Just another here who has not received any email since I pinged you via email back on 7/31/2018 (you responded). Still interested in the beta when it starts. Alexa for music blows chunks. Therefore I use it relatively little to almost never for music except for quick fixes with TuneIn. Would love to start up the Squeezeboxen from across the room. Quick update Alpha v0.2.1.3 was released over the weekend and the test volunteers are currently picking it apart for bugs. Main new feature is the ability to list and load favorites and playlists. Users can now also adjust volume by 'a bit'. After squashing a few bugs arising and adding a couple of minor new features, we'll be moving on to what will hopefully be the final Alpha which will include the ability to search for and play tracks/albumbs/artsist/genres by name. Thanks for the insights. Interesting.
As it happens, I'm using the (relatively) new AMAZON.SearchQuery slot
and it's excellent at picking up odd track and band names ('Hootie and
the Blowfish' is my current test and Alexa picks that up perfectly).
However, it's one step up, two steps back. It turns out you cannot
combine a SearchQuery slot with a custom slot. So I cannot implement a
natural phrase like;

As I cannot include the device name / location slot along with the
SqearchQuery slot. I understand why, but it's frustrating :-(

The first told me to call him some time to chat about the issue (I didn't bother) and the second a month ago explained that basically Alexa teams and builds are entirely independent across countries, so the fact that it's been in the US beta for this long but nowhere else is not promising. He also said, don't worry too much about what built-in intents and in particular their slots can and can't hold and that home-made slot types with lots of data are not far off. Follow the instructions here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2Q0s9o_Hd0 Check the url for the audio file to "https://localhost:9000/stream.mp3;. Remember your LMS must be behind https. http will not cut it. Local host has to be changed - I used IIS with a reverse proxy. Alexa does not support all audio formats so may sure you only play what is supported. After this you can control the audio played to Alexa just like any other SB - but I am sure someone will join the parts together..if only I had more time. I have created a standard account on the hab-tunes.com website but cannot see where to download the software for the Squeezebox media server? I have also found another hab-tunes login (https://habtunes.eu.teamwork.com/launchpad/login) but my account wont work on this site (and there isnt anywhere to register). The open end just passes packets to the other end - so essentially to secure the open end you secure this end. stunnel doesn't mandate what passes over the tunnel once it's been established, it is not a firewall it is just a tunnel. While waiting for hab-tunes I have been experimenting with controlling LMS using the harmony hub and Alexa. Works pretty well using the Harmony skill. Just say Alexa, turn on squeezebox to run the activity and play, pause and next when you want to skip a song. I cannot for the life of me get volume control to work via Alexa/Harmony though. I received a response to my inquiry about joining the Beta on Jan 9th, so it looks like he is still working on it. He added me to the list and said that it would be available shortly. Hi All Don't give up just yet! It's been oh so quiet on the Alexa dev. front of late due to other work stuff taking up a lot of time. I know I've been saying that for a while but it's true! I still need to finish out the feature set for the established Alpha test group. I'm not taking anyone new into that group at the moment as I want the people who are familiar with the skill and plugin to help finish it out (ie I don't want to spend time right now going over basics with new testers). Once we get the alpha working, I'll be opening up to a wider beta group with a view to improving stability and getting language versions back on track. I'm heartened by the number of people who've been contacting me seeking access to the test phase. There's obviously an appetite within the SB community for this kind of add on. If you want to get involved in the upcoming beta, send me a PM here or email to admin at hab-tunes dot com. Hi Simon Thanks for the feedback. The plan is for V1 to be the features you have right now PLUS the ability to load favourites and playlists by name. Once those new commands are available, we'll be moving to Beta testing, getting some new testers involved, addressing the DE language version which has fallen behind a little and fixing any bugs that arise. Once that's all ready, we'll submit for Amazon certification and run that particular gauntlet. Once published for Amazon Echo, I'll be doing a version for Google Home. With all that done, I'll then start working on V2 which will include support for synching and groups, loading content by artist/album/track name or genre and possibly other features as they are requested. One of the key blockages to having artist/album/track requests right now is that Amazon have a beta library that supports this natively but it's only available for US skills right now. I'm waiting for that to be available for UK and DE as well because there's no point in trying to implement our own version which would be far inferior. In other news, I really haven't been able to dedicate time to this recently. We've stalled a bit because of that but I am inching forward and will be getting those new features out and commencing Beta just as soon as I can. Got this working today and its pretty good. I'm not sure if I am meant to mention here or in the teamworks. Wondered if syncing/unsycing of players and whole groups will be an option in the future. Also will we be able to ask it to play albums or songs from our library eventually. I imagine the later to be rather difficult to implement. Hi meep, I don't have a dot, but I am trying the reverb app on my iPad air 2 and it is registered as a device for the iOS Alexa app. Currently I just use it with Amazon music, but I'd like to control my squeezebox server by voice.
