Re: level meter question

2016-05-05 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Brian,

To add to John's excellent response, one thing you might consider doing is to
use memory locations to quickly show or hide all tracks.

Let's say you wanted to assign slot 99 to act as a memory location for hiding
tracks. First, use the Track List pop-up menu to hide all tracks. Then, let's
say you create a memory location using slot 99 by pressing decimal 99 and then
Enter on the numeric keypad. This opens the dialog for slot 99. You dont' want
this to be a marker or selection so press the radio button for "None" and then
move onto the checkbox for "track Show/Hide and check it and press Return.

Now, whenever you want to hide all tracks, no matter which tracks are showing,
press decimal 99 decimal on the keypad and all tracks will be hidden. Of
course, you can do the same for showing all tracks or showing specific tracks,
etc. If you need to update the memory locations, make sure the show/hide status
of each track is as you want it to be and press decimal, the number of the
location and press Enter. This opens the dialog once again and now the new
settings take effect.

Hope that helps,
Slau

Re: level meter question

2016-05-05 Thread John André Lium-Netland
Hi Brian,

The quickest way to select only one specific track is either

•Find the track list popup menu, and select to hide all tracks. Then go to the
track list and press the left column for the track you would like to monitor.

or

•make sure only the track you would like to monitor is selected in the track
list, and then go to the track list popup menu and select to show only selected
tracks.

BTW, one way to quickly select only one track in the track list, is to focus on
the track and press control-option-shift-M, and then press escape as soon as
the menu comes up. Only the focused track will then be selected.

Best,
John André

Re: level meter question

2016-05-05 Thread Brian Howerton
Thanks Slau. Yeah, I was in the mix window, so essentially, I would have to go
through and hide all tracks accept for the track that I am monitoring for
levels, and I would do this from within the track list table by checking the
hide button beside each track, is that correct? Is there a quicker way to do
it than that. I know I can go to the context menu when I am on a particular
track, but wasn’t sure if there was a quicker way. Thanks for the help Slau,
Brian

Re: level meter question

2016-05-05 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Brian,
Two things that come to mind which may or may not be an issue have to do with
the meter being visible on screen, not because of a window blocking it but
because of scrolling. Whether you're reading the meters in the Mix or Edit
windows, it's possible that the track itself could be scrolled off screen. To
eliminate variables, show only the tracks you're monitoring and, if in the Mix
window, press Page Up once or twice. If in the Edit window, use Page Up once or
twice but also make sure your track heights are set to something like medium
and no larger. If in the Mix window, try hiding inserts f through j and sends f
through j. Since the peak meters might be set to infinite hold, they'll
probably report that value whether they're actually shown on screen or not but
the level meters will not retain their value and will not report any values
whatsoever if they're not actually visible on screen. Hope that helps.

2016-05-05 Thread Steve Sparrow
Hi. After reading your email, out of interest I gave this plug a run, to see if
it may have some use. It seems to work fine here. I just inserted it on a
track, then interacted with the f x view. and played around with the parameters
and i got a bunch of low and high tones when the level went above what ever
threshold level i set. What are you finding is not working for you.
Are you saying you are not getting any audible tone at all when your levels
peaks above your desired threshold?
