Re: maxamising the screen
I tried this, but i don’t think it works from what i’m told. But thanks for assisting alan. if there are any other thoughts from you or anyone else regarding how to maxamise the screen i do need to find out how to do this. i’m getting asked about it quite a bit, and the only way i can get around the problem is with sighted assistance. Re: PT12.4 or me
Hi Slau! I think, I got it. Selecting a track by pressing Command+Option+F is not the same like using p and semicolon. P and semicolon moe the insertion point to the desired track and Command+Option+F not. Maybe thats the whole trick. audio interface with at least 8 inputs and outputs and some microphone preamps that are XLR
Hi, What is a good audio interface that has at least 4 microphone preamps and at least 8 quarter inch line in jacks and works with Pro Tools 12 pritty much out of the box where I just install the drivers and start recording as I plan to get the control surface later unless one exist that is with the moving controls like my old Digi 003 had as I got the trade in value for it and need to replace it as soon as possible more then 8 inputs and outputs and more then 4 microphone preamps would be helpful of course and either USB firewire 800 or thunderbult would work fine. Support on windows 10 would be nice but is not really required. Nick Gawronski -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Pro Tools Accessibility" group. Re: PT12.4 or me
Hi Martin, I just opened the original zipped session file and I was able to recreate the behavior you've been seeing. As I suspected, it's the issue with having some sort of insertion point within the track. This time, I avoided any kind of scrubbing or shuttling while performing the actions and the audio was not deleted. As soon as I scrubbed momentarily in the track, any type of deletion or editing was possible. BTW, I believe I mistakenly mentioned linking the edit and timeline selection in my previous message. While that should always be checked (except for very specific circumstances), I meant "edit selection Follows Track Selection." With that option turned on, one would think that simply selecting a different track should move the insertion and vice versa. That may be true but, until there's an insertion point of some kind, it's likely that, when a new track is created, there's no insertion cursor, per se. Once there is, however, selecting a track moves the insertion cursor and moving the insertion cursor selects the corresponding track. I think it's specific to a newly-recorded track where, before any editing takes place, there's no insertion point anywhere within the session until you intentionally create one. I'll see if I can verify this further but I'm pretty sure that's the case. Re: PT12.4 or me
Hi Martin, I'm not sure if I mentioned this early on. If not, I've surely mentioned it in a different thread. It used to be that track selection and edit selection were separate with no option to link them. When there wasn't an insertion point present within a track (that is, there was no edit selection), any cutting, copying, pasting or deleting would have no effect because the insertion cursor was absent and therefore there was no edit selection and no possibility of editing anything. The way to create an insertion point was to start scrubbing anywhere and an insertion point appeared. From there, one could use Control-p or Control-semicolon to move the insertion point up or down within the edit window. The only way to really know which track had the insertion point was to simply listen. Alternatively, one could hide all other tracks and bring up only the track to be edited and the insertion point would certainly only appear in the shown track. Shuttling has the same effect. rewind and fast forward also accomplish the same result, depending on how a few checkboxes are checked in the Preferences. As a matter of course, I always shuttle through a track to verify the contents or at least tab once to get to a clip boundary and play through it a bit to hear the contents of the track before I perform any editing task. It's such an old habit that I'm virtually unaware that I always take that approach. When you think about it, that makes sense. A sighted user can clearly see when an insertion point is present within a track or when a clip is selected. For a VoiceOver user, it's helpful to hear the clip a bit first or at least hear any part of the track in question. Beyond that, making selections with keyboard shortcuts and verifying the start, end and length fields are good practices. I know you said your edit and timeline selections are linked but I'm wondering whether the insertion point is indeed present when you begin to select your track and range. The fact that it seems to work after you've shuttled makes me suspect there's something amiss with your setup. I'll reopen the session from the zipped folder tomorrow and try it again without scrubbing or shuttling anything to begin with. Also, I'll try to look around in general to see what might be different in the session from what I normally experience. The one thing that I can't recreate is your setup in terms of the Preferences window. We might have to take a look at that at some point. I'm about to leave the studio but maybe I'll try looking at the session on my laptop if I remember to take my extra iLok key with me. Hey guys. is there a way to insure the screen is maxamised in p t. some of my clients have said that when working on a session that some times p t is minimised on the screen, They can maxamise it with the mouse, but is there some way to do this with voice over. i’m sure this command will apply to other applications on the mac. Re: PT12.4 or me
Hi Martin, I opened the session and followed your steps and, yes, the deletion works fine. One thing I did out of necessity is open the Edit window. By default, the session had only the Mix window opened. Without the Edit window being opened (even if it's just in the background), the numeric keypad commands for navigation wouldn't work. One thing I would check on your newly created track is that the track view selector is set to waveform. If it's not, you'll hear the audio but what's actually displayed in the timeline is whatever is selected in the track view selector pop-up. That could be volume information or pan, send, mute information, etc. If you select and delete, the only thing you'd be deleting is whatever the track view is displaying. It won't affect the audio. Double-check that your newly created track is set to waveform in the edit window. If you don't see the track view selector, go to the track options button and make sure your track height is set to at least small and not micro or mini. Actually, you can also set the track view from the track options pop-up list even if the height is set to micro or small. Let me know if that solves the issue. pay for the upgrade to v12. or downgrade your mac to mavericks. RE: PT12.4 or me
Hi Slau and list! Here is the link to my favorite test session. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30728751/Uke.zip It's out of the ProToolsWithSpeech tutorial added with an raw recorded uke. Sorry for the size but I did not want to change anything. And all testers who do not own a copy of ProToolsWithSpeech should trash this session after testing. Do the following: Open the session with Pro Tools 12.4 or 12.3.1. Select track 4 (the acoustic guitar) by using scroll to track - Command+Option+F. Go to bar 6 by using NumpadStar followed by Numpad6 and NumpadEnter. Select to the beginning of the session by using Shift+Enter. Delete the selected audio by pressing Delete or Command+B. Press Enter for session start and Numpad0 for audition. Now the guitar starts at bar 1. And now: Insert a new mono audio track next to the guitar by pressing Shift+Command+N followed by VO+Space. Arm the new track by pressing Shift+R. Start recording by pressing Numpad3 and record 4 bars of what ever. Stop recording by pressing Numpad0. Unarm the track by pressing Shift+R. Go to bar 3 by pressing NumpadStar followed by Numpad3 and NumpadEnter. Select to the beginning of the session by using Shift+Enter. Delete the selected audio by pressing Delete or Command+B. Press Enter for session start and Numpad0 for audition. Did the deletion work?
