Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Squeezelite-X

2020-06-09 Thread rgdawson

The newest version of squeezelite-win.exe (1.9.7-1259) now has 32-bit
and 64-bit versions and other improvements, but does not support the
Windows Media format. This is not an issue if your LMS server is
configured to play WMA files (e.g. hosting LMS on Windows or using bps's
Play WMA plugin), at least as I understand it. ralphy (squeezelite-win
author) is telling me that version 1.9.6-1210 is all there will be going
forward for WMA support in squeezelite due to old code issues, since he
has upgraded his development system and libraries.

As for me, configuring my LMS server running on a Max2Play R-Pi using
bpa's plugin has been a failure. bpa's Play WMA plugin requires
mplayer-nogui to be installed on the R-Pi and I am unable to do that.
ralphy suggested I install ffmpeg on the pi and then use a custom .conf
file to let ffmpeg convert, but I have been unable to get that to work
either. So this appears hard in some cases. (My windows server works
just fine, btw.) Since SLX is supposed to be "easy" and, after all, is
a Windows Store app, playing WMA files should be easy.

So what to do? I could just stay on 1.9.6-1210 forever. Or, I could
integrate both 1.9.6-1210 and whatever the newest version is and let the
operator select.

30665

Not sure I like this approach all that much, though I do have it
working.

Anyone have any better ideas?

R Greg Dawson

You mean buffer in squeezelite right. Honestly Speaking I am not an
expert in this so could you please recommend a buffersize which could
work.

How did you configure squeezelite? You got a whole lot of parameters
listed in your previous posting... I think -b is the buffer parameter.
Check the squeezelite documentation if in doubt.

I would be transcoding if it worked with the LMS Qobuz plugin. That has
nothing to do with UPnPBridge, IMO.

Basically, Jriver doesn’t feel they should have to support a stream that

BANG !!
It works !
I'm so happy, Michael you're a king !

After succeeding in solving the issue related to Spotty, I could not
connect my radio to LMS.
But Michael found immediately the solution : add Philippe 44's LMS to
UPnP plugin to my LMS. And that's it. Now, my radio is recognized as a
fake Squeezebox, and I can access everything.
I have now to fine tune everything, but it worked almost at first shot,
with standard installation (for spotty as well as LMS to UPnP).

Conclusion : you can use standard internet capable radio with LMS.

I don't generally notice version numbers but for this one it was pure
coincidence that I did.
If a plugin isn't running correctly it's usually not possible to find
the version number in LMS/settings/Plugins but there is a way to is

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 4.0 - integrate local library with your Spotify collection (LMS 8+)

2020-06-09 Thread Michael Herger

1) I have to tick the Pre-Buffering Option - I am not sure how often
this occurs for other users but here: No chance without this option

That's because you use large buffers.

2) After about 3-4 songs the Playback stops. I then have to just jump to
the next song in the Spotify APP and it continues to play

Unfortunately Connect mode is not as stable as I wished it was. This
random stopping is something I've tried to address in too many ways
already. The Pre-Buffering option was one of them, but turned out to be
less stable overall. That's why it's disabled by default.

I'd suggest you reduce squeezelite's buffer size and disable the Spotty
pre-buffering. It might give you better results.

3) From time to time my Player is not available in Spotify App. I have
to close the app reopen it (sometimes 3-4 times and than it is available
again)

That sounds as if the spotty daemon died every now and then. And it
might also explain why playback stops. Can you monitor the processlist?
There's one spotty task per player with "--bitrate 96 --lms ...". That's
the connect daemon. If this changes pid, then it has been restarted.
Well, you could of course just enable info logging for plugin.spotty.
It'll tell you.

Hi Michael,

thanks for your continous development. I am on a LMS8 (Latest build from
yesterday) and use Spotty 4.01. It's on a Linux Debian 10 System with
Standard Kernel.

I am using Spotify Connect (via App) which works great however I have
some issues to report:

1) I have to tick the Pre-Buffering Option - I am not sure how often
this occurs for other users but here: No chance without this option
2) After about 3-4 songs the Playback stops. I then have to just jump to

3) From time to time my Player is not available in Spotify App. I have
to close the app reopen it (sometimes 3-4 times and than it is available
again)

I have a second Spotify connect device in my network which is in te same
IP Range. This works without any issues so I guess the infrastructure is
fine.

I use squeezelite from Ralphy: v1.9.7-1239 and start this with:

Code:

Hi Philippe

I know others are reporting this, and you're not sure why it's happening
at all! My Win10 PC starting throwing up this error about the same time,
yesterday, when I was responding to your suggestion of 'switching on' my
CastBridge. Naturally, I thought it was something *I'd* tweaked, but I
then noticed that NONE of my Bridges had been switched on in LMS and the
error only started when I clicked the option to turn the AirPlay Bridge
'on'. Anyway, I switched it OFF again and obviously, the error message
disappeared. I left it OFF for the rest of the day. When I got up this
morning and booted-up Windows about an hour ago (7am UK) I switched the
AirPlay Bridge back on in LMS and the error message no longer popped-up.
Just ot be sure, I rebooted my PC and the error message remained absent!
I can also confirm that all my AirPlay devices (through the Bridge) are
appearing in Squeezer and the LMS GUI. So, for me, at least, the problem
has disappeared.

I'm not skilled enough to work out what's different between yesterday
and today as far as LMS is concerned - maybe it's just one of those
'glitches'???

Thought this might be helpful. let's hope the others report the same.

Thanks again, for helping me identify my 'schoolboy' error in the Bridge
settings yesterday! 😉

Steve
