Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] MusicInfoSCR 4.3 - now with theOriginal Boom Booklet Layout

2021-08-17 Thread kidhazy

I know this is a long shot of a question, but has anyone ever seen a
screensaver similar to MusicInfoSCR, but also allows display of current
weather in one of the screen elements (similar to SuperDateTime) ?

I run multiple Booms, and often they're on a radio stream, so the
progress-bar options are a bit redundant, but wouldn't mind being able
to see current or forecast weather temp.

Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] MusicInfoSCR 4.3 - now with theOriginal Boom Booklet Layout

2021-06-29 Thread Michael Herger

If I include a custom font in my plugin that includes this character (I
really only need this 1 character) is it possible to display this
character on jivelite *without* installing a new font? Or was that only
a thing with the older Logitech devices (line display)?

Correct, the custom fonts as included in this plugin are for the old
ip3k based players (Boom, Classic, Transporter) only. The newer models
with color displays would need a different font installed on the device
itself. Custom fonts can be done their, but they must be done as
applets, rather than a plugin. I believe there's one in the current list
of add-ons for the devices, if you need inspiration.

Ralphy thinks it's not possible without installing a new font. What's
your take on this?

You can trust him when it comes to questions about Squeezeplay/JiveLite.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] MusicInfoSCR 4.3 - now with theOriginal Boom Booklet Layout

2021-06-29 Thread afriend

Michael,

I'm posting this question here because your plugin includes custom fonts
that allow you to use custom charcters on the display of some devices.
And since you're the LMS core developer I'm hoping for a final
possible/not possible answer.

I'd very much like to use the *blackstar unicode 2605 character* with my
plugin's default title formats.

Unfortunately jivelite's default font FreeSans doesn't include this
character. So it won't be displayed on pCP, Touch, Radio or anything
else using jivelite unless you install a different font that includes
this character (which probably hardly any user will do).

If I include a custom font in my plugin that includes this character (I
really only need this 1 character) is it possible to display this
character on jivelite *without* installing a new font? Or was that only
a thing with the older Logitech devices (line display)?
Ralphy thinks it's not possible without installing a new font. What's
your take on this?

Thanks.

2011-11-15 Thread SadGamerGeek

Hi Michael,

I started a new thread a few days ago about a sporadic problem I'm
having using MusicInfoSCR with TitleSwitcher:

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91416

After reading the previous page in this thread, it looks like I'm
getting exactly the same problem as wonder boy mentioned. It is fixed
by me going to the Player-MusicInfoSCR tab in the web browser (just
selecting the tab - no need to change anything).

It happens quite frequently to me but I'm not sure what pattern is yet.
My server is set to go to sleep with no activity so it might relate to
coming out of hibernation.

Is there anything I can do to help analysis of the problem?

Hmm... interesting. Might be the formats get re-initialized when going to
the config page.

Only after a restart, or every now and then even without?

It definitely seems to happen after the server wakes from sleep. I
think it might happen other times, but I'm not absolutely sure of
this

Unfortunately yes, you're wrong. That configuration is being used while
scrolling through the current playlist (the list of tracks queued up to be

 Use custom fonts in MIS instead: tell it not to use SC's settings.
 You'll then be able to configure any of the left/center/right times

AH! finally found the thread for this plugin. I've been using it both on
my SB3 and my Boom for several weeks now and it works great, so thanx a
lot for your work :-)

I have two small questions though :
-Do you have any plans to add the alternate volume display to the Boom
too ? it looks so much better than the default one !
-Is there a way to replicate the Jump to Now playing behaviour while
using MusicInfoSCR ? It can be confusing when the current track is
being displayed, and you press down or right (to see the next track or
the details of the current one) and you end up in the middle of the
settings or favourites menu ^^;

2009-03-03 Thread jwedwards

Michael

Thanks for your great work on Music Info Scr. Do you have any plans to
implement multiple MIS screensavers? I can see several needs for this.

Firstly, for the various music sources not all the information is
relevant or necessary so you may want to have one screensaver for your
Music Library, another for Internet Radio, another for Podcasts etc. so
these would need to be linked to the music source somehow.

Another reason for multiple screensavers would be: when I have my SB
Boom on my desk, I am close enough to it to read the 3-line display and
have some detailed information but in another room, it's too small to
read from a distance so I would like to switch to a larger, less
detailed display.

Cheers,

John

 Firstly, when displaying the animated sleep icons on a SB3 (not tested

 other times work fine.

Could you please describe how you get in that situation?

 Secondly, I listen to a lot of Internet radio streams, and I use the
 'kbps' option in your plugin. On some stations, I get valid info, but
 on others (particularly BBC iPlayer stations) it displays '0kbps'. I
 appreciate that this info may not be available, but perhaps '-kbps' or
 some alternate may be more appropriate in these situations?

Oh well, I think 0 or - don't make that much of a difference, do they? :-)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] MusicInfoSCR 4.3 - now with theOriginal Boom Booklet Layout

2009-01-12 Thread Chippy

 Could you please describe how you get in that situation?

In the MusicInfoSCR plugin settings, I've selected to display the
'sleep' icon in the top right hand corner of my SB3, and I've also
chosen to 'animate' the icon. (I'm not at home at the moment - let me
know if I need to be clearer on these setting details).

Then, I push the 'sleep' button on the remote a number of times to
select a sleep time for the SB3. If I select 15, 30 or 45 minutes, the
icon appears and alternates every second or so with an icon that
includes small circle. If I select 60 minutes, the icon without a
circle appears and then disappears every second. It's as if the '60
minutes' sleep icon with the circle is not included in the plugin.

Using a Mac (OS X 10.5.6) running SC 7.3.1

 Oh well, I think 0 or - don't make that much of a difference, do
they? :-)

Fair enough :)

Ok, got it. Ha! That's an odd issue... I've been using that custom font of mine
to display thos icons. And I've been doing so without paying any attention to
some of the meanings of those characters. Turns out the one which I use for the
missing icon is reserved for some special task in SC's display control,
therefore can't be displayed. I'll have to rebuild the plugin with new artwork.
Might take a while till I find the time to do so, I'm sorry.

Thanks for the heads up! This fix will be in the next release, promised :-)

That's the plan, the feature. It's the reason for all the issues we've seen.

Michael, a silly question: Is it possible that this fix is not
available for the Boom? My SB3 has no problems anymore (running 4.3.3

Typically i'd assume that this must be a software setting but i can't
find any differences between my SB3 and the Boom (in the MIS settings

2008-11-17 Thread Michael Herger
 1. I enter Plugins::MusicInfoSCR::Info::getFormatString with
 $formattedString set to TITLESWITCHERALBUMARTISTTRACKSTATRATING

Very likely a similar issue to what you've reported last time: my regex is
a bit too simplistic.

 Code:

  my $albumOrArtist = ($formatString =~ /(ALBUM|ARTIST)/i);

Please change this regex to /\b(?:ALBUM|ARTIST)\b/i and try again.

 3. Finally it enters the if statement for $albumOrArtist and when it
 reaches the following row the * in my format string is changed to
 an empty string.

Oops... cleaning up too aggressively :-/.

 I'm not sure if the problem is the regular expression in step 1 or the
 replacement regular expression in step 3. It works correctly as long as
 I don't have the word ALBUM or ARTIST in the title format name.

It's the combination. The cleanup was intended to remove excessive
characters from some radio stations, which tend to keep the display
scrolling nonsense characters forever.

Michael, I've problem with title formats that contains ARTIST or ALBUM
in the name.

This is what happens:
1. I enter Plugins::MusicInfoSCR::Info::getFormatString with
$formattedString set to TITLESWITCHERALBUMARTISTTRACKSTATRATING

The result of this is that the following row thinks this is an album or
artist:

Code:

  my $albumOrArtist = ($formatString =~ /(ALBUM|ARTIST)/i);

2. The formattedString returned from the following row might be
*:

Code:

  $formattedString = Slim::Music::Info::displayText($client, $song,
$formattedString);

3. Finally it enters the if statement for $albumOrArtist and when it
reaches the following row the * in my format string is changed to
an empty string.

Code:

  $tmpFormattedString =~ s/\W//g;

I'm not sure if the problem is the regular expression in step 1 or the
replacement regular expression in step 3. It works correctly as long as

Okay, i won't do it again, promised :-) this player-plugging thing is
just for the sake of simplicity. The real case is, some of my players
are connected over the internet/dsl+vpn and once a day (usually at
night) the ISP drops the connection. It takes a moment until the VPN
Tunnel has been reestablished, but it's sufficient to trigger the
problem.
This probably applies equally to all those users who power off their
players completely...

thanks (as always :-)

i read your comment but it didn't fix my problem. But while tracking
down another 'problem'
(http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=9931) i realized those two
issues are related, at least about how to reproduce them. In this case.

- play some local or remote track = buffer is updated properly
- remove power from the SB for a few minutes (at least as long until
it's been removed from SC's active player list)
- power on the SB
- play some local or remote track = no more updates to buffer

system: SC7.3r23916, MIS 4.3.2

Are you able to reproduce this?

thanks,
Markus

 Michael, this patch seems to solve the problem I had with using the
 text PLAYLIST in my title formats.

Thanks for testing.

 By the way, in the Classic skin I've noticed that you need to hit Save
 Settings once in the Music Information Screen settings page before
 you can actually change which title format you like to show. Nothing

This very likely is due to the fact that the Classic (and Fishbone, EN etc.)
skins dynamically update the page without a full reload. This means JS isn't
loaded. Will have to see how this can be worked around.

 EG.
 PLAYLISTDYNAMIC work or not?

I think it fails if it contains a keyword that is registered as a
separate title format.

These doesn't work:
PLAYLISTDYNAMIC
DYNAMICPLAYTIME_ALWAYS
DYNAMICPLAYLIST2

These works:
DYNAMICPL
DYNAMICPLAY2LIST

Yes, I get:

Code:

  [08-11-04 19:12:20.7233] Plugins::MusicInfoSCR::Settings::getCustomItems
(181) Got item 'DYNAMICORSAVEDPLAYLIST' for 'Plugins::DynamicPlayList::Plugin'

It's never called for my formats, it's called for PLAYTIME_ALWAYS and
NOTESYMBOL.
It is called if I rename the format to DYNAMICPL

 Using SS 7.2.1. How did you make it work?

I removed the bad plugin directory (the one with the version),
restarted SC, installed the plugin from scratch from the zip file,
restarted SC, made sure the plugin was enabled, and then went to the
preferences screen.

2008-11-03 Thread erland

Michael, do you have any idea why it works to return a format from the
getMusicInfoSCRCustomItems callback in my plugin that is called
DYNAMICPL but it doesn't work to return a format called
DYNAMICPLAYLIST ?

It seems like if the format contains PLAYLIST somewhere in the format
name it is ignore and the _MIS_CUSTOM_123456789012DYNAMICPLAYLIST string
is displayed instead of the real value provided by my plugin. I never
get any call to my registered callback function. If I change the format
name to DYNAMICPL everything works again.

The getMusicInfoSCRCustomItems method looks like this:

Code:

  sub getMusicInfoSCRCustomItems {
my $customFormats = {
'DYNAMICPLAYLIST' = {
'cb' = \getTitleFormatDynamicPlaylist,
'cache' = 1,
},
'DYNAMICORSAVEDPLAYLIST' = {
'cb' = \getTitleFormatDynamicPlaylist,
'cache' = 1,
},
};
return $customFormats;
  }

 Note the blank menu item which appears to be for this plugin. You can't
 see because the drop down is open, but behind it there are 3 selections
 showing on, off, on, but no text to the left of these options
 describing what they are.

This looks as if the installation was corrupt. Do you see a strings.txt file in
the MusicInfoSCR folder?

Yes, in server\Plugins\MusicInfoSCR-4.3.2\MusicInfoSCR. Looking at this
I'm wondering if I shouldn't have the MusicInfoSCR-4.3.2 directory.
Could that be the problem?

Yes, there's something wrong. It should only be
Plugins/MusicInfoSCR/strings.txt, no MusicInfoSCR-4... in between.

Thanks from a newbie :)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] MusicInfoSCR 4.3 - now with theOriginal Boom Booklet Layout

2008-10-31 Thread jehma

I'm a brand-new Squeezebox Boom owner. I installed your screensaver and
even managed to change the elapsed time to time remaining in the
display. However, it took me a while to find the preferences screen for
this because some of the text is blank - including the name on the menu!
Take a look at the attached screenshot. This happens in IE or FF so
perhaps it's a font issue, but I can see everything else in the SC UI.

Note the blank menu item which appears to be for this plugin. You can't
see because the drop down is open, but behind it there are 3 selections
showing on, off, on, but no text to the left of these options
describing what they are.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
