Sounds very likely.

I also observe that the availability schedules seem to be "patchy". One
moment I got a full listing of today's Radio 4 listings, half an hour
later some are missing. That might point to some issues in the
"replication across servers" department. But no point in second guessing
until settled down.

If you don't mind changing your habit a tiny little bit, you could add
("Append to queue") that news radio stream to your queue instead of
replacing it. Then you could just use the "back" button to get back to
the other stream. However, the position is not saved if you were
listening to a podcast.

On BBC Website schedule for today on various National station ( e.g.
Radio 4 https://www.bbc.co.uk/schedules/p00fzl7j/2020/06/26 ) - it shows
for most program from 1:00am onward - they are not available whereas
normally they are available shortly after program is broadcast.

Coupled with the fact some playlist parsing has broken - IIRC playlist
JSON is used by BBC website. It seems something in BBC has been changed
perhaps erroneously - so once either playlist.json is fixed or web site
is fixed and I know what is definitively the "new" process - there is
no point in patching as it will end up with confusion.

I'm guessing a bad update has happened and it will be rolled back.

You've had a combination of problems which never makes things easy.

I think SSL support is still involved. SSL has many components and so
there have been reports of odd problems when things get out of kilter.
One area that might be contributing is CA certificates - however I don't
know enough of OPenSSL on Linux yet alone Mac to offer advice on how to
check whether stored CA certs are OK..

Easier with an image, this is Radio 4 FM for Friday. Normally this list
would start at 00:00 with the Today Program.

30844

I agree that Thursday's programs are playable.

Ignore the fact things are unplayable - that could be a side effect by
the BBC.

By "today" do you mean the the Today program and all the program for
today - Friday. I cannot see any new program for today Fri 26 June.

With BBCiPlayer 1.6.9, for Friday on Radio 4 FM, I can see all the

Both ZIPs are hosted on the same system with practically the same URL
and they work OK for me so the issue is at your end. Plugin update is a
LMS issue but in your log there have been a number of network errors
affecting different part of LMS. So again all points to something to do
with SSL support.

I'm surprised no one has reported this, so it might be a regional
problem (South America).

iPlayer Extras seems to have completely stopped being updated, for Radio
4 FM the latest programs I can find are for yesterday (Thursday).
iPlayer is also affected, for Radio 3 and 6 there are no programs for
today. Radio 4 has some programs listed for today, but the links mostly
have the unplayable form of:

URL: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000k9rf/playlist.json

Only Desert Island Discs has a playable URL.

I'm using iPlayer 1.6.9 and Extras 3.4.0.

That means the browser is not getting a response back from LMS.
Is this after clicking "restart now" or just after you click Apply ?

Are you having general network issues - the earlier message indicate
some network issues on the system.

Somehting is out of date or messed up.
Upgrade to 1.6.9.
What repo are using to install BBCiPlayer plugin.

The Radio 2 & 6music xml feed you are trying to access is
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/availability/6music.xml
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/availability/radio2.xml
the correct ones are

Hi bpa. I just tried again with Radio 2, same. Not a favourite, and not
customised. Clean install a couple of days ago.

There's another couple of other errors which might be relevant...

No you can't update one file in the plugin - they work together. You
should be on 1.6.9 but if you are still on 1.6.7 I think Listen again
should still give a list of programs.

The error you are getting has changed.
Previously you got below - which means the XML URL e.g. 6music.xml has
been accessed, processed by BBCiPlayer plugin and a program found. Then
plugin finds the playlist.json JSON URL to look for the program. The
"bad file descriptor" & timeout is for a specific program low level
error .

Code:

  Slim::Formats::XML::gotErrorViaHTTP (339) Error: getting
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00082jh/playlist.json
Connect timed out: Bad file descriptor

Now error is

Code:

  Slim::Formats::XML::gotErrorViaHTTP (339) Error
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/availability/6music.xml

No "bad file descriptor" ?

This is a top level error accessing the XML feed. This happens before
LMS has determined to pass control to the BBCiPlayer plugin. Can you
give full log entry for this error.

Are you using a Favorite ? For testing you must use the BBC iPlayer
plugin menus
Have you customised the BBCiPlayer menus or menu.opml file ?

Hi bpa. Thanks again for your help. I tried that, still not working. The
BBCiplayer listen live OK. Do I need to update the BBCXMLParser.pm? I
presumed that was something that would be already improved in recent LMS
updates... Nigel

Just in case old data has been cached somewhere

1. Locate LMS Cache directory see WebUI Settings/Information - Cache
folder.
2. Stop LMS & Delete all file beginning with cache.db in Cache folder -
typically cache.db, cache.db-shm, cache.db-wal
3. Shutdown & Reboot MAC & LMS

Yeah, meanwhile it´s obvious to me, what you meant by that comment. :)
Perhaps it would help to give some examples (like adding the hint for
GGMM speakers to that sentence).

Actually, I had been struggling as well with a Kodi installation on an
Android TV-box, which runs an Airplay interface.
Changing to "Encryption = yes" did the trick also here, so that I can
now use it as an LMS player.

Thanks again,

Thanks both. Yes bpa, I had installed perl 5.30.1 on the mac os x 10.8.5
partition of the hard disc, but never got LMS to find it. I decided to
start from scratch on the mac os x 10.11.6 partition. I will update
IO::Socket::SSL stuff as per Michael's recommendation.
