While I enjoy access to all that music that I don't own, with Tidal (using the tidal app on android and lms connect) I have to scroll though all sorts of music I am not interested in. I have to scroll way down to get to "because you have listened to..." :) which are the last 2 or 3 rows before the end! I have been thinking of giving Deezer a go as an alternative to Spotify. According to my settings, I have the Deezer plugin installed but I do not see any sign of it in the UI. For example, Spotty appears under My Apps on the Web UI but I have never seen anything related to Deezer. Is there something I need to do to enable it? BTW I do not have a Deezer account yet. Spotify are worse than Amazon when it comes to cancelling. You need to click cancel on three different pages. After the second one you think cancellation is complete but no you are taken to another page listing all the plans with a "Confirm cancellation" at the bottom of the page which you don't see unless you scroll down. I used to justify sticking with Spotify on the grounds that I buy a lot of music as download, vinyl and occasionally CD and that in some way my contribution to the artists I like made the low streaming payout from Spotify OK. But the Rogan situation made it clear to me that Spotify is no longer a music streaming platform. Still, better late than never. Enjoying Qobuz. Nice to be using a streaming platform that also sells downloads. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alternatives to spotify / spotty?
Jaca, that's interesting. Now I see that I can indeed add folders to Spotify's Playlists! In the official Spotify app on my desktop Mac, if I right-click on an existing Playlist in the sidebar on the left, there's an option to Create Folder, which I'd completely missed. It's easy from there to make folders and sub-folders and organise stuff in a way that (for my purposes, at least) is much more efficient. Good! I can then see the new folders I've made in LMS in a browser UI on the same desktop, rather more usefully in Material than the regular skin. But neither seems to allow me to make new folders. And in iPeng on my iPhone, again any new folders made on the Spotify app are now visible but there's no obvious way (to me) to make new ones there. Sorry if this is a touch off-topic here. Later, when/if the dust settles on the Spotify debate, I'll maybe make a new thread about the folder business. whitman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9053 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115850 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Thanks to everyone here - all your solutions were helpful, and then a hard reboot of the desktop (twice: who knows?) and restarting everything has made Tidal show up and is now streaming. It first showed up on the Android phone via Squeezer, then on the handheld Controller, but LMS wasn't showing ANY of My Apps, not even BBC or Spotty or Bandcamp. Second reboot of the desktop and it's streaming away fine. Just by coincidence :) it happens to be Neil Young... Now to move all those Spotify lists. Thanks again everyone here for very erudite help. I have been very happy with Qobuz for my listening. Stream with FLAC and have no problems and recent changes in the plugin make it much easier to save favorites. Spotify is, unfortunately becoming another 'media' company (as opposed to concentrating on music) and aimed at a different crowd. ericj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3230 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115850 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alternatives to spotify / spotty?
In case Julf did not already find this, you go on squeezebox.com to get the Tidal app. You need a squeezebox.com account, and Tidal is under "App Gallery". Re Spotify alternatives, and at the risk of angering the open-source gods, I note that if you have an Apple device you can stream Apple Music to your Squeezebox/LMS devices using Phillipe's Shairtunes plug-in. It is the same monthly price as Spotify, and it is lossless quality, similar to Tidal. Obviously, Apple Music does not "integrate" into LMS as Julf asked, but the Apple Music stream played through Shairtunes does display the album art and track info in LMS, and you can use the volume and pause, forward and back controls in LMS. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alternatives to spotify / spotty?
I've been meaning to move from Spotify for some time now (the cash flow issue*), and the latest rumpus has nudged me to start the process. I have decided to give Qobuz a whirl (I already have an account for buying downloads). I've transferred a few playlists and the albums in my Spotify 'library' to Qobuz. Quite pleased so far. I don't really have any interest in resolutions above red book standard, but all is good, obviously there are albums on Spotify that aren't on Qobuz, but since my primary music listening is done from my local library that doesn't matter too much. I can make the final decision whether or not to jump fully to Qobuz sometime in February - I have a 1 month free trial of Qobuz which more or less overlaps with my current month of Spotify Premium. * To be honest, I am not too worried about how much of my Spotify subscription has gone to artists because if I like something on Spotify, I buy it as a download, on vinyl or (occasionally on CD). And I contribute quite a lot to artists that way. Wanted to quit Spotify for long time. Apart of fact they pay artist peanuts (which should be enough good reason to not use them) I remember theirs treatment of squeezebox community after dropping official support and calling my ecosystem " your squeezebox smartspeaker" and advising me to replace it with Spotify Connect devices.. I guess recent podcast drama is final straw for me.. I have actually already cancelled my premium although got another 3 weeks left. I am new to Tidal, on a trial, a couple random thoughts: 1) If you use android, the simple android app "lms connect" is wonderful for using the Tidal android app for your UI, and sharing your selection to the Tidal plugin: https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?114611-Announce-LMS-Connect-streaming-Tidal-Qobuz-to-LMS-via-native-Android-apps I really struggles trying to use the lms plugin as the UI (Of course, I probably didn't know what I was doing :) ) 2) I am not sure about your location, but here in the US, the "holiday trial" of 3 months for $1 (HiFi) or $2 (HiFi+) is still available: https://tidal.com/offers/holiday-2021 My early observation is there is allot of current music genres that I am not really interested in, but once you start listening to what you are interested in, there are allot of relevant suggestions and curated playlists.
