I was under the impression the 1.5.* http 1.1 versions were still
regarded as under development and not finished. You've mentioned some
error handling issues a few times. I've been staying on 1.4.* because it
works fine for me on WHS v1, and I've been waiting for 1.5.* to be
declared mainstream rather than experimental. I may have got the wrong
end of the stick.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotify-connect-web

2017-04-30 Thread mherger

Ok, it's been a long time but I finally gave librespot a try. And
what shall I say? Its sample application does a whole lot of what we
would need for a simple Spotify Protocol Handler NG. I actually have a
POC implementation working where librespot would handle the streaming...

But integrating Spotify Connect with LMS comes with its own share of
complications. E.g. Imagine you're starting playback from Spotify's
application through Connect? Who's supposed to "own" playback control?
By default Spotify would, and the queue isn't visible to LMS. I can't
skip to the next track using any SB control.

In reality we might end up with two modes: LMS control, or Spotify
Connect mode. The level of integration depends on the community, too:
until a few days ago I had zero knowledge of Rust, the programming
language used for librespot. I'm sure a seasoned Rust developer could
add some hooks to e.g. transfer at least some metadata from Connect to
LMS etc.

Thoughts? Volunteers?

wasn't maintaining parallel versions when 1.5.* supports all platforms
whereas 1.4.* isn't good for Windows users (i.e. no Flac support in

Some users of 1.4.* said they didn't want autoupdates so I left it to

I know it's not the newest one. I assumed at some point you'd decide to
make the branch you've been recently developing mainstream and I'd get
an auto-update. You haven't already done this and I've somehow not
received the update have you?

What normally happens is the barker will be dropped when the service
goes online (usually about half an hour before the start of play in the
case of cricket) during which time you'll hear either silence or chit -
chat between the commentator and either BBC Salford or the relevant
local radio station (if the commentator does a live promo into whatever
programme is currently on-air at the time).

Quite often they will simply leave the effects mike open.

You have to remember these are not radio stations - they are commentary
circuits.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] WD MyBook Live NAS

2017-04-30 Thread Black Senator

Hello,

I can not recommend installing LMS *7.9.0 or later* to MBL (D).
Why?

I have been running a Squeezebox radio in our kitchen for years. At some
point, I installed LMS *7.7. ** on the NAS (MBLD 4 TB) by using the
recommendations given in this thread and it ran without complaints.
So far so good.

Sometimes later I added a Raspberry Pi with volumio and HifiBerry-DAC in
the living room for the connection to the stereo system.

At some point I noticed that newly added mp3/m4b did not appear in the
scan of the LMS and could not be brought into its DB.
After studying the change log, I decided to upgrade to 7.9.0. Despite
nearly ten installations/uninstallations with various slimings: moving
the cache, switching off all plugins, etc., only one time a more or less
complete scan of the music library (> 66 K songs) could be triggered.
Than the system crashed and brought me to do unsuccessful installations
again and again...

At that point I moved frustrated to my Raspberry Pi - installed the
version and everything runs immediately and without any restrictions.

Therefore, I must conclude that at least the newer versions of the LMS
are no longer suitable for an installation on MBL. It is much more
cost-effective to save the time spent on unsuccessful attempts to
acquire a Raspi.

DonĀ“t have too much fun!

1.4.10 is old, missing some check and uses http 1.0 which can makes for

The GridSkin I have on my device is HD - unfortunately the 7" display on

will be available as more people get the raspberry display.

Then your device doesn't run a recent jivelite. Ask m2p to update the

resolutions, in addition to the "HD Grid Skin".
