Indeed,. I stopped 2.26.2 being downloaded yesterday while we got to the
bottom of those issues being reported. 2.26.6 is now available on the
main 3rd party repository with the issue resolved.

I'd be curious about that parameter

Code:

By changing the TCP/IP timeout value on the serveryou can reduce the delay
from the default two(2) hours to three (3) minutes. This should not be done on
the workstations. It should only be done on the server.

Open the Microsoft Windows Registry Editor ( START / RUN / Regedit )
  Browse to the
“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters” key
Locate the Value “KeepAliveTime”. If it does not exist, create a new
REG_DWORD Value called “KeepAliveTime”
Set the Value “KeepAliveTime” to decimal 18
  Exit the registry editor
Reboot your machine for the changes to take effect

Please be aware that the capitalization in KeepAliveTime is important!

Sure. The only firewall in use on the server is the built-in Windows
firewall. I'll do some testing with it tomorrow. Are there any specific
settings or ports you want open? If not, I'll just disable it altogether

Why do you want to tell the player where LMS is?

Because the LMS is running in a kubernetes-cluster and so the pCP can
find him.

Hi Philippe. Add me to the list for this problem. Easily recreatable.
Mp3 rip of Diana Krall "Live in Paris". Nearly every track is over 5
minutes long. It begins happening around the 3rd track and again on most
(but not all) tracks after that. I only noticed it since moving LMS from
a RPi to Windows 10 a few months ago. Doesn't happen on non-CastBridge
players. I can run a test with the same player (Google Nest Mini) and
music source using LMS on the RPi if it would be helpful for comparison.
I haven't migrated to the new plugin architecture yet. Running v1.82.2.
Let me know if I can be of any help.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AirPlay, Chromecast and UPnP bridges update

2022-12-07 Thread philippe_44

Spacegrass wrote:
> Hi Philippe - here is the further log. I will send you a link to the mp3
> files later today.

I thought the issue was something on my side but with further
investigation, I'm back to believing that this is a socket issue with
Windows & firewalls. Here is a reason why and I hope somebody will be
able to confirm that:

Streaming through the bridge is a long, multistage, pipeline. First, LMS
sends the encoded samples to the bridge that stores them in a "stream"
buffer of about 1MB. They are then decoded an put as raw pcm in an
"output buffer" of 4MB. Of course in "thru" mode, they are just moved
untouched from "stream" to "output". Then, they are re-coded (except in
thru mode where they are untouched again) and put/copied in a "http"
buffer of 2.5MB to finally be streamed to the upnp player (or
chromecast).

In normal LMS, as soon as a player has finished "decoding" samples
(putting the last decoded "stream" byte into the "output" buffer, then
it signals LMS that he is done with that track and LMS sends the next
one.

In the bridge the "end of decoding" happens then same way but you can
see that in thru mode, the first track might very (very) quickly be
absorbed: 1MB in the stream buffer, moved to 4MB in the outputbuffer,
moved to a http buffer and gobbled by the player that usually have big
buffers as well. When playing mp3 files of a few MB, it all happens in a
few seconds. So the next track is requested pretty quickly. Now, without
entering into too many details, the UPnP player is not ready to receive
the 2nd track, so as far as LMS is concerned, the 2nd track will see a
burst of LMS to bridge transfer and then everything will go stall
*until* the first track is fully *played* (not received) by the player.
Than means the connection between LMS and the bridge will be idle for
minutes and what the logs say is that such connections seem, on your
configuration, to be closed automatically by the system (and there is
another user of the CC bridge who has the same issue). I don't think
it's LMS, I've never seen such a timeout there, but I'll look again.

With larger tracks, it is less likely to happen because the player will
regularly call for data and activate the whole pipeline: get a bit from
"http" buffer, which pulls a bit from "output" buffer which pull a bit
from "stream" buffer, so there is always a bit of activity and when
first track has been fully received by the bridge, the second one will
start to be sent by LMS but it's likely not going to be such a big
"idle" period.

NB: This problem is very frequent with online streaming services and for
these there is a dirty mechanism to not request track N+1 more than 15s
before end of track N, but I don't want to extend that to local tracks.
a local TCP connection should *not* be closed after 3 minutes on a
well-configured system (usually 1 or 2 hours). If my hypothesis is
correct, these firewall are way too aggressive

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Help with MusicIP docker container

2022-12-07 Thread Blackhawk

It is kind of embarassing ... I need help with the container I developed
:rolleyes:: 'ptoulouse/musicip'

I have using it for years without issue. However I am building a new
server and I just noticed that it refuses to create the cache DB from
scratch, and I can't remember how MusicIP was behaving when I was using
it on bare Linux. To make my pain worst, MusicMagicServer is not giving
any log/output at all, so I have no idea what is not working.

Two plausible causes:
- The container setup is preventing MusicMagicServer from creating the
default.m3lib DB.
- MusicMagicServer never created the DB. The DB is created by the
scanning process. As stated earlier, I don't remember how it was
behaving on bare metal.

I found a workaround by copying my default.m3lib from the old server.
However I would like to fix the container for the fews who are still
using it.

Any tips?

I don’t think Squeezelite/LMS was designed to work against hostnames
only IP addresses.
I’m pretty sure that MySqueezebox.com operates on a clustered server
with multiple IP addresses but LMS doesn’t.

@slurmsmckenzie & @Man in a van

Please will you install 2.26.5 from the beta repository and confirm its
working for you. I suspect you are already signed in and it will just
start working.

For info, there seems to be 2 ways for the security tokens to work, one
with a 2 year expiry and one that seems to be infinite, I've no idea
why, this version should work for everybody.

Got it thanks. Bingo. I can see what's happening. I have no idea why
the behaviour differs for some users, but I can fix it. Fix coming
shortly

Done, thanks.

Out of interest I have two versions of LMS running, the primary one is
on PiCorePlayer and the other is running from my Netgear Readynas -
would there be any point in trying from that instance too? It is
currently not signed in, I might never have signed in on that one, can't
remember.

EDIT - scrub that, I see you've already sorted it, great news! :-)

Yes, you can install 2.26.1 manually, but your help would be appreciated
if you would install the latest 2.26.4 and try and sign in and see if
that fixes it. (I'm relying on the help of people who's tokens have
expired, as I can't test this)
If sign-in still doesn't work, please can you turn on bbc sounds debug
logging and try and sign in then send me your server.log. Many thanks

Ohh!! I made a mistake CJS. I suppose the LMS server must be active.

I had LMS 7.7.x in a 715 Synology ARM. Now I changed this NAS. I bought
a 720+ and I must install Docker/LMS. In fact I have all this in my work
NAS. In my home NAS I have a 918+ with
Docker/LMS and as clients SqueezePlay and a Squeezebox Classic.

I will install Docker/LMS As soon as possible.

Thank you very much CJS

Many thanks for the info and your patience. This is fascinating, I've
no clue why it's not letting you sign in. Everything is clearing, there
must be something happening server side at the BBC. I'm going to
create a new version with loads of logging if you would be good enough
to try that. I'll put it up on the beta repository later. Thanks again
for your help with this, unfortunately it's impossible for me to
recreate this without waiting 2 years for a token to expire!

I am not using Mac OS X, but on my Linux system I could solve a similar
problem by temporarily disabling the firewall. I could then connect to
LMS by manually entering the IP address of the LMS server via
Squeezeplay >Settings > Advanced > Networking > Remote Libraries > Add
New Library => Enter IP address. After this was done I enabled the
firewall again and Squeezeplay was still working.

I don't know how to disable the firewall on Mac OS X, but at least you
could try this to confirm that the problem is caused by firewall
settings.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Configuring Squeezeplay for Mac OS X

2022-12-07 Thread jotap_66

Hi:

I used SqueezePlay for MacOsX for years, but I don't remember how to
configure it. I have just installed (from scratch) version 8.0.1.
First of all I chose the (English) language. Later without asking me
tries to connect to my squeezebox.com: 39328
I don't want this, but configure my local LMS server and library:

39329

When I try to switch the library, this screen appears:

39330

What I'm doing wrong.? I configured this for years, but my memory is
failing :-)

How can I choose the local LMS server?

best regards

Might be something to do with the World Cup, they often have to do
something different with some non-UK streams because of sports rights
issues. Although it still seems like a glitch if they played it on R4Ex,
which is hardly "the home of sport" :)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Material Skin not showing the queue controls on my Desktop PC

2022-12-07 Thread bayard1music

Hello Jim and others,

Had another attempt to run once I understood it doesn't effect the
overall install and that one can revert to normal operation.

Perhaps some quirk of my browser / cache but on a third attempt it seems
to be behaving and appears to offer the options I expected. I confess
I've not really touched the sytem for a year or so and am not a
programmer/linux expert although technically competent by dint of
hardware electronics experience , early microprocessors (worked at Psion
on manufacturing test sytem design and DAB radio)

I've reinstalled the server more than once but each time I've done so
everything including the O/S , Server etc has moved on a few iterations
and scope for issues to catch the newbie out.

Last a couple of times I recall I had to install Perl , which was a new
requirement as I understood things.

I've a manual script/procedured that I've put together and includes
modifying the fstab file:

/dev/sda1 /media/music vfat rw,user,umask=000,uid=112,gid=65534 0 0

This came from an early blog/article on installing Squeezeboxserver on a
Pi. It's worked for me . In truth I beleive it gives permission to the
server to access the music stored on my external hard drive. Is this
correct.

I'd welcome any comments about the simplest route to install today and
access music on an external device (1 Terabyte Hard Drive with 1700 Flac
CDs). Thanks once again.

It's not shown in this view when tech info is displayed.

*Material debug:* 1. Launch via http: //SERVER:9000/material/?debug=json
(Use http: //SERVER:9000/material/?debug=json,cometd to also see update
messages, e.g. play queue) 2. Open browser's developer tools 3. Open
console tab in developer tools 4. REQ/RESP messages sent to/from LMS
will be logged here.

Queue track position/total tracks seems to be missing using
SQ-X/material or web browser on a PC.

Seems fine using portrait on android phone (web browser and .apk) but
missing in landscape.

Or am I mis-remembering?

Thank you.
