OK, the modified discovery code is live and should now handle
non-Logitech players automatically. Don't disable or re-link or
whatever, just say "Alexa, discover devices" and hopefully all 20 of
your players will now show up.

That must be very frustrating. I had a sudden idea that it might be
because the 'state' query-parameter string that Amazon uses during
account linking is using weird characters that I was stripping in my
oauth server. I've changed the code to accept the state as-is. Can you
please make another attempt to link?

I fixed the plugin quickly because I use it daily - selfish but
thankfully everyone benefits .

I added the genre " Comedy panel shows" because for some reason the
"panel shows" are no longer included in the top level Comedy genre.

I think your memory is short.
For "Listen Again" AlienBBC was a screen scraper - and regularly had to
be updated as BBC changed the web interface. So nothing has changed in
15 years - it is not a new direction. BBC create a special 7 day Listen
Again feed which they have continued with a few hiccoughs which seemed
to be due to side effects rather than a policy of killing off the feed.
I believe this feed is used commercially and so it will not be
terminated abruptly.

To get away from screen scraping Extra used unofficial APIs which BBC
said would end in 2015, so Extra is just turning going back to its
roots.

> I'm thinking of ordering a pi Codec (as opposed to a DAC) I'm sure I can

There is no indication that BBC will stop live internet streams. If
you mean by a codec something like a FM/DAB/DVB-S/DVB-T receiver. I have
done test of interfacing all these to LMS. Audio quality is much less
that UK quality feeds and metadata is worse.

Extra functionality will be interrupted if BBC stop/change the browser
interface - if terminated then EXtra may have to try to use the Sounds
app feeds.

That would be a shame. IIRC It is an old feed, one BBC would like to
remove as there are indications it is maintained by a 3rd party. Cost
cutting ?

Extra uses this feed as a starting point for the station only menus.
Not the end of the world just it would mean going back to the AlienBBC
roots of screen scraping.

Alright, got it working on a raspberry pi 4 with raspbian buster lite

expected of course. And plenty of ram left. 4 GB is really overkill.
But, I'm gonna install some more programs on it.
Would it work to install Kodi alongside it? And output sound through the
same hdmi cable. Or maybe I should buy a second hdmi cable for the other
port.

Thanks for your answer! I tried the Proxy options already but for the
Boom, it didn't change a thing. I'll have a look on my Pi/Max2Play and
try to find that folder. Last time I had a look, I found a convert file
but in another folder...

Regarding the custom file, 2 questions:
- do I only need to create a notepad file with the code inside:

flc flc * *
[sox] -q -t flac $FILE$ -t flac -

- I understand that * could be replaced with the type of player, right?
And if yes how shall I do that (mac address? Type of player?), knowing I
would like to apply conversation to my Radios and Booms only.

Thx!!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Success: MusicIP and Spicefly Sugarcube running on Raspberry Pi

2020-01-26 Thread Wirrunna

Frankd, slartibartfast and CypherMK,
What is the starting point for getting this going ? Obviously a running
version of LMS on a RPi is needed, but what are the recommendations ?

May I suggest an addition to "the first post" to include something along
the lines of :

Prerequisites for running MusicIP with LMS on a RPi
Recommended Hardware - RPi 4 - 4Gb, 64Gb SD card, FLIRC case .
OS - Download Raspbian buster lite from
https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/ and install it.
LMS - Download Debian Installer Package (ARM) from
http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.9 <<-- ??? Is that the
right version ?
Follow instructions from ? to install and get LMS running.

I presume because you switched back on the dodgy players again? If
they're off, the rest should still be discoverable. Any of them being on
causes the issue (still).

Well, potentially the Max2Play installation had also not implemented the
256MB boot partition and I was lucky doing it myself after monitoring
the general raspberry upgrade talks to increase the boot partition
size
The upgrades first write all the new files into the boot partition, then
configure them and finally remove all the old ones - if you have too
little space on the boot partition this call for trouble...

Concerning the update issues:
did you resolve them?
I updated all my packages today with my own manual upgrade from stretch
to buster of Max2Play and had no issues. However looking at all the
packages and activities which had been updated in paticular for the boot
partition (e.g. overlays) I have a suspicion:
If you upgrade from jessy to stretch and you will not change the

trouble with all the boot partition changes.
For changing the partition size of the SD Disk I had to use the paragon

partition sizes...
I recomment to change the partition sizes, as the standard Raspian
distribution assumes this sizes and will use the additional space in
near future for drivers and overlays...

Yes, I believe it is fixed.

Suggestion: It appears you do the fade-out and fade-in using 10 steps? I
think that is good for fade-in, but I suggest taking longer to do the
fade-out, maybe 20 or 30 steps.

Example use: I think it would be less distracting in a quiet or dark
room. I often start a playlist when going to sleep such as Lazy Jazz Cat
on Spotify, (my significant other likes to listen to music while going
to sleep,) and I set the sleep timer to 30 minutes in material. Now
after the time has expired and the music has stopped, the screen will
gently fade out to the screensaver showing the time.

Thanks Michael for picking this up :-)
When I go to player setting in the web gui and I go to don't stop the
music, I have the option to select musicIP, Lastmix, Random xxx and all
the other opportunities of online services, but not a way to switch on
and off spicefly sugarcube. It would be great to have there a spicefly
sugarcube option as well . Not sure if CParker has to implement it (my
guess) or if it is core to LMS

To answer your 2nd question first - yes, it has to be https. That
(luckily) is a basic Amazon requirement for all skills.

What might help me is if you link the skill from a PC instead of from a
phone, using say Chrome. When you click on enable skill, the URL in the
browser bar should be a smartskills.tech URL with a big query string. If
you can PM that to me it would help. Also, when you've submitted and the
shows, the URL of the failure page which starts with
https://skills-store... would also be useful to have so I can look at
the query strings.

The error is not related to your using ngrok. I bet if you try to link
the skill using e.g. https://google.com as URL and with an empty
username and password, it still won't link (you''ll be warned that this
URL does not seem to be an instance of LMS, but it will still link OK).
This is somehow related to people's Amazon accounts. The exact same code
runs for everybody. Somebody else trying the exact same ngrok tunnel
details as you would have success in linking. It's a really strange one,
this.

Maybe disabling the skill and re-enabling would help, given that that
will clear out all your old account data.

Is this file still available somewhere?
Currently installing this on a raspberry pi 4 with raspbian buster lite.

Memory gets shorter by the day for me.

BBC stopping the live streams was my concern but I also saw a chance to
learn about a pi-Codec (IQ Audio pi-Codec) which together with pCp could
be used to feed in any analogue signal (say from a High Quality FM
Tuner) to the LMS system. I know the quality wouldn't be quite as good
as 320kbps aac but it wouldn't be that bad. I do live in Sutton
Coldfield.

Like I said in the first line of my post I'm always impressed, but I'm
always grateful too.
