I listen and use this plugin for lots of listening . However after
having to do a new install of Max2play and LMS I can start the RP music
playing but it stops after a single track . This seems to be on the FLAC
streams . I have added a download of the server log but do not
understand what is happening . Can anyone advise ?

Just a quick line to say thank you for this plugin after the years I
used the iBBC Player I was very sad to see that go . However things move
on and this new plug in gives me all of the old plug ins features and
more. It is so good to be able to listen to the stations and shows I
want to at the best possible quality with little more than a few button
presses .

Not sure if this is the right place to put this but I think it will end

The above is the confirmation of Spotify finally offering a CD Quality

Spotify and if so do they feel the current plugin will be able to add

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Raspberry Pi Model 4 Memory Options for PiCorePlayer and LMS Server or Just Player

2020-08-08 Thread bencat

I am making this comment becuase it is what i have found to be the case
and at least one other user has confirmed the same findings . If you are
going to use a Raspberry Pi 4 as a stand alone LMS which i have done
starting off with Raspberry Pi A and upgraded as new ones come along
then please check on that the the Pi 4 you get is the latest version as
there have been quite a few firmware changes since release. The current
Pi 4 sounds better than any of the other Pi incarnations I have used .
This better sound quality is quieter back ground , better seperation of
instruments , increased image quality and bass in paticular becomes more
textured and seperated . It is now much easier to hear in to the music .

Now I know the above is proabaly not what many believe and in truth
until I was forced to change my Pi4 4gb because a PSU destroyed it for a
new 8 gb unit i would not have believed it either . However I used the
same Raspberry Pi white standard PSU and the same Max2play loaded SD
card from the destryoed Pi 4 4gb straight in to the 8 gb unit and the
uplift in sound quality was very obvious on all players in the system .
Now my 4gb unit was one of the very first bought the same day it
launched and has been in place since then . Sound quality was always
good but in truth no difference to the Pi3 I had used before that .
However is was quicker and smoother in response. The change i made was
not for any idea of better sound quality and aside from the updates to
the Pi 4 board I have no clue why it should sound better but it does. I
first thought this was just the increase in RAM to 8 gb giving head roo
for the system but the other user who found the same only used a Pi 4
2gb but also got the increase in sound quality that i have noted. I
honestly have not explanation and understand if anyone is sceptical .
Truth is now my systems around the house sound better than ever and the
better the system the more they have improved so I am just delighted and
will offer this as an opinion only that I would reccomend others to try
.

Hi Craig

I use Material Skin on my PC and love the look and additional
information it gives. I probably do not use it in the same was as many
who have issues here so I have no issues.

I would like to thank you for your work and time in getting this Plug In
to work and give us such a nice interface , I would also thank you for
the patience you show in responding to many of the questions here . I
think many seem to forget that you do this for free and this is not a
paid for Plug in so any work you do and questions you answer are down to
your generosity . Thanks . Now if you feel inclined to do a similar
option for an Android tablet that would be perfect (this is just a joke
what you have done already is brilliant) .

Hi changing your Library Drive (the one with all your music on ) is very
simple . You will first need to put all of your music on your new SSD
then literally unplug and remove your current HD and repalce it with
your SSD in the same USB slot . Once this done you will need to go on to
LMS and Settings then to the Basic page . You will see a line Media
Folders and it should show the path to your old HD . Delete this and
then add the path media/usb0/ (the name of your Library File) this is
whatever you have named the folder mine is called Music Files.

Once that is complete you then need to do a full scan and LMS will
delete all of the old links to your previous HD and add the links from
your new SSD .

To be honest the above sounds much more complicated than it is and if
you added your original HD yourself then you will be able to do this
easily .

In the past when you hit the top right corner dots symbol you got a drop
down menu that included a server settings button which took you to the
standard LMS Settings page so you could rescan media , change plugins
etc .

Over the last two days the settings button has gone and only after a
search was I able to find a Server Settings button under Information
button and in the information stream after the details of the Server
used. . However the style and use is very different to the normal LMS
settings page and navigating through the various pages is not as easy .

Is this a deliberate change that is being implemented and will the
Server Settings now be under Information for the future ? If this is the
case then fine will live with that . Could I ask howver if it is
possible to change the Settings page back to the original LMS version as
this is much better to use.

I am using this on a Windows 10 PC with Firefox Browser .

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Max2Play Webinterface for Mediaclients (Audioplayer, Squeezeserver, Airplay, XBMC)

2019-09-27 Thread bencat

Previously I had only been able to use Max2play as the LMS server due to
my own lack of knowledge using the software. All of my audio players
were PiCore loaded . While this worked fine I realised it was just
laziness and stupidity on my part that was preventing me from changing
all of this over to Max2play for both my server and players.

I used a single player as the learning tool . This was a Raspberry Pi 3
+ with a Just Boom Digi hat . So made up a new SD Card with the latest
Max2play Download and then rebooted . A quick use of Advanced ISP
Scanner identified the ISP for the new instance of Max2play then it was
straight on to the start page pick the Just Boom version offered then
tidy up things like naming the player (JustBoom) so it is easy to know
which is the Server and which is the player . Change to Audio Card and
everything worked.

I have now one by one gone through all my players and added them under
Max2play which makes things just a little easier . Everything works fine
now and I prefer the GUI and options on Max2play as they seem more
logical and obvious to me at least.

Been running LMS on an RPi 4 4GB unit for over two months now and no
issues at all very stable and quick with really fault free responses to
track changes , sources and palyer switches.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Amazon Streaming Service Announced ..... I'm sure we're interested..........

2019-09-18 Thread bencat

I have given this a trial and have to say the quality of the music is
excellent . Once you find the little widget that switches on the quality
information you can see the standard the track is recorded at the
standard your equipment can cope with and the quality of what is
actually playing . The price is at least reasonable and having compred
the CD quality tracks to my own CD Quality Flac rips of the same track I
have been unable to hear any noticable difference in any of them .

Only real issue that is likely to make me cancel at the end of the trial
is the fact that you can not get an APP/Plugin that will work with LMS
so that i can stream the music to all my systems rather than just to a
single one with a Fire TV box as the source as currently .

I would love Amazon to take this seriously and increase the appeal of
this to all those with current network systems or even if someone (much
brighter than I am) could develop a plug in but it does not look like
this will happen any time soon so will just have to enjoy for the 90
days.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Max2Play Webinterface for Mediaclients (Audioplayer, Squeezeserver, Airplay, XBMC)

2019-08-02 Thread bencat

Not sure if this is a set up issue on my part or a problem with the
software . So I will just detail the issue and see if anyone else has
had the same problem and if there is a simple issue . Just to start will
detail my system and how it is set up

LMS - Max2play Rpi4 Beta - Raspberry Pi 4 4GB
Player - JustBoom Digi - Raspberry Pi 3+
Player - HiFiberry Digi Pro - Raspberry Pi 4 2GB

Now in the past I have always used Max2play for LMS and then loaded the
players with Picoreplayer and this has worked . Having only newly added
the RPi 4 HiFiBerry player I decided to try out the Max2play install for
HiFiBerry . Everything loaded and this unit will be used as a player
only .Found the ISP got in to the Max2play set up pages and made the
name changes so it was easy to identify . Started it up and found it in
LMS started it playing a song mix but after about a minute the music
stopped and the player was no longer visible . Rebooted LMS and Pi ,
rebooted player and the same thing happened. Did a complete clean
install for the player but again the same thing kept happening.

I then tried loading Max2play for the Raspberry Pi 3 + using the
dedicated download and again usingin the install for JustBoom .
Activated the player and the same thing happened with this player work
and appear for about a minute then stop and the player lost from LMS .

All my players are wired ethernet connected so it was not that internet
was lost and even when they stopped I was able SHH into the players via
Putty .

As I was getting a little frustrated with this I loaded picoreplayer to
both using the Beta 6.0 and 5.1 respectively . Both these work and they
show up on LMS all the time . This solves my problems and if it stays
this way will not cause me any issues . However it would be nice to have
all the items using the same software .

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Max2Play Webinterface for Mediaclients (Audioplayer, Squeezeserver, Airplay, XBMC)

2019-07-29 Thread bencat

Okay have run the Beta Download for a few weeks now on my RPi 4 4GB and
the results have been excellent to say the least a couple of minor
hiccups which just needed a clean download none of which have ever
happened again . The music sound fantastic and the stability and speed
of LMS in this format is really very impressive . Using touch screen
players , apps and remote inputs form a pc all work very slickly with an
instant response .

Only issue I was having which has nothing to do with Max2play was that
my RPi 4 was running very hot . Even just idling it was at 70 and
playing on a single player would push this to 72/74 . Now the point at
which the CPU will throttle back is 80 and as far as I know this was
never reached . The makers of the Pi are aware of the overheating issue
and they issued a new firmware update which you can load using

sudo - apt-get update

sudo - apt-get dist-upgrade

Via SSH using Putty .

This did help a little and reduced the idle temperature to around 62 /
64 . Better but still a little too near the limit for me. I ordered a
Flirc case in April and it arrived today . Lovely smart solid case with
the main part an aluminium casting so strong and durable as well . Easy
to install just applying a heat paste patch to the CPU chip case insert
the plastic case bottom over the sd cardinput then drop the whole thing
in and secure with four screws , even this practical idiot was able to
complete with no problems .

I then rebooted the Pi waited for it to come on line and checked the
Settings / Reboot page and the temperature is now a stable 41 which is a
huge drop and gives me real peace of mind that my Pi will always be
working well within its specifications and performing just as it should.

the normal just add the new media was working . LMS has worked in
different systems in differnet rooms using Squeezelite through O2

issues . No drop outs no stops or pauses. Listened to hours of Random
Mix , Song mix plus at least two hours of Six Music Live with no issues
or problems .

Thank you Heiner this has been one of the easiest switches I have made
to date and the new Rpi 4 is fast and offers all the things you want for
an LMS server and more .

Glad things sorted out in the end . LMS has been working all day without
missing a beat and really happy . One possible issue is that every time
I add a couple of CD's and request LMS to read and copy just new files
it seems to go through a full rescan . Only happened today with two sets
of additions will see when I make my next upload of new music what
happens then report the issue if it persists.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Max2Play Webinterface for Mediaclients (Audioplayer, Squeezeserver, Airplay, XBMC)

2019-07-05 Thread bencat

I have downlaoded the new BETA image today and installed it in a
Rapsberry Pi 4 4GB unit . Download and flashing were all straight
forward with no issues . Having found the ISP for the RPi 4 was able to
open up the max2play inteface straight away . I would reccomend to all
before going any further SSH in to the Raspberry Pi (root - pi -
password - max2play) and cut and paste this to the action line

sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade -y

Even though I am sure Heiner has used the latest download he could there
are often nightly updates and it always helps to have the very latest
version of the os . Then using the max2play online page it is easy to
mount your USB drive , install and activate LMS and then go in and set
up your plugins and and changes to LMS that you favour. My Library is
50049 tracks and intial scan took just over 17 minutes which is a little
faster than the Pi3 + but not a huge amount .

After this it is all good so far music was playing within an instant
once I hit play LMS is now much faster and smoother and more responsive.
I may be mad but I also feel the sound has improved and sounds more
stable and solid but that could be me fooling myself but I will take any
sound improvement on music I can get .All things considered I must
congratulate Heiner I am sure there will be issues but for the main
thingh that I use this software for it has been a perfect performance up
to now . Music is playing as I type this and has been just playing
without issue for about an hour. I have used the following plu ins ,
Radio Paradise , BBC iPlayer Live Listen, Material Skin all without any
issues and so far working as they should.

I for one am delighted this has made the user perfomance of LMS as good
as I always wanted it to be and there may well be inprovements in this
as Heiner and others get to grips with all that the Pi 4 has to offer .

Thank you for the update on the Pi 4 from what I heard the speed of
delivery of this new model has caught out a number of regular users of
software for the Pi as you were not given any warning or details and in
many cases only got a new board to work with this week at the earliest .

As with the others here who use your current download on a Raspberry Pi
3+ as a simple LMS with attached USB HD for my Library I want to
hopefully see a quicker and smoother LMS from the new Pi 4 4GB unit but
will be patient and see what can be done as the new CPU on the 4 appears
to be very different .

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiplayer play it again list shows 404

2018-10-25 Thread bencat

I have not done this and it is a long overdue , thank to BPA and ronnie
for al the work and help they offer to many on here and other forums in
using the LMS and Logtitech related players . Without the general hard
work and willingness to get things fixed many of the plug ins (BBC ,
Spotify to name but two) would have gone and left lots of users very
unhappy . While some seem to feel the LMS is a poor piece of software I
know this to be wrong . Most of the problems that occur are caused by
Providers and not the software at all . Given that LMS is still a free
software the back up and work done on the nasic program and all plug ins
by various members makes this in my view the best supported Server
Software with real responsive and inclusive help not only fixing the
issue but letting you know what was the problem .

So better late than never - Thank you

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Radio Paradise Lossless Streaming (Plugin v2)

2018-03-09 Thread bencat

Morning

I have used the Flac stream for Radio Paradise almost daily and the
quality is excellent . There is the occasional missing album picture but
that is neither here nor there when you listen to the music. However for
some reason the stream has stopped . I use a Raspberry Pi running
Max2play LMS as the server and a Joggler 02 as the streamer with digital
out in to my normal DAC . I have the URL as noted on this thread in my
Squeezebox Favourites but also have the RP App loaded.

I can get the 320 KBS stream but nothing from the Flac steam either vai
the App or the My Squeezbox Favourite . Is this just a temporary hiccup
or are there new urls to use .
