Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Denon AVP Control Plugin
Hmm.. Interestingly (frustratingly) today I had some unrelated issues with my Windows server system and now it appears that the plugin won't load. Can't figure out yet why. The changes I made were put in roughshod. Marantz (same parent company as Denon) uses a number of commands that are different than the ones in the plugin for Denon, including the Standby command to turn the PrePro off. I also added a hard-coded source selection for "CD" (the input I'm using with my Squeezebox) to the power ON function. Today I planned to add the source selection elsewhere to make sure it also activated if the Marantz was already on (the plugin skips the poweron function if the device is already on). I don't think I'll take it beyond these simple hacks if I can get the plugin loading again. There's too much code to change and not enough time for me to dedicate. :) The whole thing would really need to be refactored and simplified to be able to properly support both Denon and Marantz AVR/Pre systems cleanly from a high level. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Denon AVP Control Plugin
Is this plugin still maintained? It's working well with my Marantz AV7703, but needs a few changes/enhancements. If it's not being maintained I might eventually make some time to hack the changes in myself, but if it is, some simple changes would best be done by Chris the author (or whomever is currently maintaining it). Telnet works perfectly fine. I've tested the plugin Denon AVP/AVR Control by Chris Couper which seems to work, but is missing a number of features, such as the ability to send extra (arbitrary) commands on power ON and OFF, so I can't yet set the device to the correct input automaticaly. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezebox remote app for Android ?
Has anyone found an app that works with remote control input on the official Android TV platform? And equally important, something that doesn't look like absolute dump? You'd think it was an Android development requirement. Mostly interested in a controller to allow full-screen TV browsing with artwork - playback can happen on a real Squeezebox. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iTunes ratings integration
James;223724 Wrote: iTunes likes to be in control of the music files - using it any other way is probably going to cause many headaches! Sorry to disagree, but that's simply not true. I've posted tips on using iTunes with Slimserver numerous times in both the general and beginner's forum that specifically disallow iTunes from managing music file locations. It makes iTunes use a lot more straight forward and idiot-proof. Philip, Slimserver does not manage music files - it has no such capabilities, so it can never be a primary manager or master music library source. It employs a scanner to read an existing managed music library. It also trashes stats regularly (clean and rescan, etc) so it's not an ideal place to hold playback stats. You can manage your collection manually (files and folders), let iTunes manage it, or use yet another program to do this. My solution is to manage music files and folder manually using the Finder (filesystem) and both iTunes and Slimserver are simply scanners and views to my music. Set iTunes prefs like this General: UNCHECK Check for updates automatically Advanced: UNCHECK Keep iTunes music folder organized UNCHECK Copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library (this is the critical one) You want to uncheck the first option because newer iTunes updates seem to always break Slimserver scanner integration. It's also additional trouble I'll explain below. If the third option is unchecked, then I believe the second one can only ever do anything when you use iTunes to rip CDs - it won't affect drag and dropping of files onto iTunes. To add music to iTunes simply drag and drop it from your folders into the iTunes library and/or individual playlists. You can do your whole collection at once if you so choose. The last time I rebuilt my iTunes DB (due to Slimserver bugs scanning it), I just dropped my entire collection at once (20k files). You can set Slimserver up to read from your iTunes library or just scan the music folders directly. Letting it use iTunes has the advantages you likely know about, such as picking up iTunes playlists and the like. I then use iTunesUpdate to populate iTunes stats based on Slimserver playback. This works fine as long as you don't ever have any modal windows pop up in iTunes (like New Version available- in that case it will cause playback to stop after the current track until you dismiss the modal window. -- MelonMonkey Bruno *'Twisted Melon - Fine Mac OS Software' (http://twistedmelon.com) | 'mira - Personal Control for your Apple Remote' (http://twistedmelon.com)* MelonMonkey's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8466 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=37986 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] IRBlaster wishlist
One of the big issues with the IRBlaster is that it's using lirc command files, many of which are incorrect. If the author switched over to using Pronto codes, they're far easier to understand and are either available or can be constructed in very clean states. The Volume issue specifically is likely due to incorrect one-time and repeat sequences. If you've learned the command yourself it's learned as RAW which is unsuitable to be repeated for many IR protocols without an enormous duration to make it look like multiple taps. I have specs for Pronto codes and a large number of IR protocols for anyone interested in attacking this mod. -- MelonMonkey Bruno *'Twisted Melon - Fine Mac OS Software' (http://twistedmelon.com) | 'mira - Personal Control for your Apple Remote' (http://twistedmelon.com)* MelonMonkey's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8466 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=36093 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Felix, yes, I was using the correct conf file. The others I have installed contain different internal device names. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] help with ir blaster please
I just spoke with Felix in email about a similar problem. And also an apparently faulty conf file I downloaded. IR commands for most devices are made up of a lead-in, a one-time pattern, a repeat pattern and a lead-out (and delay). When you press a remote button one time you get a sequence exactly as I mentioned. Different remote protocols will repeat the repeat segment different number of times for a single press as redundancy. Some protocols repeat segments are the same as their one-time others are drastically different (different is more common). When a remote button is held down on an original remote, you would get the lead in, the one-time sequence and then the repeat sequence would repeat as long as you held the button. A full command sequence may look like this: abcdxyxyxy Where abcd is the one-time and xy is the repeat sequence. When such a command is recorded as RAW it will look like the above. However, repeating that raw would produce: abcdxyxyxyabcdxyxyxyabcdxyxyxy Which will most definitely screw up many devices. They will not see this as a properly repeating command. They may see it as multiple single presses or they may see it only as one single press and then ignore the rest because the proper delay was not present between these different singles. To properly repeat such commands, the transmitter (blasting software for instance) needs to know the structure of the command. It needs to know the one time and the repeat sequences to be able to send them the right amount of times AT the right times. A description of the format should be included at the top of a properly learned/written lirc configuration file. There's no guarantee any file you download has been properly created though. I have offered Felix full documentation for the Pronto IR format and any additional information he may need to add support for this into his software. There are many more remote codes available, and properly learned, in Pronto long () format than there are lirc config files. I'm using a Denon Amp and currently cannot use Volume because the raw code learned will not repeat properly. The lirc file would not work at all, though Felix noticed something missing from it and fixed it for me - I still have to test it. The only ambiguity in using Pronto commands is the fact there's no standard for writting multiple commands into a single text file. The interface for IR Blaster can be changed to accomodate pasting the pronto command directly into a text box though along with the name given to that command. I've also previously created a text file format for storing multiple Pronto commands which I can share. -- MelonMonkey Bruno *'Twisted Melon - Fine Mac OS Software' (http://twistedmelon.com) | 'mira - Personal Control for your Apple Remote' (http://twistedmelon.com)* MelonMonkey's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8466 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35535 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: SlimScrobbler for SlimServer 6.5
The problem with submitting radio-sourced material is that the data does not help to build a good representation of user preferences on Last.FM. The music is selected by the raio operator and not the user, therefore even items that aren't liked will be included. This will vary from person to person of course. Random Play of a diverse collection has the same problem of course. And it's only a problem depending on your definition/use of Last.FM. Personally, I don't see an issue with it as I'm not a Last.FM elitest like some of the freaks posting to their forums. I use Last.FM for person reasons/purposes and could care less what someone else thinks of my listening habits or whether or not they consider I'm trying to spam the results by listening for over 20 hours per day. -- MelonMonkey Bruno *'Twisted Melon - Fine Mac OS Software' (http://twistedmelon.com) | 'mira - Personal Control for your Apple Remote' (http://twistedmelon.com)* MelonMonkey's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8466 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27161 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Audioscrobbler Tag Submitting?
Tags have never worked for me. I've always run 6.5.1 with the lasted Audioscrobbler plugin. Though in the past few days I'm questioning the usefulness of scrobbling at all. The Last.FM site is really bad. Really really bad. It has more bugs than Slimserver beta nightly releases and user data is continuously getting lost or calculated wrong. Their developers also don't care about cleaning their databases nor does the site's focus/goals center around giving its users much control or configuration. Lastly, don't get me started on their ghastly layout and UI which is a nightmare to navigate. Originally I had started scrobbling to be able to dump from last.FM to my web site a list of recent plays. They only have a really weak method of doing this which lists only tracks and as an image. They have no concept of ALBUM from which tracks come, so I'm better off trying to get a plugin for Slimserver to do this. The other use was to find new artists I might like based on my listening habits. However their algorithms for finding similar are so basic I was amazed at some of the stuff they group together. Plus when the site completely wipes your neighbor lists, it makes it hard to follow even manually what others are listening to. Every problem I've ever seen so far with submitting info to Last.FM has been the fault of Last.FM. The Slim plugin does everything it should (at least for track submission) but Last.FM's POST scrobbler server is often down or otherwise refuses the data. Then you'll get a mass submission later in the day. -- MelonMonkey Bruno *'Twisted Melon - Fine Mac OS Software' (http://twistedmelon.com) | 'mira - Personal Control for your Apple Remote' (http://twistedmelon.com)* MelonMonkey's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8466 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=30127 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
