It's not useless. The dots only appear on mobile, where there is no
scrollbar - hence it allows quick jumping.

I take your point about the links but aren’t these same IDs used in the

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin

2020-02-05 Thread Ron F.

I have a question concerning a minor issue:

When using Material on my phone running Android 10, I have noticed that
on some dispays, such as "New Music" that I get a column of dots instead
of numbers and letters that I can use to navigate the display more
quickly. When this navigation column is rendered only as dots from top
to bottom, it is useless and just takes up screen space. When this is
the case, would it be possible to not display it?

I note that this behavior occurs in most but not all browsers I have
tested: Chrome, Vivaldi, Opera, Kiwi, Duckduckgo, but surprisingly in
Fully-Kiosk this column is drawn correctly: it is only drawn when it is
going to be useful. Strange - is this something that is purely under the
control of the browser, or could Material control it's appearance?

Sync algorithm are touchy things, especially as it would require
modifying some of LMS's internals. I don't know if the best would be to
create a "fake" player (like I did for my Groups plugin) and make it the
master or a group or just let Shairtunes guide the modified sync
directly, options would have to be explored so yes there is a fair bit
of try and error involved. Remember as well that you need to start at
the exact right time (as required by AirPlay) *and* maintain the sync
per RTP's control, these are 2 different difficulties. Long story short,
it's unlikely measured in hours but in days.

The playlist contains several short tracks (~1:30). If the iPeng player

track 4 will start playing but the playback will jump back to track 6
again after some time.

BoomX2,

I just happened to visit the BETA forum and found some interesting
information. Some users were having problems with Tidal, and some other
addons, with the newer versions of LMS8; the same nightlies that have
been causing me problems. Michael Herger suggested that they check the
box for "Insecure HTTPS" in Settings/Advanced/Security and it cured
their problems. I tried it with the latest LMS8 nightly and no longer
show the "?" and all of my other display items are back! I will continue
to use the latest LMS8 nightlies until something else happens to make
LMS8 unworkable.

Thanks again,

Had to pick one. Changed for 1.4.0 - On mobile devices, only shown if; a

At some point I was investigating an issue which sounded similar as

more than one track. And I believe that's something LMS doesn't handle

Not sure, tbh. But the message you posted previousl point into a totally

OK, now something that at first looks similar happened while streaming
from Qobuz to a player on my laptop, gmediarender, I came to the end of
a track, and the track time remaining began flashing "-00:00" as I have
seen happen with Spotty. LMS began giving the following error message
repeatedly:

[22:06:56.051327] XMLGetFirstDocumentItem:182 (BUG)
ixmlNode_getFirstChild(tmpNode) returned NULL
[22:07:00.984111] XMLGetFirstDocumentItem:182 (BUG)
ixmlNode_getFirstChild(tmpNode) returned NULL
[22:07:06.024427] XMLGetFirstDocumentItem:182 (BUG)
ixmlNode_getFirstChild(tmpNode) returned NULL

As soon as I hit the "Next track" button, it proceeded onward like
nothing had happened. I am using the very latest Git versions of
everything: LMS v8.0, Spotty, Qobuz, Material, etc.

The order does not affect the links. Each type, artist, album, composer
is handled by a different function. This would not change no matter the
order.

Feel free to email, address is in all the Material source files. But, as
stated before, all I do is:

- When clicking on an album ask LMS to list tracks for
  'album_id:ITEMS_ALBUM_ID'
- When clicking on a composer, ask LMS to list albums using
  'artist_id:ITEMS_ARTIST_ID' and 'role_id:COMPOSER'
- When clicking on a artist, if item in Queue as 'artist' and
'artist_id' then ask LMS to list albums using
'artist_id:ITEMS_ARTIST_ID'. If item in Queue as 'trackartist' and
'trackartist_id' then ask LMS to list albums using
  'artist_id:ITEMS_TRACK_ARTIST_ID' and 'role_id:TRACKARTIST'

All i can do is act upon the IDs supplied. However, I'm seriously
considering just removing these links. So much hassle for a feature I
never use.

1.4 installed from git this morning.

Links in the Queue (Desktop)

This may have something to do with the non links. I think that you have
changed the display order in the Queue and Now Playing from Artist to
now be Composer * Artist and not in line with Plugin Settings or the
previous documentation.

per my User Guide

Examples
Since the Classical genre is listed in both fields the Queue and Now
Playing areas will show Artist * Composer * Conductor * Album if those
tags exist in the LMS database,
As Jazz is only shown in Composer genres the Queue and Now Playing areas
will show Artist * Composer * Album if those tags exist in the LMS
database
If a tracks' genre does not appear in either field then Artist * Album
will appear

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] No output Raspberrypi zero W with Google voicehat

That is probably just the audio output side. Look at all of the other
"aiy" drivers loaded, I assume some of those is for audio input. Where
did you get the drivers to install on Rasbian?

Latest version of 1.4 has fixed the New Music issue referred to
earlier.
I will come back to you about the links in Queue after some testing.

According to github, the change was made about 5 months ago - can't
remember exactly why, but your suggested reason makes sense. Personally
I use neither composer nor conductor, so does not affect me. AFAIR,
conductor was never shown - only composer. 'Conductor Genres' is only
used to know when to list the 'Conductors' entry under a genre.

I remember testing it thoroughly in 1.2 before writing in the User
Guide

Examples
Since the Classical genre is listed in both fields the Queue and Now
Playing areas will show Artist * Composer * Conductor * Album if those
tags exist in the LMS database,
As Jazz is only shown in Composer genres the Queue and Now Playing areas
will show Artist * Composer * Album if those tags exist in the LMS
database
If a tracks' genre does not appear in either field then Artist * Album
will appear

I'd ask you to revert the change as I think it is adversely affecting
links in the queue and for a non Classical user its complete nonsense.
I suppose if "they" are insistent you could have an additional selection
option in the Plugin Settings area that switches between Artist &
Composer as array item 1.

That aside there are definitely some "link" anomalies occurring when an
Artist has albums in both FLAC and MP3 format. I think I will gather
together some example tracks and post them to you as this isn't actually
an Online Integration issue it actually exists on my Production Server
with 1.3.1 as well. Have you got a dropbox or can I email a small Zip?

Testing is in progress... I guess I have to ask - why would a large
buffer size matter?

When did you change that?

Classical was Artist - Composer - Conductor
Jazz was Artist - Composer
Other genres not listed in either box e.g. Rock was Artist only

These Plugin settings but I left as default

Yes, its 'Composer - Artist/TrackArtist'. What plugin settings?
