Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Can I connect a laptop wirelessly to LMS running on main computer, using Squeezelite?

2022-02-14 Thread ChrisNY

I'd recommend installing Squeezelite-X from the Windows app store. You
just need to go into the settings and make sure Squeezelite Player is
toggled as active. You give it a name in this same section and then it
will be available to select as a player in the app itself. It allows
you to use the Material skin interface as well if you like to use that.
Also on the settings screen you need to input the address of the
computer which is running LMS (although this may be automatically found,
I can't recall).

Thanks so much for creating this. The family loves having the

Being located in the United States I modified the original to show a 12

Hmm...could it possibly the actual permissions on the file itself? Does
the owner have write permissions for the file? Should be able to see

I noticed this issue when I upgraded my server a while back. Seems to
be related to a change to a JSON library based on the log file output.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Public Radio Fan

2016-08-28 Thread ChrisNY

I thought I'd add an update to this thread to help others keep using
this plugin with the latest 7.9 version of the server. The current
plugin - found at http://www.malsbury.net/~slim/ - is still working with
7.9 (amazingly!). The only change required to continue to use the
plugin is to change the following line in the install.xml file from:
7.5+
to
7.9+

I've been able to use the plugin successfully with this change. Note
that this only works on the older Squeezebox versions (SB1-3, Boom,
Transporter).

Great plugin which provides easy access to currently playing NPR
programs (Music and Non-Music) as opposed to podcasts.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: YouTube Plugin

2015-09-05 Thread ChrisNY

Just wanted to throw my thanks in for getting this PlugIn working again!
I've been playing around and it seems to be working great.

One thing which might make it easier for new users is to either have the
API key be added via the Settings on the Plugins tab or add a note to
the Description on the Plugins tab alerting to the need to add the API
key via Advanced/Plugins. Took me a little while to figure that out.

Thanks again! I've been gushing to my wife about how great it is to
have the Squeezebox still evolving even though the official hardware has
been orphaned!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin for audio bookmarks

2015-08-01 Thread ChrisNY

I finally got around to activating this plugin on my server. I add my
voice to the others who have expressed their appreciation for writing
this plugin. It's so nice to see things continuing to improve on the
server through the efforts of individuals with a willingness to
contribute their time and skills.

I currently do not have any genres assigned - the thinking for me is
that I like having the ability to pick up an album where I left off (and
to remember which albums I was listening to...). Does anyone have any
thoughts on whether this could have negative performance implications
for the server? My gut says it shouldn't but there could be more to it
than I am aware of.

Thanks again - loving the new functionality this adds!

I've been using the TuneIn app to find many of the NPR programs that I
listen to. If you type in the name of the program in the main Search

You can also go to the Podcasts category if you prefer to browse by

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Squeeze Display for Android

2012-03-22 Thread ChrisNY

I've been using this for a while and really like the ability to easily
see what's playing and a variety of artwork. Much more stable in the
current version.

Would it be possible to have an option to select what tag you want to
use for picking the artwork?

For instance, I just added the latest Shins album and it has The Shins
as Album Artist and James Mercer as Composer. The Squeeze Display is
picking up the Composer tag and displaying James Mercer at the top and
showing James Mercer photos.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Public Radio Fan

2011-02-20 Thread ChrisNY

I was using the Public Radio Fan plug-in this morning to find Wait Wait
Don't Tell me as I do most weekends. I realized that since I don't
believe this is in the Plug-In repositories many people may not be
aware of it. Here'e the link to the plug-in site:
http://www.malsbury.net/~slim/

Great plug-in. Two questions on a related note:
1. Is there a way to get this into the repositories?
2. It only works with the older Squeezeboxes (Boom, SB1-3). Is there
a way to access this on the Touch, Controller, etc?

I believe all you would need to do is open the browser and open

This will give you the Nokia touch screen interface which works quite

2006-05-21 Thread ChrisNY

Alas, I followed your advice from the previous post and initiated a
database clear/rebuild through Slimserver. I then reinstalled
LazySearch and have had no problems since. I took a look at the latest
cd's I've ripped into iTunes and none of them seemed to have any new
Genres that weren't there before.

Perhaps the AlienBBC plugin made some kind of modification to the
database which caused the problem? Unfortunately I read your reply
about saving a copy of the SQL database too late.

All seems to be working great once again with the LazySearch. It
wasn't until I was without it for a few days that I recalled what a
great plugin it is, indeed! Thank you for all your work!

2006-05-19 Thread ChrisNY

I'll certainly run the debug logs before I try to correct anything. I
was in the midst of trying to get AlienBBC installed and running when
this happened. I assumed it was the AlienBBC plugin that was causing
the unstable behaviour, but it was the LazySearch plugin. Not sure if
installing AlienBBC caused a hiccup. On the bright side, I've finally
got AlienBBC working after several failed attempts. Brute force and
ignorance...

From what I recall it was hanging up at the genre portion of the
lazification process. I'll recreate the issue and post a detailed log
this evening. I am running the 6.2.2 version of Slimserver and the
appropriate version of the plugin.

Thanks, as usual, to all for the help.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] LazySearch Database Location?

2006-05-18 Thread ChrisNY

LazySearch has been causing my Slimserver to not start properly. It
hangs up for a while and then eventually crashes. I've removed the
plugin and can get into my Slimserver now. Is there a way to clear the
LazySearch index file and reinstall/re-Lazify my music to see if that
fixes the problem? Where is the index file stored?

-Chris
