Would the ('already built-in'

Airplay Receiver be a quick and easy solution? With Airplay Bridge
plugin installed on LMS it should instantly show up as a player.

Very odd.. I believe you, but I swear I had added it to my pinned item

definitely not 17 months. ;) But anyway:.

That would be great, thanks! Not sure how wavein works at that level,
but I do know that the trick I used to edit the local browser storage
works fine. I first pinned a random radio station, and then edited the
"http://; URL to the "wavin:sysdefault:etc". That works, so I assume
"wavin:" is used in the same way as "http:" urls..

The code in the materials.prefs files (note: I didnt change the id) is:

Code:

{"id":"https://icecast.**","title":"Record Player
USB","svg":"cd-player","isPinned":true,"url":"wavin:sysdefault:CARD=CODEC","menu":[0,5,3,-1,9,17],"weight":1}

Sorry, I found the location of that "settings file". It's in browser
local storage. A bit too fidgety to edit manually, and I'm not going to
do that in all browsers anyway..

But please tell me I'm not crazy, pinning to the homescreen from
favourites used to work for "wavin:.." url's as well up to a few weeks

If your device runs on Linux you should be able to install Lirc. Not
sure how easy it is in your specific setup to then control Squeezelite,
but using Lirc you should be able to control anything (including volume
of players) directly on LMS.

Alternatively, some remotes with a USB dongle (don't know about the
hifiberry one) emulate keypresses. If you can already control your
device with a keyboard, using a remote that works like that might just
be 'plug'.

Works for me, but I never use it. If you were to add an option to hide

So I tried updating Material in the Material interface, which simply got

The error message in the LMS log is this:

Code:

filehandle failed at /usr/local/slimserver/Slim/Utils/PluginDownloader.pm line
249.
  ; fh=Slim::Web::HTTP::ClientConn=GLOB(0x6536f18)

Using LMS 8.2.0 and the internet connection is fine.

Any suggestions? Fairly annoyed by having to use the classic interface
again, now that I uninstalled Material :(

Sorry, I live in Europe and my apartment is too small to have different

Nevertheless, I think that using the scrollwheel for anything that is
not scrolling is very 1995, and not compatible with touch screens and

There's a fairly large community of people here who use Pi's with
Squeezelite and LMS. And apart from the Pi's and the voluntary
contributions we make to the hardworking volunteers, there's also market
of hardware manufacturers building speakers that work well with them.
Additionally there are content providers, like Qobuz, that still allow
you to buy music while still paying a fair share to the artists. A very
different commercial model, but I personally like that much better than
the direction Apple has taken.

But LMS does seem to manage to keep up with the Raspberry world, which

I have six players, so often need to scroll. And while scrolling you
will of course always also hoover over the volume sliders... Luckily I
scroll down more than up, but still.

Again, it's not a big thing. Love the work you do providing this
interface, but if other people are having the same issue this might be a
thing to improve.

Sorry to hear that. I am a premium customer with Qobuz ("Hifi Sublime
Plus" in their own words) because they offer nice content and it
integrates well with my systems, based on software developed by
volunteers like you.. I do hope this was just a glitch and they get
their act together..

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin

2021-10-04 Thread jeroen2

Just a small little nuisance I have found in Material recently: When you
display the list of speakers with the volume sliders, it turns out that
the scroll wheel (or swiping the mouse on Apple hardware) actually
changes the volume in stead of scrolling up and down the list of
speakers.
Since I have at least three speaker sets connected to LMS that are all
powerful enough to wake up the neighbours (and I assume I am not the
only using it like that), I find that a little scary.. Would there be
any way to disable the mouse scroll changes volume behaviour in
Material?

Glad y'all having fun with this. :p Another useful addition for PcP

Code:

The Material menu can also be customised to meet your specific needs.
When I was new to LMS I also had to access the server settings all the
time, and added a menu item for "server settings classic" in the
actions.js, as outlined here:
https://github.com/CDrummond/lms-material/wiki/Detailed-Information
(Note to self: Now that I'm done tweaking I never use this anymore, so
may as well remove it)

I had considered Roon because it does look slick indeed, but decided
against it because I don't like subscription models. (though I am happy
to just pay for content and pay for software). But without Material skin
I probably wouldn't have opted for LMS either. Craig did a great job on

Works for me in Qobuz and Spotify (using Material skin, with the plugins
for those).

BTW, if you just take the album number (which is the same in both the

works.

The play url is when you use the webplayer in your browser. I think most
of the app is just a wrapper around that same interface.
Since I mostly play music through LMS on PcP, I hardly ever use the
Qobuz app. ButI do go the webplayer to explore and buy new music
sometimes.

Ah, thanks! It's the plus sign that brings up the "add URL" option, and
that works. Another useful new thing discovered.

It indeed works with "open.qobuz.com" url's and not with
"play.qobuz.com" urls. Slightly odd Qobuz thing though that the address
that starts with "open" does not seem to require a login as long as you
have the full URL. (sample: https://open.qobuz.com/album/3760127222682 )

Yes, the album number is the same. And it works when you attach the
number to this URL:
"http://yourpcpwithlms.local:9000/status.html?p0=qobuz=playalbum=;
It's just a bit cumbersome to do this manually every time..

Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but how does this currently work
for the open.qobuz.com URLs? You paste them in the search box?

Would be awesome if this could somehow work. Especially since the other
streaming options in the Qobuz app aren't that great (UPNP or Airplay).
But it's one of those "so close, but yet so far" things. I even tried
the Applescript/Automator route but that's just too slow to be of any
help..

You can also use the new Material functionality to pin it directly to
the homescreen. (1/ advanced search -> choose genre -> Save search as
Library view. 2/ select the library view in my music and do 'pin to
homescreen' for albums, artists or whatever you want. 3/ choose "Store

I just a different tab, and then have the remote switch tabs. The second
tab uses a static html page that only shows the cover art and updates
when the window has focus.

Code:

  margin-right: auto;

  background: linear-gradient(#707070, #292929);

  var window_focus;

  $(window).focus(function() {
  window_focus = true;
  }).blur(function() {
  window_focus = false;
  });

  $(document).one('click', function() {
  setInterval(function() {
  $('body').append('has focus? ' + window_focus + '<br>');
  location.reload();
  }, 1000);
  });

  http://YOURLMSSERVERVER.local:9000/material/music/current/cover?;
height=475px>

(image size is 475 tall, which works on a Pi 7" touchscreen, could be
different for your usage)

But would you do this for grouped players with linked volume only?
Otherwise it would just be a duplication of the players dropdown..
I always have six players synched, but all wit individual volume. I
usually change the volume by first switching the player for whatever
room I'm in, and then swipe up/down. But if that process would somehow
be streamlined a bit I would very much welcome that..

For my particular use case (if I were the only user of Material :p ) I
would have removed the volume slider completely and replaced it with a
button to go directly to the "manage players" layout..

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin

2021-02-02 Thread jeroen2

Since I've updated Material the volume swipe doesn't work anymore on my
Rapsbian-Touchscreen-Vivaldi browser (which runs in kiosk mode at the
heart of my LMS system).

Initially Material wasn't working at all in Vivaldi (I could browse and
select play, but it showed zero players, volume zero and empty
playlist). But an update of Vivaldi fixed that.. Then everything did
seem to work after both updates, but the volume swipe seemed to stop
every now and then. But since tonight the volume swipe doesn't work
anymore at all, ever... And there's nothing in the logs, which makes it
rather hard to debug..

On other browsers it does seem to work, so I guess I could switch, but I
kind of liked Vivaldi so far.. So I would appreciate any suggestions.

I don't think JiveLite does http (or allow browsing web content), so you
would first need to get a web browser running. This would a big thing on
pCP though, because you would of course also need to have some xsession
running.

If you do go that way (either on pCP or basing it on another platform)
it is really easy to add external links to the menu in LMS using the
Material skin. (see 'actions.json '
(https://github.com/CDrummond/lms-material/wiki/Detailed-Information)here)

I use Raspbian as the base platform for the one Pi that has a
touchscreen, because I prefer Material over JiveLite (although I do miss
those cute VU meters), but also to be able to easily display other info.

Yes, love that too. Total control of your music from anywhere, from any
device.

And I love the vertical swipe volume control too. That just feels so
natural that I now find myself frequently doing that in other apps as
well (where of course, it doesn't work..)

For me it takes about 5-10 seconds today. I've seen it being stuck
longer than that, but of course that's not happening now. :p

My impression is that it's mostly related to network speed. My router
doesn't like changes, but it usually gets stable and faster once all
devices have the same name, MAC and IP address for a couple of days

Happens to me quite often as well. Mostly when you power multiple
players off (powering on takes a bit more time, since the players need
to resync then). It doesn't seem to be a delay though, you really have
to close the menu and reopen for it to update.

I use that as well for one player (the PirateAudio one) which switches
off the backlight when squeezelite is powered off. But for the others I
mostly see the "power off" as a "stop synching" function. It stops the
player from streaming, but doesn't really change much else in the
physical power usage.. In the squeezelite/LMS universe "power off" seems
to be a bit of a confusing term, especially when using synched players.

What is relevant for connected powered speakers is the "close output"
setting. On my Hifiberry Digi it turns off the output on the SPDIF when
nothing is playing which then triggers my speakers to go to sleep.

Especially in urban environments Wifi is increasingly becoming an issue.

Yes, that would work and offer a lot of flexibility. If you plan to

That seems useful, but then when you select a library on the homescreen
what screen would follow? A revised homescreen? Or "my music" for that
library?

cpd73 wrote:
> When pinning a 'My Music' item with a library selected I guess I could

Would that selection then remain throughout the whole session/interface?

In that case it would work like this right?
1/ Create a Library for topgenre, selecting a number of subgenres.
2/ Click "pin to homescreen" on genres, with the option to save library
ID above.
3/ Rename "genres" on homescreen to name of topgenre.
4/ Repeat for all topgenres.

(I think this might run into trouble though when you get to step 4,
because genre (linked with the other library ID) is already pinned, so
it would only show the option to remove, not?)

Yes, it seems that the extra step would be to go to "my music" first and
then select the library through the button top right. With Multi Library
and Custom Browse it creates menu items that you can pin to the
homescreen directly.

Yes, I got that. Thanks. Maybe my use case is very specific. They way I
have been using Multi Library in combination with Custom Browse, I now
have 5 top level genres pinned to the homescreen (the top levels genres
are ste in Multi Library as a collection of 5 or 10 related genres, like
Classical Piano, Classical Bach, etc...) When I go to that top level
genre I can either go directly to all albums, or browse sub genres first
(using 'shallowgenre" from Custom Browse).

I would be happy to use any other tools available to achieve something
similar, but my main objective is to always reduce the number of choices
to something digestible. So I don't want more than about 50 albums per
genre, and I don't want to scroll through a super long list of genres
either.

It does work (even in LMS 7) but selecting this in Material is not very

Thanks, that does seem to work under classic UI as well, but the library
views are not showing in Material. Plus I don't seem to be able to do a
search for multiple genres, so that's not helping either...

Maybe I would need to use custom tags instead... Or tag my files with
multiple genres and then use Custom Browse to create the top level
menu..?

Given these remarks I would like to try the virtual library
functionality, but a little lost about where to start.. (can't find
anything under server settings) Do you have any suggestions?

Main thing I've been using multi-library for is to be able to group
genres. For example the genre "Modern" allows to find all releases
tagged in the genre "Modern", "Modern Glass", "Modern Ten Holt",
"Minimal", etc.. I'm assuming the new virtual library functionality
would allow me to do something similar, but where to start...?

I have issues with Qobuz as well sometimes, but assume it's a connection
issue (somewhere between them and me). It's usually the other way round
though: Stutters (and synchronisation issues between players) for the
first 30 seconds, after that it usually plays fine.

Streaming on my phone I have the same issue sometimes when streaming
high-res, switching to a lower resolution or MP3 usually fixes it there.

I am using Qobuz most of the time these days, always using Material, and
never seen this error.

It's good to know though that Qobuz only allows one device (stream) per
account so if you also have the app open on your phone or laptop you
might experience unexpected errors.

My first guess would be an issue with iPeng. Have you tried just using
the LMS webinterface (with Material skin) on the phone? You can add it
to the homepage, making it pretty much like an App. And you can then use
the swipe up/down for volume, which is pretty cool and practical.

You mean these? That's all Qobuz (curated) content. I hardly ever use
that on LMS, because it's nicer to use the Qobuz website to discover and
explore new content.

Ah, I see what you mean. But that's all Qobuz content, I rarely use that
in LMS anyway, because it's easier to browse in their website.

Though the plugin works well, the overall Qobuz integration isn't that
great yet. I might try to see if I can create a static HTML page with a
button and an iframe to wrap around their website. On clicking the
button it should transform the URL from the Iframe into a play command:
So this (in the iframe): https://play.qobuz.com/album/ktblascwxzntb
Sends this:
http://pidac:9000/material/status.html?p0=qobuz=playalbum=ktblascwxzntb
Would require some javascript work though, which I'm not good at..

On opening LMS I get a 404 on vue-virtual-scroller.min.js.map, line 0

When I then go straight from home into QOBUZ list view, it does this:

Code:

It's the same on mobile (iphone) and desktop (Safari). The "search" menu
line is clickable, but nothing happens. And nothing shows in the logs.
On the phone you can see that the menu item gets selected when you tap
it (turns light grey in the screen below), but no search box appears.

Just noticed I have the same issue since the upgrade to Material 2.0.
(it works on the homepage search, which is what I normally use).
In the Qobuz menu it also works when in Grid view, since that opens a
search prompt, but not in list view.

Attached below the code when I navigate from home (Qobuz is pinned) to
the Qobuz menu, which has the non-functioning search on top.

That's great, thanks. I had added a custom menu to show all PCP's as a
work around, but this is a great addition.

Also useful, but it only works in Desktop mode. Although the settings
you choose here also stick when switching back to Mobile, the button
isn't there anymore.
(I still prefer Mobile view on the 7" touchscreen)

We had a similar question in the Qobuz thread. "Browse by Work" might be
a useful work around here?
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?97146-Qobuz-com-streaming-plugin=991909=1#post991909
Since this is on Qobuz I can't see what fields are used for this. But I
do recall having some sort of subheadings between discs on multi-disc
albums in my regular library as well.

I suddenly noticed there's an option "browse by work" that shows up
above the track list. (first time I've seen that).
It seems quite useful, especially for a large set like this, but I still
think I'm not seeing everything.

Just getting back on this: would it be possible to have a URL shortcut
that would work like this?

Code:

I could just bookmark that and install it as an app on my phone..

Related to this I would like ti suggest a change to the player dropdown
in the top left. I always have all players synched, so the interface
where it gives the player name there doesn't really make any sense (all
players play the same anyway...) The only reason I sometimes switch
players in the interface is to change the volume in another room. That
can also be achieved through the "Manage players" menu, but that's all
the way at the bottom of the list of players..

So for me it would make much more sense if, in stead of having a player
dropdown there, it would simply be a button to go to the "manage
players" screen.

(to accommodate other use cases you could still have the name of the
active player there, but in stead of the dropdown list you would change
the active player through the "manage players" menu)

Curious what you think.

Yeps, only those. Everything else is perfectly fine. I'm on 7.9.1.
Assuming LMS doesn't do any caching (except for the cover art, maybe?),
it could be a browser thing. And given that I'm still working on setting
this system up, it could be all kind of server, DNS, versions, cookie,
caching issues..

Yes, no, and not that I know of.

Since I was getting curious I also checked it out on the Raspberry
touchscreen. Precise same issue there (Raspbian-XFCE4 with Vivaldi
browser).

What's a bit odd though, when I change the skin to Dark it is fixed, and
when I then change back to Mojave-Dark it is fixed there as well.. I'm
happy to help en check out different scenario's, but I'm really not sure

browsing.

Also I did that once and don't expect to have to be doing that again

This is Mojave Dark on Safari. Could be an issue on my side though, it
does look a little better on Firefox.

But like I said before, this is a total non-issue for me. Ideally I
shouldn't be using the server settings too often anyway, but for those
settings I do prefer functionality over design.

For the main user interface I can't imagine using anything but Material,
it's perfect for the Pi Touchscreen as well as for laptop and phones. It
looks nice while still being functional and super responsive - none of
the other systems I tried so far have that. My most favourite thing
about this Pi-based LMS system is to be able to just pick up any device
at hand to control it.

Sorry, that was badly worded, my apologies. I meant to say that I prefer
Classic skin for the server prefs. In Material it gets hard to access
with certain color schemes, so I just access it using
/Classic/settings/server/ in the URL through a bookmark.

So Material picked the best option to include. :-) But I still prefer
Classic for server settings, since it easier to read. (I'm using the
dark theme for material, which makes it hard to distinguish input boxes
and drop downs..). But that's fine for me though, I never change server
settings on the touch screen, and hope that once this project is
completely done I will hardly touch anything there anymore anyway...

Ah, not for me really. I think the current material is quite perfect.
:cool:

The only reason I use classic is for the settings. Material is more
touchscreen friendly (which is great), but some of the more complicated
settings work better in classic (and you wouldn't be messing with those
settings on a touch device anyways).

MultiLibrary can also only be accessed under "extras" in the classic
skin. (I use that plugin to group genres). But then I browse those
through Custom browse menu items pinned to the home screen (genre-albums
view mostly), so not a big deal.

Another specific Qobuz issue: They only allow streaming on one device at
