Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotty plugin - is it possible to change Spotify-connect settings from CLI call ?

2022-12-21 Thread Man in a van

Have you tried just adding the

-C

'command to squeezelite ?'

I think Spotify drops the output when it is stopped.

Maybe try this; play something using Squeezelite, stop the player, use
Spotify-connect from a Phone or tablet, halt playback, select the phone
or tablet as the spotify-Connect client but don't play any music.

You should then be able to play via Squeezelite.

Ok will try after lunch

At the moment save stations as favourites are playing

If I open the BBC sounds under My Apps the message is to sign in

Sign in does not work.

Earlier this morning I tried signing in on a Max2Play install and got

I think it's the terminology that is mixed up.

It should be Linear (live Broadcast) and Non-linear (streaming)

The changes were announced back in May of this year.

Live Broadcast is to stop and content made avaialble via streaming.

What format the Streaming takes will have to be heard when it happens, I
can't find any information that is current.

According to this

https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/speeches/2022/digital-first-bbc-director-general-tim-davie

there is a three year waiting time

You will just have to wait.

As the station is already on BBC Sounds, perhaps it will just be left as
is; save as a favourite and add to a Preset via the Presets Editor
(which surely you have done already?).

Hi RedJim :)

I have made another pCP install with LMS v8.2.1

I only installed the Radio Now Playing Plugin (v0.0.20) and still have
no meta data

I had forgotten I had a copy of the repo so I did the necessary and used
that; still no meta data

I connected the piCore player to my default LMS and the meta data
appeared and playback worked.

I appear to have (as Mr. Macmillan succinctly put it) "a little local
difficulty"

I don't intend to waste further time on this

I wish everyone a pleasant Weekend and stay safe :)

I'm sorry that I can't help as I'm using Tidal at the mo :)

I found this

https://www.qobuz.com/be-nl/info/hi-fi/bancs-d-essai/qobuz-application-m-connect-player180019

I don't know anything really about the LMS Plugin for Qobuz, whether it
delivers the full HD experience or not

If it were me, I would look for a standalone device with which I could
utilise the "Full" experience and run it alongside the rpi 4b LMS.

sorry :(

This evening I formatted a 64gb usb stick with exfat using

http://ridgecrop.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm

After a bit of a faff (I don't use smb on a regulat basis) I was able to
to connect to the stick in a rpi4b pCP OS.

I tried both with smb 1 enabled and default disable in my Windows 10 Pro
Desktop.

Both of my connections were really slow but it is an old machine (about
twelve years)

Aahh!

So actually the set up is

LMS and Player on pCp connecting to Music store on Windows 10
computer

or is it

LMS and Player on pCp connecting to Music store on pCP with atatched
hard drive

and OP does not want to unplug the hard drive on pCP to connect it to
the Windows computer for updating

Is that it ?

I'm confused

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Max2Play and PiCorePlayer spots randomly when playing Spotify streams via SPOTTY

2022-02-20 Thread Man in a van

@HERCULEPIRATE

I have never used the LMS Spotty Plugin very much :(

The reason is that I once asked Mr Herger a question regarding Rust and
he replied that I might like to "try it myself" :) (or something like
that :D)

Anyway, not knowing how to compile even a garden compost bin I started
looking for posts from people who knew what they are doing.

I found a post by pinkdot on another forum and that remained my "go to"
buld for "librespot" for a very long time.

Pinkdot eventually seemed to move to spotifyd but my brain could not
cope with all the copy and paste

Then I found "spocon" and have been using it ever since (intermittently
as I often suspend my Spotify Premium Account)

https://github.com/spocon/spocon

This morning I installed it on the two rpi that I have configured for
m2p

37269

It does require a little configuration; name change, bit playback size,
volume at start up, that sort of thing.

It does seem reliable, I have been controlling it from my Windows 10 Pro
Desktop Spotify for about an hour now, with no glitches

Anyway I offer "spocon" as an alternative method :):):p

I think this may be a case of "too many cooks.."

Try this;

Install m2p on one raspberry pi with LMS, install the LMS Spotty Plugin
on this rpi.

Also install Squeezelite on this rpi and configure it with -C 10

Configure this player as a Spotify-Connect end point

On the other rpi, install m2p as a Squeezelite player and configure it
with -C 10 also enable this as a Spotify-Connect end point player in
the LMS Spotty settings

Do not install the M2P Spotify Plugin

I suggest you make new installs of m2p and make sure it is up to date
and use LMS v 8.3, also ensure that the rpi each have a unique name

>From browsing this forum it seems that the Spotify-Connect function in
LMS can be a little flakey :(

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] No Album No Artist

2022-01-21 Thread Man in a van

My preference is :

Keep the OS on a small capacity card; 16gb is more than enough, expand
the files system to 2gb at the max

Use a usb stick (I currently have a system with a 128gb stick) with the
music files on, plugged into the rpi.

Alternately a 2.5 inch usb hd drive (not a SSD)

KISS

Format the stick / drive to suit the computer OS which stores a back up
of the music files.

Back up the OS on the SD card (this will preserve cache, preferences and
pathways)

ronnie

Spread the risk :)

Hi Brian

It might be expedient to make an occasional backup of your system (SD

a little search found this

https://community.volumio.org/t/volumio-3-on-nanopi-neo2-and-neo3/52319

an outside guess would be that the hardware (nanopi) is outdated

IMHO the key word here is "better"

Replace this with "preferable" or "different" and there might be some
substance to different people "hearing" differently.

Moode and Volumio use MPD and LMS SqueezeOS (and emulaters thereof) to
produce the sound (this my understanding, and not a definitive
statement:p)

There are people who like Moode / Volumio more than LMS, some who like
Squeezelite more through Moode than LMS.

One person I know, on another forum, told me that he preffered Moode to
LMS because he was "cursed with perfect pitch" and that Moode worked for
him and LMS did not.

When I first tried Moode, about v3, I found its presentation of music
different to LMS in a more detailed and (faster) dynamic way (if my
memory is correct).

I did not take notes, did not double blind test or ensure the volume
was level matched.

I did not pronounce it "better", or "best".

My suggestion is that you try for yourself and back your own judgement
and settle for that :):)

ronnie

Cables, power supplies and output stages are also, IMO, best served by
the empirical experience of the user :):p

just to explain a little

This is my lsmod

  snd_soc_core 229376 1 snd_soc_bcm2835_i2s
  snd_bcm283528672 0
  snd_usb_audio 241664 1
  snd_hwdep 16384 1 snd_usb_audio

  snd_compress 20480 1 snd_soc_core
  snd_rawmidi36864 1 snd_usbmidi_lib
  snd_seq_device 16384 1 snd_rawmidi
  snd_pcm_dmaengine 16384 1 snd_soc_core
  snd_pcm 114688 7
snd_compress,snd_usb_audio,snd_pcm_dmaengine,snd_soc_bcm2835_i2s,snd_bcm2835,snd_soc_core
  snd_timer 36864 1 snd_pcm
  spi_bcm283520480 0
  snd77824 11
snd_compress,snd_hwdep,snd_usb_audio,snd_timer,snd_rawmidi,snd_usbmidi_lib,snd_seq_device,snd_bcm2835,snd_soc_core,snd_pcm

  fixed 16384 0
  squashfs 40960 40
  zram 28672 1
  zsmalloc 28672 1 zram

There is no snd_usb_audio listed in your example.

So, assuming:

that beta mode is elected in pCP (from the bottom of the Main page)

the dac is powered on, the usb input selected and the rpi rebooted,

then with no snd_usb_audio in your lsmod, it means that the dac is not
recognised.

By installing the raspberry pi Buster Desktop OS, if the dac is listed
then :

you can install squeezelite as a player

ask *paul- *if he can help by showing him the two lsmod files :)

Well forget about pCP for a while and install raspberrypi desktop on the
rpi.

Update and upgrade the software, enable VNC server and SSH on the rpi,
connect the dac, power the dac on and reboot the pi.

The dac should be shown as an output when you right click the rpi
desktop volume control

the run lsmod again to compare with pCP.

Well actually, I don't think help is needed.

Using the default LMS web gui I started a Beach Boys "Top Tracks"

Halfway through the second track I skipped back to Album Artsits in the
header, selected 10cc > Album Artists > 10cc > Browse on Spotify > Top
Tracks, clicked on All songs and the Beach Boys stopped and 10cc
started.

So it does work, maybe not so well in third party apps, buit hey!

I navigated to Beth Orton Tapped on Stolen Car, at the end of the track
the playback button on the bottom returned to the left side and did not
start track two.

I then repeated the procedure with Bob Marley and track two actually
started just as the button reached the end on the right hand side.

Whilst still playing I selected Blondie, but it would not start playing
and the Top Tracks field on the left hand side was empty.

I stopped Bob Marley reselected Blondie ( I went back Three screens to
Browse on Spotify) aand played through to track two.

I stopped Blondie and tried Beth Orton again (when doing the change I
returned to Home and proceeded from there). This time the button
returned and track two started.

Maybe it's the selection process which is important ? (now on track 3)

Works for me on my iPad::)

Tapped on My Music > Album Artist > Beth Orton > Browse on Spotify >
Albums > Pass in Time > Tap on Track 1 "She Cries Your Name" > Tap on
Play

Have you checked LMS Settings > Player > Basic Settings is "Play other
songs"
