Ok, thanks a million for all your help. Was great to have such instant responses and things to try. I will try the startup from the command line. I just open a command window in the SC root directory and then run the .exe? I don't need any command line parameters? Sorry, I'm getting pretty confused now. I was looking for the Alien plugin but of course everything has moved now. I was making a custom-convert.conf in SqueezeCenter\server. I from the log (attached) that the Alien plugin is over in \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SqueezeCenter\Cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins\Alien should I be editing the custom-convert.conf in this Alien location and if so how should I edit it. It already seems to have the -r and -x options. File also attached. A clean install with no bitrate limiting is what I have. Attached is the requested log file. I am getting silence and not static. 1. Mplayer test works OK 2. Softsqueeze playing works OK. So does Squeezebox How do I do what you suggest in 3? Ok, disabled the RTSP-WAV and RTSP-FLAC. Plays OK in Softsqueeze Still plays sliently in Slimp3. Attached is the log file. The first play is for the Slimp3 and the second is for Softsqueeze. Changing the station timeout made no difference. Changing the bitrate to 64K however did work. The Slimp3 now shows 'buffering xx%' and when it fills plays the station. What does this tell us? Does this point us towards a better solution? I can browse to a BBC stream and play it successfully from SoftSqueeze or from the SliMP3 player itself. However, if I try to start the stream using the web interface by clicking the play icon the stream does not play and I get this error in the server log: ERROR: Async: Couldn't resolve IP address for: www.bbc.co.uk ERROR: scanRemoteURL: Can't connect to remote server to retrieve playlist: Couldn't resolve IP address for: www.bbc.co.uk. Not sure why there should be a difference between these two ways of initiating the stream but there would seem to be a bug here somewhere. Made no difference. Clearly access via the GUI is able to resolve www.bbc.co.uk at some points in the code as it's correctly pulling and displaying the contents of say Radio 4 A-Z. It works fine for radioio, Live365 and Slim Devices Picks. The problem seems to be specific to AlienBBC. I tried restarting the server and that made no difference. I didn't expect it to. If this was the problem then wouldn't it affect both ways of starting the stream and not just one? The problem must be something else. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC to GSPlayer on Pocket PC
I use GSPlayer on my Pocket PC to open the URL //slimserver:9000/stream.mp3 and listen to music. This seems to work fine with MP3s streamed from the slimserver. However, at night I'd like to listen to radio it doesn't seem to work with AlienBBC. GSPlayer displays the name of the radio programme I chose to listen to but I don't ever get any sound. In the slimserver debug I see this message 'Alien only streams to Slim players' which would seem to indicate the source of the problem. Is there a technical reason why it can't stream to the Pocket PC? [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC RTSP Convert error
I'm running SlimServer 6.3.1 - 8468 - Windows 2000 - EN - cp1252 against a Slimp3 firmware version 2.2. I've been using earlier versions of AlienBBC in this environment without any problems up to and including server version 6.2. However, with the latest install of the slim server and running the AlienBBC v1.05 installed with the Install pack for SlimServer 6.2.x and 6.3 I am now unable to play any BBC content on the slimp3. I get the error 'RTSP Convert error - check file types' Interestingly I do not get this error when I play on a remote laptop using SoftSqueeze so I'm not sure this is a server side problem. Can someone suggest what the issue is and what I should check. Yes, I managed to get their on my own after seeing the error when trying to select the RTSP/lame type in the server settings. I put lame.exe into SlimServer\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread and now all seems well. Thanks for the speedy reply.
