Re: Backup
Jeff is right, it may say it fails, but basically fails on files that are in use or have different permissions or other reasons. I would just ignore. If you want, you should be able to build a profile that just ignores those items. You'll have to change the directory settings in windows to show hidden files and directories. [NF] Garmin GPS map updates.
I have a Garmin GPS Nuvi 265W with the north america NT 2011.10 map. The current available is nt 2013. The one-time update is 49.95, the lifetime update is 89.95. Is it really worth updating a map? A post earlier this week indicated it was a bug in SP2 that was resolved with a hotfix. There was a bug in SP2, but that's not what caused the problem. The problem has been around since VFP6 or so. It hasn't bothered me, because I (almost) never use the report writer. I think this is an incarnation of the data environment concept (which I also never use), which tends to over-encapsulation, thus freezing the configuration to match the one in which it was developed. Re: [OT] More proof that man-made global warming is nonsense.
The 'global warming' hacks like to hedge their bet and call themselves 'climate change' scientists because what they want, at the end of the day, is to impose fiat decisions on business and industry, and prophesying 'climate change' is much easier than prophesying the actual weather. Green is the new Red, a politically expedient way to justify the same old discredited ideology that brought the likes of Stalin, Pol Pot, Chairman Mau, Hugo Chaves, and B. Hussein to power. This is not to say the climate isn't changing (it's nonsense to deny it -- climate is a very complex system in constant flux), or even that man isn't somehow a significant factor (of course he is). It's the illusion that we fix the problem by taxing ourselves back into the stone age or otherwise crippling civilization that is the crux of the debate. How, pray tell, will making Al Gore, Goldman Sachs, et al. richer via some clever carbon credit system based on the Medieval indulgences in any way stave off impending climate doom, if in fact -- as I suspect -- the sun is behind the whole warming phenomenon, after all? Tiny fluctuations in its output has demonstrably huge effects on earth (isn't solar flaring the new Armageddon?) -- as compared to CO2, which is among the smallest of all greenhouse gases. The biggest greenhouse gas is water vapor, and considering the planet is covered 75% by water, one might suspect a bit of an influence there. :| Anyway. What do I know? I'm just a software engineer. ;) - Publius On Wed, Jul 11, 2012 at 10:03 PM, Nicholas Geti ng...@optonline.net wrote: Yawn. They are talking about two millennia. Re: [OT] More proof that man-made global warming is nonsense.
Yes. That is the point. The planet has warmed considerably in the last 50 years. 2012 has set the record for the warmest 6 months since the U.S. has started keeping records in 1800(? not sure of the exact date). A second problem is that the acidity of the oceans is rising from rising CO2 levels being absorbed in the water. Special sea critters that built limestone reefs out of CO2 can only do their job at low acidity and are under stress. Further increase in acidity will kill them off. (Google ocean acidity and coral reefs). There are hundreds of articles about it.
