mherger wrote: Fine but it seems it actually downloaded all pictures again ?? even if have a full of artist pictures in my folder or did it just take 7,5 minute to check them ? The artist picture download is rather different from cover art, which causes this big difference: for cover art we do have a column in the table, telling LMS whether artwork is available or not. We don't have this option for artist pictures. Therefore the full list of artists is processed each time you run a scan. If you have a local folder with artist pictures, this should speed up things considerably, as the scanner will check this first, before going online. but modified time are at this scan so the are accessed and written to ? That's not expected though. Were these pictures downloaded with a previous version? , and it also did to cover lookup again but now there is different amount of covers missing ?? The number should be lower than last time, as the last scan added new artwork to your folder. As artwork is added to this folder, the main scanner will already pick it up on a subsequent run (this feature has always been there, .jpg only). Therefore once the scanner reaches the plugin's importer, those covers are already in place, and the album's record would be flagged. Pre caching went fine , the numbers must be i have not added 185 pics or does this include all sizes it does of each pic ? Hmm... I never paid much attention to this stage. I'll have to see how the pre-caching does its calculations. Maybe it's per track: one album with ten tracks would result in 10 items to process. -- Michael Same version The scans are just hours apart . Re cover art , the cover art folder is not used there is nothing in it , so the plugin must still have them in the cache ? If you have a defined artwork folder for the artist this will survive upgrades etc . Then I could replace No Artist picture once and be done . Could we also have the plugin looking for the generic picture for when it can't find any (the man with the horn) in this folder ? In order to show off this new feature I added a modification to the Default web skin, which would show artist artwork in the My Music / Artists menu (see screenshot in previous posting). If you've been using the Default skin, then the plugin will automatically switch to the MusicArtistInfo skin after the update. Should you decide not to use the modified skin, then you can switch back in the settings. The plugin will not change the skin again. Please not that the first time you fire up that page, load time can be awful, as the plugin will have to look up every single artist in your collection. Feature request: Stop . Stop is different from pause in some respects ( holding pause does not stop like a normal squeezebox but brings the sleep menu ). A track will start from the beginning if you stop and play it again. Pausing radio stream can sometimes cache part of them , which can be good but not always wanted , sometimes you just want listen where it is rigth now . Who knows what else server activity is different in stop vs pause ? pippin wrote: Boah... I already find the Squeezebox state model overly complex even with what iPeng supports now. If this was my design it would only have play and pause like Sonos. No stop, no power. Just causes complexity and confusion. Yes, it's flexible and I'm sure you can attach dozens of actions based on a complex rule set to all of these states but no normal user will be able to distinguish them let alone understand what happens with all these states in cases like synchronization (the power state is one thing that makes sync-groups so unfeasible for Squeezeboxes - too many states to decide on). All these things players can do based on these different states would be better solved by applying common sense and logic within the player. For example, you could power down an amp when a track is paused for more than two minutes or so and you could revert to the start of the track simply by pressing back if you need to; pre-filling buffer is also a technical detail that should be solved by the player based on the current state. /rant So, as you can see I'm going to be dogmatic here :) It adds confusion and complexity and there is rarely ever a need for it and if you really need it you can use power. Powering off a device makes it transition to stop state, not pause. If you just want to return to the start of the track you can press back. it actually confuses me thats there is no stop I think play pause stop ffw rwd are quite normal stuff for anything since the cassette or VHS days I would find eject confusing ;) I dont think thats overcomplex . I agree somewhat on the power states but it also impacts server activity for sleep etc so it could be necessary and i do like the opurtinity for an off screensaver , when it works which it actually does not for the moment , (but i assume any fw bugs are a lost case these days) . The backligth on a Touch could come on when you least expect it .I do agree more for the old players where the power-state is remembered by the server and the player is clueless ? thats useless (does the local server share this state with mysb.com ?). I'm not really sure when it would be necessary to recreate the original CD but I read somewhere it was a good idea to always keep the log/cue files just in case. Do you disagree? PS. I don't have any albums with a single FLAC/WAV file. Maybe it's best I just exclude .cue files from being scanned? Edit: Since I don't use playlists at all, maybe I can just leave the Playlist Folder setting blank? Would that solve my issue? Who uses playlists anyway? I never understood the need for them except for when you create a custom playlist yourself. And the custom playlist done via lms goes into the directory you select so you need that . Also use a directory not in the path of the music folder . Well then just exclude *.cue *.m3u and *.m3u8 from being scanned , however I'm still not sure it will help maybe in the *.cue case . I think LMS is a bit smarter in never versions but try . If your ripping software creates m3u files for an album you have no use of them IMO just delete them . pippin wrote: One thing: when that happens the next time, could you check whether a player is selected (active) in iPeng? Main menus for the Squeezebox are player-dependent, so a player needs to be selected for them to be loaded. iPeng tries to use the player that was active when you left it and to assure that, it allows for an extended time to start up if the active player is iPeng itself. The reason for this is that sometimes it can take a while that the server detects and reports a newly connected player and I don't want to switch it away just because it took a while to get it reported. This is especially true if a server switch is involved. Other than that, iPeng now has a pretty robust retry code in place. There is a certain condition that can cause loading the menu to be delayed by one iteration but that's 15s, no more. It appeared to be selected I could use the play and skip buttons ? However you may be rigth in that it would help to go to player menu first , I'm playing on one of my Touch btw . I do think I see the 15 s scenario quite often . Btw LMS and squeezeboxes are wired . You can't easilly change the delivered flac binary in LMS as it is done with special patches . I don't know what support from the OS triodes helper app or libspotify would miss on a 64bit only Ubuntu ? Are they all current so that you should listen in a couple of times a week to the latest shows or do old shows stand up and can be enjoyed years afterwards . I do know a couple of funkaholics they will wreck my furniture next time i have a party :) they cant get enough of it . Me ? my quota is filled with a biweekly dose of funk , but i do like it . Thanks for the plugin . Is it only 64kBps btw ? goes down well on my boom and possibly in the kitchen stereo but played in my main hifi it simply wont pass I'll get itchy and develop skin rashes :/ sorry for being a hifi crackpot on you . So while I'd like it 192k stereo too, it sounds ok on my Touch, and hey - how much do you think really comes out of those scratchy 33s they have as input? nothing yet. You can register on the website and build a collection of your favorite songs, and a future version of the plugin will hopefully be able to tap into that. Also: search. But first things first, today's update adds proper song metadata info. cheers, -daduke Great more metadata and search even better . I do want to tap into more info on the artists ,in fact this is a cool channel I never heard most of the music they play ,and if heard of the artist the particular mix or version is an unknown and I like their choices . Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Alternative Web Interface (beta)
The point with albumartist tag vs artist tag is the the list gets very Long and cluttered with all artists deepening on how you tag . Some people use AA for the main artist on the record and actually fill in all guests ,collaborators and the kitchen sink in the artist tags and as LMS supports multiple artist tags it easy to go this route . To compound this LMS has its own internal, logic to how to populate it s artist list all user don't agree with it. So specifically list by the tag artist and the tag albumartist as an option to what LMS calls artist would be nice options . You just need a mac address that is in the proper range . You must use the -mac switch to overide the default mac address that squeezeslave reports to the LMS. I would recommend one in the range that Boom's use. I had to try picking one a few times before it worked. For example try starting in the 00:04:20:1A:xx:xx range and adding one (in HEX) to the last octet until you succeed. If it is in use by a real world SB or just not sane, it will give you the already in use message. The default mac 00:00:00:00:00:01 is not going to cut it for Pandora. You must use the command line override for mac address to make this work. Put it before the hostname/ip of your LMS. (be sure to replace xx with numbers ;) Code: ./squeezeslave -R -mac 00:04:20:1A:xx:xx hostname of your LMS The common part of mac for squeezeboxes seems to be 00:04:20 the rest is unique per player Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=90851 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Thanks for putting it in a repo ,this makes reinstalls a breeze as its now in my preference file and will restore as any other plugin if have to reinstall . so now I can try it out . Is it still broken on Firefox ? That's a bit limiting FIrefox is otherwise well behaved with LMS servers normal GUI better than IE that leaves chrome/google which I'm not very fond of . mherger wrote: I noticed that Deezer Picks repeat themselves quite often - thats what triggered my thoughts on expanding the music base The mixing is independent of the music service you use, except for the catalog being used, of course. But that catalog isn't all that different that you would see a considerable difference in the mix quality. I am subscribed to Last FM and I would like to avoid subscribing to additional services doing a similar thing. Also, I like the picks from Last FM - so, if these picks could be incorporated in a smart mix, it would be great. Last.fm isn't a track based service. They don't offer music on demand. Therefore it can't be supported. My question about how to enable MOG was also related to how to expand the music base of the smart mix picks Adding MOG to Deezer would mostly multiply the sources from where you could play the same tracks, but not so much the choice of music. (Now lets just hope Logitech keeps mySB alive a couple of more years, so your plugin and the used Apps continue to work.) The nice thing about this plugin is that it doesn't require mysb.com to work. Even if it was shut down you would be able to use it to mix your own music. Or spotify using Triode's plugin. -- Michael Would it be possible to pick songs from bandcamp ? At the risk of still not understanding your sarcasm... no, the plugin doesn't deal with any of those services, as it would mean re-implement a lot of what's already there. And yes, I have no idea what TEN returns. I simply take the ID and tell LMS to play it. It'll then use the corresponding plugin to get metadata for it etc. -- Michael Ok then I understand , so in case of local files TEN simply returns my own track id's , and similar for the services I use .
