and I have researched other approaches in the background) further as I think BBC is playing "whack-a-mole" where 3rd parties are the mole - if I develop an answer - BBC will shut down that route. I think one motive is the BBC is trying to hamper the "downloaders" and we're just collateral damage bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106409 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
